  1. Thorpe in the pen, I see... I think they're prepping for him to take over Thielbar's spot. Dobnak should then get Shoemaker's spot in the rotation. Good to see Miranda raking, perhaps this will be the year he puts it all together. If he does, I could see him debuting sometime in 2022. By the way, going over who is Rule 5 eligible this winter: Rule 5 Eligible (Notable names) Blayne Enlow Chris Vallimont Josh Winder Cole Sands Royce Lewis Previously R5 Eligible Jose Miranda Wander Javier Griffin Jax I missed hearing about how Miranda was eligible... they will need to protect him next year.
  2. *17 LOB, 9 total runners left on base (still awful, just wanted to clarify)
  3. Nice to see Winder with a strong outing. I have high expectations for him, as he's a part of the FO's wave of pitching talent that is finally getting close to the majors.
  4. From how I understand it, basically this is only a HR in places with a short RF, so only in Target Field and maybe Yankee Stadium, anywhere else that's a flyout.
  5. Did RandBalls create this with some photoshop skills? This looks like satire to me!
  6. The only thing worse than a bad bullpen is a bad rotation... not that we have one, but if Happ keeps pitching like this, it's only going to compound the issue. I endured 2011-2014 Twins baseball, so I know a thing or two about awful rotations...
  7. It's too early to say he's back to his All-Star form, but he's showing progress, and seeing more pop from his bat is a good sign.
  8. I can't say much more than what's already been said... good article, Nick. When Nick Gordon having one good start is the main highlight of the week... it's been a really bad week!
  9. Going 137-85 over those two years was "luck", and going 11-19 in a month plus is not? It seems downright negligent to claim that a sample size of 30 games completely and totally trumps a sample size of over 200 games. We played 52 games over .500 and nobody deserves credit for it except "luck"?! Molitor and his old school approach got us one playoff game in 4 years. He oversaw the Total System Failure squad and had a talented squad in 2018 and squandered it. Shouldn't he be held responsible for his failure of results like you want Rocco to be held accountable?
  10. Rortvedt profiles as the classic "good defender, poor batter" catcher. His bat will likely top out at something like .220/.300, but if he's fielding well and becomes an expert at calling games, he will make for a fine backup catcher.
  11. Good article, Ted, and I agree with your % points. The players deserve the most blame, by far. They're getting paid to play a lot better than this. I am glad you didn't heap it all on bad luck like the Twins' broadcast does on a nightly basis. Rocco certainly deserves blame, but you could bring in the best manager in the league and he'd be at his wits' end with this roster.
  12. This team is bad. Seeing them regress isn’t a surprise, but they’re a train wreck right now. Nearly have the players on the roster are but shadows of their former selves. Plus the hitters are as brittle as can be... not sure what they can do to fix this. They won’t lose 100+ games, but 90+ seems realistic.
  13. Everyone saw this result coming once Rogers blew the save and they showed Waddell leaving the bullpen for the 10th. We can't afford to have two relievers in the doghouse (Colome and Alcala (despite looking better lately)) plus having the AAA project in the pen. And that's with Rogers, Duffey, Thielbar, and Stashak having their own issues. They've got to at least try to fix the pen and not pretend everything is fine. Call up Law and sign Shane Greene, and if they fail, well, I will give them credit for trying.
  14. His fastball actually touched 94, but he mostly threw his slider for some reason. Gameday says 4 of his 15 pitches were fastballs ranging from 92 to 94.
  15. I know this isn't stock market related, but I've been monitoring the cryptocurrency market... and I had been watching the Doge-coin for a while, but figured it was too much of a meme to put real money on. Now it's skyrocketed.. I just have a hard time investing in something that has so little real world value. Perhaps I have much to learn...
  16. Agreed, we've got to win at least 5 this week. Thorpe should be up too.
  17. For now, Kirilloff is going to be in LF while Sano returns to 1B. I think in the future Alex will become the full-time 1B, but they're going to give Sano every chance they can.
  18. Hmmm, there's less prospects here than I expected. Good to see Sands and Winder here. Celestino struggled a lot at A+ and had a good month or two in 2019, so it's not surprising to see him here. He has a ways to go.
  19. Good to see Larnach is starting in AAA. He's close!
  20. That's a misleading stat, since "7 below" puts us in 8th place in the AL in OBP since there's only 15 teams. So they're average, not "top half".
  21. Kirilloff will be fine... the main concern I have with him is that he's just not going to take walks. Kinda like Eddie Rosario in the way where it was more due to wanting to make contact so much, but it leaves him out to dry when his batted balls are not landing in the outfield.
  22. I have a hard time with both the Indians and Twins being real contenders. Cleveland doesn't have a lineup, and while the Twins' lineup could rebound, we don't have a bullpen. Once the White Sox go on a winning streak, they're going to be hard to catch.
  23. I was going to say something similar, this team is clearly still capable of hitting plenty of bombas... plus the ball was just as juiced as it was in 2020 and our homers still waned.
  24. Having a bad offense and the worst bullpen in baseball is a surefire combo to have a bad team.
  25. I'm not surprised some of the soft-tossing relievers are struggling, but everyone in the bullpen has regressed with no exceptions. Rogers may have a 0.00 ERA, but he's let in most if not all his inherited runners and he's leaving meatballs down the middle. Duffey looks out of shape, velo down, no command. Stashak looks hurt. Thielbar has been beaten up. Alcala can't stop giving up HRs. How can they all be sucking at once? Rocco has done a poor job managing, but he's got nothing to work with here. Wes and the FO have failed him. And the 6th inning mound visit debacle aside... how do you pull Arraez for Lin in LF?! Sure, Lin has a little bit of OF experience (78 innings in the majors and 50 starts in the minors), but you can't pull Arraez's bat out of the lineup in a close game. These have been some baffling moves being made...
