  1. I honestly don't think it affects Miranda. It gives the Twins another option but either way, Miranda is going to have to show in ST that he can handle the position on a semi-regular basis. Ditto, I guess, for Julien. I'm just really down on Eddie
  2. If I watch a game, I understand what I just watched enough that I don't need anyone to spend 1/2 hour explaining it to me.
  3. I'd love to see Lee be the everyday 2B. Let Julien go to AAA to see if he can rediscover something from 2023. Regardless of who "wins" the 5th spot (it's SWR), Festa likely makes 15-20 starts at least in 2024. Matthews probably >10 somewhere?
  4. Couldn't agree more Seth. Me personally....I don't ever need to see Mickey Gasper, Mike Ford, etc in a Twins uniform. The question that keeps popping into my head is "Why do we have no one in the system that seems to be able to play 1B?" Why do we have to wait until guys like Julien get to the bigs and THEN realize he can't play 2B....so, what's left? Let's just move him to 1B. The signing of Santana shows the FO values a good defensive 1B, but organization seems to do absolutely nothing to develop one?
  5. "One could argue this is a good thing, and many fans probably will view it as such. I myself would love to see key hitters like Larnach and Wallner get more chances to survive a tough sixth-inning AB so they can remain in the lineup when a righty reliever swings around three innings later." This was my stance all of last year. I think we are 100% in agreement. Thanks for the work Nick.
  6. If I had to guess, I'd say Martin and/or Castro will get those spot starts in CF when Buxton has a day off or is DHing. If Buck gets hurt....then Keirsey as a regular option might make more sense. None of the three are difference makers offensively, so going with the best defender might be a good idea.
  7. So happy for Corey. Guy worked his tail off to become a good defensive 3B. Solid, consistent producer. An an even better person. Congrats Corey Koskie!
  8. If Gasper actually was good at catching I'd think he would have done more of it in the minors, especially with the importance of the position. I hope I'm proven wrong but I just have a hard time seeing him getting much action with the Twins barring injury.
  9. Always seemed pretty simple. Max Kepler was a solid major league player, nothing more. Really good defensively and mostly slightly below average offensively. And that's ok. With Sano it just seemed to come down to hard work...seemed like most springs he came in out of shape.
  10. Helman is a nice story...easy guy to root for. But he'd be first to go for me bc of inherent value of pitching and catching. I have no idea what to make of the Gasper acquisition.
  11. I really don't think one predicates the other. We all know the organization has almost no catching depth. The Cartaya trade, IMO, is to pair him with Camargo at AAA and improve that depth. Not saying Vazquez won't be dealt...but I'm not sure that's why Cartaya was acquired.
  12. Terry Felton was not a bad pitcher. I wouldn't say he was good...as mentioned, too many walks and was clearly rushed to the majors. But definitely more hard-luck than anything...those were some dark days in Twins history.
  13. Seems like this FO has always developed players and then move someone to 1B if their initial position doesn't work out....Kiriloff for example, and then that guy isn't all that good defensively at the position. Maybe it's time they actually develop guys to play (and actually be good at) 1B.
  14. Connor Joe feels like the most Twins move of the bunch given his positional flexibility
  15. The eyeball test tells me SWR is a #4ish starter. But if you have a consistent #4 starter out of a him, there's certainly a lot of value in that.
  16. First of all the term "Golden Batter" or "Golden At Bat" make me think of Willy Wonka. But it makes sense.....a stupid name for a stupid idea. If Rob Manfred really gave a hoot about baseball he'd be pushing both players and owners toward a salary cap. Manfred thinks speeding up the game (which I was all in favor of by the way) will renew interest. Wanna renew interest? Make most of your fan bases believe they actually have a chance to win. I'm already dreading when the current CBA expires (I believe in 2006?) because I think we're going to go a LONG time without baseball.
  17. I would guess that anyone...anyone...connected to the Twins in any way shape or form that actually care about winning baseball games does NOT regret the signing. I guess that just leaves a couple members of the Pohlad family (I'm looking at you Joe)
  18. Goltz was such an underrated pitcher on some....not very good Twins teams. If I had to vote one it's Perk. If two it's Perk and Goltz
  19. So the REAL question seems to be.....how do we get the MLBPA to threaten a grievance against the Twins?!?! :)
  20. We should not be surprised....this is exactly how Falvey has shown he thinks you build a bullpen. Couple studs at the back end....handful of ok arms and analytics the bleep out of it :) I guess I'd rather see a bunch of arms that are actually good but this is what we have. Failure to add a quality left-handed reliever would be malpractice.
  21. Kids like this are why I think Jax needs to stay in the bullpen.
