  1. Getting it right ... Hitting on the upgrade ... Something needs to be addressed on pitching and they can't use payroll as an excuse ... The fans aren't accepting that while 2023 had the pitching that took them to the playoffs ...
  2. I wish they would get something done before Twins fest so us fans could have some enthusiasm to look forward to ...
  3. I was just quoting a line of the OP ,,, Kepler's defense was never in question but his hitting just wasn't productive ,,, 2019 was a career year for Kepler and 2020 started well , but batting 1st or 4th in the lineup, he just didn't belong there , he's more productive in the 6th slot in the batting order with less pressure .... Kepler has been one of the Twins best rightfielders since Tony O ... Some good ones in between , but Tony O and kepler were / are the elite right fielders the twins have ever had and are two of my favorite right fielders in our history ...
  4. I have loved Kepler defense and have always said he has been one of the best right fielders in Twins history , Oliva was quite good too , cuddyer , Puckett and hunter in between Oliva and kepler were good but not as good as my two favorite right fielders ... Kepler hitting is why they wanted him dfa'd or traded , he's not a lead off hitter or in the 4th slot in the batting order but has been placed there in the past , place him sixth and he responds better with less pressure ...
  5. I agree that both wallner and Julien are not superior on defense but you have to have alittle faith in the players that they will get better , maybe not gold glove better , but better ... I know you like defense better than offense as your posts always reflect that ... Also a P. S. Watch all those thumb downs you handout , people are sensitive to them , if you don't agree with a post by others , just quote them and give them details of why you disagree , just a little constructive criticism ...
  6. Nice enthusiastic article sherry , we have not had one of these articles for awhile ... Crazy how Kepler is now a fan favorite again after 2 1/2 years of everyone wanting to trade him , if we retain Kepler I sure hope he hits , always have loved his defense ... Polanco I'd like to keep even though we have a surplus , if healthy I think he will put up his regular contributions to the line up as a switch hitter ... The twins needs plenty and trades are justified for those needs ... seattle and miami have pitching who have control , Milwaukee doesn't so not interested in burns , Milwaukee does have a surplus of controllable outfielders that have promise ... We'll have to sit back and see what their plan really is ... It would be nice if they could move alittle faster on the plan and generate enthusiasm for Twins fest ... Christmas present are always nice ...
  7. It should be fine for provus moving into the TV booth ... Atteberry and gladden together for the year should be okay .... I wish they would call the games better by telling the fans how many outs , balls and strikes for people just tuning in to radio it takes awhile before you know where your at in the game ... Telling the score after each half inning would help too , their details are lacking ... maybe they will be a good team in the radio booth , they have done games together when provus is on vacation, ...
  8. Something is better than the eyes a umpire has ...
  9. They better start making some concrete plans and get creative to acquire at least one quality starter ... The FO needs to generate some enthusiasm before Twins fest ...
  10. A first round draft pick that makes contact and a switch hitter to boot ... A valuable player you hang onto and find some other prospects to trade ... Lee , Jenkins and Soto stay and any of the rest of prospects can be trade bait ... We need bats also to strengthen the lineup with clutch hitting ( see Lewis for clutch hitting ) ... I want exciting baseball with hitters getting on base ... Pitching was outstanding last year and yes we need a quality starter to fill Gray's vacancy ... FO needs to be creative , let's just sit back , relax and see what happens , if it doesn't happen than we can blast them for not having a contending team ...
  11. Let the young men play the game ... We've seen last deadline the FO do nothing , We've seen alot of our free agent players sign elsewhere ... We've always seem to see the front office move slowly ... Please bring us a nice starting pitcher for 2024 ... A nice Christmas would nice ...
  12. I'd throw the recliner out , it can't smell to good either ...
  13. SAY GOODBYE to my little friend ... GOODBYE , ADIOS , GOOD RIDDANCE ... Hope Cincinnati knows what there doing with a 2 year contract ... Sorry pagan , you just didn't impress me ...
  14. 1. Vazquez - 13.9 2. Correa - 5.0 3. Taylor - 4.9 4. Kepler - 2.1 5. Farmer - 1.9 6. Jeffers - 1.4 Vazquez is 8th of 98 MLB catchers .... Even if Vazquez hits the same as 2023 in 2024 , he still is their best defensive catcher ... Sometimes coming to a new team it puts more pressure on the player and they hit like s h i t , I think Vazquez hitting will improve for 2024 ... Look at all these free agents that signed 10 year contracts and were awful the first year of their contract until they settled in with the team ... So get off Vazquez back , he'll be fine with his defense and working with the pitchers and his bat will improve ...
  15. Sonny got his payday , did St Louis over pay ... They don't think so and that's fine , they need pitchers , they haven't got much of the rotation left from the start of 2023 .... I'm sure they want to compete in the division but they have to play the game , Sonny will give them a chance to win alot of games , I did like his demeanor on the mound for the Twins ... Lopez was a trade that worked out for both sides , the front office did good even though arraez was a fan favorite ... Sonny Gray trade worked out really well and probably a better trade by the front office because it cost us just 1 first round prospect , Sonny pitched 2 seasons and because Sonny signs elsewhere we get a draft choice back in compensation round ... So really the trade on the financial side it was a savvy deal for now , chase petty is climbing the ranks ,,, Was the front office wise enough to see that when they made the pick , did they think if gray pitches well we would get a compensation round draft pick or was it more we need pitchers so they traded chase petty for sonny ???
  16. You have seen the light and I sometimes think this way , they run it as a business , they love a profit more than they love the game ... The Pohlads are the second richest family in Minnesota and could add to their legacy and spend some of their inheritance money to bring a world series winner to the fans ... Will the Pohlads ever see the light ...
  17. If we are trading with Seattle it's might take a big bundle of prospects ... They would place high value on their pitching just like Cincinnati did with Castillo, look what Seattle gave up to acquire Castillo with 2 1/2 years of control .... The twins will want to trade for a pitcher with some control , is Kirby , Gilbert , woo , Miller better than Castillo , probably not right now but in a year or two could be ... Also mentioned as a rumor is Yamamoto wants to sign with Seattle , if they sign Yamamoto they will have some good expendable pitchers to trade , they need hitters with OPS , they want major league ready players and we have a few veterans and some excess in infield prospects ... Not everybody will like the players that are traded away for a pitcher ... I didn't like trading away arraez but Lopez proved his value and the trade worked out for both teams ... Let's make a deal for a quality pitcher and have a nice Christmas present and an energetic Twins fest ...
  18. Would be nice if they would give us an early Christmas present ... If Seattle does end up with Yamamoto , the Twins should be negotiating as we speak , ( negotiate like Seattle is going to get Yamamoto and negotiate like they wont once he signs elsewhere ) .... patience may be the virtue on what pitcher the Twins gets , seattle will want to Shed some payroll if they sign Yamamoto and a more polished pitcher like Gilbert might be available over Miller or others ...
  19. I agree he won't get the recognition to get elected his first year , how long it takes I'm not sure , maybe third ballot .... I'll supply the crow and eat it with you , if im wrong , I need a good reason to shoot one , the scavengers are everywhere looking for food here in Northern country ...
  20. You are correct that Joe took over last off season but you can bet he is asking Jim for advice or Jim is telling him , you can't make money all the time but you better make money most of the time ... The pohlads are in it to make money not to win it ... Cutting payroll with an open window is evidence that their love of money is greater than the love of baseball ...
  21. 12 mil for depth , isn't that what they were after in 2023 ... One good year of pitching out of 7 years of control ... They better give us fans a nice Christmas present ...
  22. Concur , they haven't got one deadline trade right yet , starting with Dyson ...
  23. Luke Raley was acquired by minnesota in the dozier trade with dodgers , Luke Raley was traded back to dodgers along with graterol in the maeda trade ... How Tampa acquired him , it was either by trade or the dodgers dfad him and Tampa claimed him .... Trading places can work out for each team , in trades , most teams trade for needs , some dump a player because of salary ... Yes it's a challenge to get it right , front office has done well in off season trades but has not done well at deadline trades ...
