  1. Yes indeed. These so called can't miss prospects and bright young start have a lot to prove. Injuries and many of them playing part time due to this platoon system has set many of these guys back. At this point it doesn't seem like most of these guys will make it in MLB. Especially not with the Twins. I think this team is at a crossroads in many areas. Perhaps it's time to tear down and rebuild. I'd it seems drastic but as of today this team has no direction and plays very boring baseball
  2. Not surprised at all. They still missed on Rocco and Falvey. A total house cleaning should now be done including Dave St Peter. And yes we need someone from the outside. Internal candidates for the GM job would only bring the same Falvey/Rocco totally boring baseball.
  3. I am not a Rocco fan at all. Having said that I can understand bringing him back. Does he deserve that? No. Of course the players like him as they are not held responsible for their poor play. Plus the Twins already have scapegoats in the 4 fired coaches. I disagree with you about people that want Rocco fired being in the minority. Not sure about that. A lot of people question his ability to manage. He has no in game managing skills at all. His insistence on sticking to mainly analytics and not at least some managing cost the team a lot. How good did all that analytics do the Twins this year? Also he was under contract through next year anyway so why pay for two managers salaries for one year? I personally don't think Rocco isn't given enough blame for the last two months. He's supposed to be the leader. That he is not.
  4. Wow what a super article!! Well researched. Year after year we hear of great prospects in the Twins system. Yet almost none of these pan out. We have several on the Twins this year and most of them do not seem to be major league talent. Why should we figure this group is any different?
  5. Yes perhaps payroll dollars need to be allocated better. A penny pinching team should never have signed Buxton and Correa to such long term contracts. The fact that ownership signed off on those deals further shows their total lack of planning. I generally agree with your grades and comments. At this point in time this organization is a mess most of which is brought on by itself.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if the move Lavine. Falvey should go to but he won't. We already have 4 hitting coaches sacrificed. IMO I think they may be aren't sacrificing enough, at least so far. It was interesting to hear that Joe Pohlad doubled down by saying cutting payroll and not making a deadline trade or two had nothing to do with the collapse. Yea right!
  7. So many of our prospects that played for the Twins this year have shown they are not Bona fide major league players. IMO the Twins do a crummy job of developing their prospects. Many of them play in minor leagues and play more full time. When they are called up to the Twins many of them are relegated to part time status due to Roccos platooning. How are your prospects going to become stars if they are not allowed to play full time? Why would any young star want to play for the Twins?
  8. Lots of comments regarding my post about not being able to access Twins games. Fact is after leaving Comcast a few years ago due to ridiculous price increases we switched to streaming from YouTube, to Hulu to another one that had Bally Sports. We tried Fubo which is a joke of a streaming alternative compared to Hulu. Fact is we moved to each of those previously mentioned services just to watch the Twins, wild etc. For many years we watched the Twins through those systems. The Twins told us 4 years ago they were going to fix it. They didnt. These are not "options". The negativity on TD is too much. It is intended to provide people a platform to air their feelings about Twins baseball good and bad. No reason to be rude about it.
  9. I never understood the Popkins hiring in the first place. How can you hire someone that has never gone through what major league players have? How can a major league hitter take seriously someone that's never been there?
  10. Let's not forget that the Twins TV situation is not new. Many of us haven't been able to watch the Twins for a few years due to most streaming systems dumping Bally Sports and the Twins saying they would fix that. That was about 4 years ago. I've pretty much given up on the Twins organization after 60 years of following. They have no clue about how the fans feel. We have been taken advantage of and ignored for years. I guess it is true. They ONKY care about themselves and their bottom line.
  11. The first of a few coaches to go. Scapegoats. But I understand. The first of several lip service or cover you a.. movement by the Twins.
  12. Nice article and great comments by all. The Twins actually drew roughly the same amount of fans as the previous year. The 300,000 reduction came from Twins estimation of attendance increase from 2023-2024. Figuring the nice 2023 season would increase ticket sales. But they shot themselves in the foot or mouth lol. So they budgeted 2024 on an extra 300,000 in attendance to a total of about 2.2 million not the 1.9 they actually drew. Keeping high priced players like Correa, Buxton, Lopez may be impossible since they take up so much of team payroll. A frustrating fact is that many of the prospects they plugged in for injured players etc performed very poorly. If that continues the future of the franchise looks bleak.
  13. Great article. I couldn't agree more about it's contents. The most despicable brand of baseball the past 6 weeks. Not just the losing but the way they lost. They played with no heart or desire. And then for Joe pohlad to give lip service over the season is ridiculous and an insult to the fans around here that know baseball. If the past 6 weeks was called baseball then fold em up and go. The Pohlad ownership is clueless.
  14. Yes please stay with WCCO. They tried different stations in the past buy came back to CCO. I realize the Twins hire the announcers but I do not care for Atteberry. He rambles on and on about things that have nothing to do with the game. He's very difficult to follow. Gladden is OK but I agree he is getting boring. They both talk over the play on the field. They seem to forget there's a game going on. I miss Provus on radio. I really like Molitor and Perkins. Anyway, please stay on WCCO radio.
  15. Yes indeed here we go again. Their announcement about not further reducing payroll rings hollow. I would n I t be at all surprised to see them at least try to move Lopez. Also Correa and Buxton have no trade clauses but those things have been bought out in the past to move a player. I don't think Buxton is going anywhere. Why would any team want to pay an undependable part time player 15 million per year. Correa? Very good player but there's questions about him as well. I wouldn't be surprised if he asks to get out. There will probably be several changes in personnel most of them will be deleting high salary.
  16. I agree with your grades for everyone but perhaps Buxton is graded a little to high for my tastes. Anyway as I go through all the young players that are on the list it causes me to wonder if they aren't as good as they were panned out to be. For this year anyway just a lot of disappointments there. Hopefully they will all improve next year. Just because they played for the Twins or are on their roster doesn't make them a major league wallpaper. Good article.
  17. Thanks Nick for all the great articles this year. Always look forward to your articles.
  18. Buxton has mostly been an over hyped and over rated player. For the writer to continually try to prop up Buck with meandering analytic malarkey is ridiculous.
  19. After nearly 60 years of following Twins baseball this one has been the most frustrating and I might add, demoralizing. Perhaps part of the reason is it's so fresh and current. But the truth is this group of "professional athletes" was awful. Great expectations and the players playing like they don't care. The organization is at a very low point in it's relationship with its fans. I'm not a fan of just firing managers but for Joe Pohlad to back Baldelli and the front office is a huge slap in the face to fans. He provides no leadership and his insistence on a strict adherence to analytics and it's playback was almost laughable at times. Analytics are fine but nothing wrong with good old common sense baseball decision making mixed in. Pohlads endorsement of Baldelli and Falvey rings hollow. To endorse someone that presides over some of the most despicable baseball over players that performed for 2 months as if they couldn't wait for the season to end is inexcusable. The excuses have already started. That's Twins baseball. Expect more of the same next year.
  20. More lip service from ownership. They just shrug off the inept play and then get upset that more fans aren't showing up. We've been lied to and otherwise misled for the past several years. Like Baldelli and Falvey dodging questions, making excuses, and somehow shrugging their shoulders during this EPIC COLLAPSE. They were not just losses. Most of them were embarrassing losses. How they can condone sloppy listless non caring play is inexcusable. Obviously the Twins Way is ancient history. The new Twins way is poor baseball, terrible public relations, and a team that has no fire, or discipline. I just wish they really did care about the fans.
  21. Another listless game from a totally checked out Twins game. I went to the games Saturday and Sunday and the Twins were awful. They've been awful for weeks and the organization did nothing to try to make them look better. They turned out to be an embarrassment. And the worst part is they didn't seem to care. We did get the expected lip service from the owner and front office. If they run back pretty much the same team and team philosophy we will have the same results. Guys with no energy or desire to play. No sense of urgency. No sense of caring. No offense, no defense, no basestealing, no manager that has common sense. Do I think they should have fired Baldelli and Falvey? I don't know why they even want to be here. They act like they don't want to be. Will the organization take responsibility for the garbage play on the field the last two months? Probably. They will replace the batboys and call it a day. Sheesh.
  22. The Twins maybe could have done something nice for Kepler. But no one has accused this organization of having any class. They don't stay with their players very often once they get too expensive. Yes the did so for some reason with Buxton by giving him. truly a part time, now very athletically limited wallpaper a 100 million dollar deal. It was a great deal for Buxton. But IMO they don't show much loyalty to wallpapers. Way too much turnover each year. Way too many new faces that have proven they can't handle MLB. It hard to embrace a team that is made up of 26 players. Many of whom have shown they don't want to play. There should be major changes coming in players, and coaches management and Front Office. What we may very well get is generally a let's explain why we blew it, make excuses, and do the same thing next year. That is unacceptable.
  23. Full no trade contracts mean very little. They can easily be bought out. I hope we keep Lopez but I have to admit that all options should be open this off season. I would expect payroll to decline again next year. Kind of shows some very poor planning. Like why sign Correa and Buxton and Lopez to long term expensive deals if right sizing was going to be in the cards. We found out a lot of the young "prospects" aren't ready and may never be ready for MLB. Interesting off season ahead. Before that we will receive the normal laundry list of excuses from the Twins organization for the epic collapse. The soft soap has already begun. Ins
  24. Typical Twins game the past month and a half. No heart, no desire, no discipline, no fire, no sense of urgency, no offense, no defense, no pitching, and no manager. This team and organization is a fraud.
  25. For the first time in 60 years I'm at a loss for words regarding my Twins. I didnt think they would stoop so low as to not even show up to play the past 6 or 7weeks. It's really disgraceful.
