  1. The ad labeled current is history, although recent. The ne from 1978, the team does not need that advertisement ever again. petty much anyone in that commercial went on to a bad year The Lumber Co went on to hit 80 some HR, ranking 14th out of 14 teams
  2. It is kind of early to make any greay judgements on the Twins bullpen, or many other facets of the team. With about a third of their schedule against 2 of the worst teams in baseball it is hard to have a clear picture. They have had only one blown save. The pitchers used in high leverage situations have all performed except for Mejia. . The back end is not as lights out as one would like. The front end is not as deep as one would like. Almost every team has that problem.
  3. 228 PA against right handers, 107 against LH. Started 82 games, appeared in 102. I don't think the numbers would begin to support your statement
  4. Does 18 words make up the entirety of a person? 6 innings against one of the best offensive teams does not mean the entirety of what a player can be or is.
  5. Kepler in a small sample size of 27 AN has an OPS of .870. I wouldn't call it a failure to put him there Buxton has led off an inning 12 times and had better results. Buxton could be moved up to wherever Gonzales is batting. Batting 6th might not have the pressure of leading off a game yet is important.
  6. With MLB playing games in the rain the pitchers are going to have to learn the spitball.
  7. Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
  8. Ah fandom. Garver has a couple of good games there is the love. When Garver has a couple bad games in a row, out will come the pitchforks.
  9. I don't think 3 games is hardly a sample size to have any idea what the manager or FO thinks. If Darver and Zstudillo catch well enough and hit well enough Castro ends up the odd man out.
  10. Polonco is not a great base stealer despite having some speed. 600 or more PA a season for a player and nitpick the first game. Wow
  11. 82-80 with a new manager, 80-82 with a retread, every manager ends up averaging 81-81. Either it does not matter who manages a club on average or one needs to look for a different statistic than wins and losses to asses a new manager than average wins.
  12. There should be no need to rest a bat only player like Cruz.
  13. 50 or more vs 73. Meh. Not that big of difference. Much has been posted here about Molitor's use of the bullpen. About half of Hildenberger's negative value came in the second half of the season when Molitor used him 2 days in a row. So yes Hildenberger should have been used less. Not because he is an awful pitcher, but he was an overused pitcher.
  14. Barraclough and a half dozen other relievers were ahead of Hildenberger e race for the worst WPA.
  15. Free agent market is no guarantee, either https://blogs.fangraphs.com/offseason-spending-on-relievers-isnt-working-out/ Curtiss has not had a good spring, Burdi and Anderson have been projected to make the roster. Expecting to be right all the time is an unrealistic expectation
  16. Magill will have a job because when you look at WPA he was in the middle of the pack of the 250 relievers. In what fangraphs calls clutch, he was way above average. WPA/li says he is at the bottom third mark. Metrics for relievers is probably the trickiest thing to figure out.
  17. If Romero and Mejia are on a pattern of pitching 2-3 innings twice a week that shifts things considerably.
  18. I would rather see a prospect list of 20 high ceiling prospects than one that contained 10. Lower ceiling players are always available cheaply to fill in. . See Odorizzi, Perez, Austin, Cave, and other pieces the team has easily picked up. High end major league players are not so easily picked up.
  19. It would be hard to call any of them stars og 2 sports. High level players, but not stars
  20. When Harper or Machado has done what Betts or Trout has done you can call them generational talents.
  21. Ah but is the competition so fierce you need a fifth to mull over the fourth?
  22. Grandal's salary for 2019 is 16 million. He signed a contract with a mutual option and a 2.25 Million buyout. 2/32 is not such a steep drop from 3/39 or 4/50 which the Mets reportedly offered.
  23. Revenue increases over 10 years was half due to the opening of Target Field.
