  1. I don’t personally want to be the team the brings in the Gallos and Bundys to say we have proven vets. Its a complete waste of my time to spend rooting for 1 season guy that I’ve never cared for. Bring in a guy that is an actual investment in the team! In addition, when you draft guys and develop them into almost big leaguers, keep most of them around for at least a minute to see if they will pan out. Finally. With all the high pedigree draftees and international signees, we as fans expect them to be brought up when they are ready to succeed and we expect that to happen faster than average. Don’t hide them in AA and don’t trade them away. If there is another rookie class of 1-4 players ready in April or September bring them up. Stop making us watch the Gallo’s and shoemakers try to hold onto something they them selves cant admit that they have lost.
  2. C4 would slot in as infield utility and part time DH if his bat still plays. Julien would be part time DH and 1st base. Thats 3 Years out…
  3. @TopGunn#22 I didn’t see you mention Paddack. Would you trade him or put him in the BPen?
  4. Congrats on the gold glove!!! Nice to see that tradition of defense still valued in the org! He dies remind me of Gagne. I’ll take a glove first SS every day but this kid needs to spend more time swinging the bat in the cage. He doesn’t need power, just get on base!! Hit .280-.320 and take your walks. Take all the walks. I can see a way the C4 is playing a different position in 2026 when this kid is showing off his talents in the show.
  5. It is possible that the latest cleanup snip snip took care of the issue. He was just dealing with pain so if the pain is gone and his knee works like it should, he should be able to run and jump. Im going to just expect him to do the job he is being paid for….
  6. wouldn’t most teams prefer kepler in a trade deal as opposed to Larnach? I don’t see much trade value for him.
  7. I see a way to come up with 20M and keep bothKep and Polo. We trade Farmer& Gordon & Larnach and spend up-to just over 140M. If/when Polo and Kep are gone, the while dynamic of this team changes. I would definitely explore trading both of them but holy turnover on a team that just needs a little refinement. Someone needs to ((over pay)) for them cause I would be counting on them to play 130+ games. Polo alone can play every IF position and DH so he can be the utility guy that gets 500 at bats and save wear and tear on his ankles. If the young guys coming up can actually stick as MLBrs in 24, Kepler could be traded at the deadline or to a team that has an emergency need and will over pay. If he has a great season, ride him and let him walk. In 25, we get the salary flexibility and an open spot on the 40 man. 2025 is the real season of change because all the young guys are coming to MLB to stay…Lee, Erod, Martin, Rosario, Severino, maybe Jenkins. That team will be insanely different.
  8. No. But thanks. Too many young/soon to be regular MLB’rs shipped out.
  9. Lewis is contagious. Polo is invaluable in the locker room. He and Kepler are best friends so you would completely change the team dynamic by trading those guys. I would pick AK as the biggest possible comeback surprise for 24. He may have a monster season. Farmer is expendable if you put Polo in a Utility role with plans to bring Lee up if/when any infielder is injured. Simple math buys a front line SP to replace Gray. Trade Farmer for something that is payroll cheap or a prospect. Non tender Gordon or do something with him by training camp . Fill those 2 roster spots with pitching. Several ways to get 1 or 2 pitchers. (Budget of 15-20M in hand) to spend. Plan on 3 internal options in CF. The top (close to ready AAA options) all improve the batting lineup better than bringing in defensive specialist(s) at CF or 1B. Those types of moves also messes up the budget to buy pitching. This offseason is all about fine tuning. The youth movement is in mid swing (pun intended) 1. Lean on the 23 2nd half/postseason success. 2. Bring more of that youthful positivity into every days lineup. 3. Spend the budget$$$ available on something that you never have enough of. Pitching. (Many options availability out there) I hope the FO chooses wisely. Last thought on the AAA guys most likely to get to the show. Lee, Martin, Severino…. They are contact hitters. (Yes, I know about the K rate of Severino) They get on base. They score runs. They don’t cost much $$$$.
  10. Its worth a low cost shot at a depth piece. At 24 yo, he has time to add some discipline to his swing or he will just be another short term bandage type. Bring him up at some point and see if he will mature.
  11. But which normal? Role player, perennial allstar, or league MVP?
  12. Roll buxton out to CF in a wheel chair if you have to. He is getting paid $15M to play it. We need to spend $$$ on pitching.
  13. @Seth Stohs the non tender makes more sense. I was trying to clear more room on the 40 man and don’t give any value to Gordon in trades. He has lost his job to Castro so why keep him on the 40 man when those spots have actual value when trying to build the 2024 roster.
  14. Welp, we already have better options on the 40 man and Bader only works offensively against LH pitching. Hard pass on Bader.
  15. @tony&rodney agreed. I don’t see all these needs filled with a 125m payroll. You would have to trade Farmer and Polanco to find 17M. But now you lost half the coaching staff and veteran leadership. Couldn’t we pencil in Farmer for Solano’s roll in 1B duties? Miranda could also have a huge comeback season. Unless the team knows something about him thats not good? I got lots of questions. Lol.
  16. Its hard to imagine the impact of a healthy RL will have in 2024. 150 games? 100 RBI? 30/30 club? It could be crazy fun to watch!!
  17. There are lots of ways to buy WAR. Lots of luck involved with it also. With a magic wand and fairy dust, Buxton could play CF 125 games and hit 35 HRs. Miranda/ (insert a AAA RH bat) could be healthy and platooning at 1B to crush LH pitching. Varland/Festa/AAA pitcher of the week could develop into an unexpected 120 inning guy with 2.5 WAR. Pablo could be lights out and be a 6WAR cy young finalist. Its much more realistic to trade for it and/or buy it in FA. Spending a total of $129M in opening day salary is the easiest way to not replace Grays 5WAR.
  18. KK isn’t going to win us a World Series. Seems like he will just be another veteran waste of $$$.
  19. @Cap'n Piranha I agree completely. Lee has a lower ceiling but can still be a perennial allstar if his bat plays in MLB. He is close to MLB ready and will be needed as soon as aging infielders get traded or injured. He is the best available depth in AAA. He will be cheap talent for several seasons. Jenkins is potentially a generational talent that is no where near his ceiling and sell high time frame. 2 players that don’t get traded now for vastly different reasons. No team is going to over pay for them at this time either.
  20. Don’t we need an always gets on base and swipe 2nd twice a week type guy? We got plenty of swing and miss guys and a GIDP specialist. Lets add more baserunners.
  21. I anticipate several roster moves this week. Gordon most likely gets DFAd.
  22. True but it was an established veteran that we traded and got a long shot prospect back with Pablo. We didn’t over pay.
  23. Im all in on trading for a solid SP since ownership is not gonna open the $$$$ safe. I think the FO may be gun shy from the Mahle trade so we might be trapped in paralysis of no deal’s getting done until its time to panic. If the brewers want prospects, they probably wont get much from us. I would think our top 6-8 are off limits. Why would they want to trade a pitcher on a team friendly deal? Isn’t that what all teams strive to get? Someone trading for that player is going to over pay. Why would we overpay? Its more logical that the FO would trade Farmer and Polanco to reduce payroll for cheaper younger pitching with high upside. Slot in Lee at 2nd so we get an extra draft pick in 2025. We will get an extra in 2024 from Grays QO. If ERod and Jenkins get to MLB just as fast, thats even more extra draft picks. We all want a WS championship. Its not going to happen by trading away the farm but instead building it even bigger and better. There are deals to get done but let other teams over pay.
  24. If the Pohlads could ever figure out marketing, they could make money at spending money in baseball. This dude, like Otani, is gold for a franchise.
  25. The last time we signed a former whiteys pitcher, he blew so many saves that it was almost as if he was doing it on purpose. Lets not do that again.
