  1. Hard no. I want to see Erod and all our youngsters beat the Mets in the World Series in 2027.
  2. Hard pass on the homeless . Trevino if he can still throw and wants to play cheap.
  3. Thats a lot of money and time. I still think gray and others will be closer to 21M/yr average. Id still offer montgomery 4 years with options for yr 5&6. Limit the risk a little bit.
  4. @Fire Dan Gladden I disagree about Lee and the twins, they are in a great position because he may not be prime time until 2025. By then Farmer is gone, Polo is on an expiring contract if he is still here and C4 may need to slide out of SS. Miller wont be here until 26/27 so the FO is not going to purposely trade away their top IF prospect knowing that they will absolutely need to replace 2 existing starters by 4/26
  5. If buxton has an even average year and plays CF in over 100 games, no one will be screaming to trade him. We will be opining about how the injury bug is finally behind him and his $15M salary is in line with his production. Also that he is now the anchor to a very young outfield that wont have Kepler in ‘25. A quick look at the 40 man and you can easily see that we are a young, talented team (ranked 6th in MLB). There is no way the FO is going to trade away players that are cheap, controllable and no where near their ceiling of development. The FO has never made a huge FA pitcher signing, if they somehow figure out revenues this offseason or next, that may be the FO next big move.
  6. O I was just extending a joke about power hitters with last names that end in O. I don’t think Rosario is anything like those other guys except that. At his age he has tons of time to develop better hit skills and have a better career than all 3 of those guys. I believe his real development will begin in AA when he will be 2.5 years younger than average. I will definitely be betting on him to be a solid MLB’r in 4 years and if he finely tubes his craft, we may be talking about him for well over a decade.
  7. Trading is about improving the future teams. I would imagine most teams would want a crack at these 5 players. Unless the trade would be viewed as the twins getting a massive over pay in trading any of these guys away, get used to seeing them at Target Field. Of course Jenkins won’t be there until 26/27 at the earliest. Ownership at some point is going to really have to spend $$$ on player salaries so they better figure out marketing this team to increase the revenue stream. I doubt a blockbuster trade happens this off season for 2 reasons. The roster only needs a couple replacements and/or upgrades. Those can be accomplished by FA ($20M available) and internal promotion/growth replacement. With that being said, If another team is going to overpay for someone and it makes us better then we will see a trade(s).
  8. He has the job I always wanted… not talkin about that legal thing he does for money. 🥵
  9. He seems like a great kid. He has a long way to go to be in the show. At 21 yrs old…. So does most of the guys in MILB. Will he adjust his swing? Its going to be a nice show to watch over the next 3 years while he checks off more awards…. or not.
  10. RosariO …. Fits right in…
  11. Meanwhile, Garver is a WS Champion and we have an open spot on the 40 man to fill from dropping henriquez. Lets say thats spot #40 of 40. Do we need to track that next player to their end or is that too many degrees of separation?
  12. @Doctor WuIve heard that Raya is a bulldog like Gray. He doesn’t hold back and smart enough to communicate with mgmnt when he is gassed so he doesn’t blow the UCL. I believe when he was drafted there was talk about him not being physically mature yet so the whole limited pitches/innings plan fits with what what we have seen. So far he has developed well and is still really young so he could be super special. @DocBauer about the only prospects you didn't touch on are the home grown pitchers that have just got their feet wet in MLB. As they mature, I believe they will all stick around for a few years. A few years from now we may do a look back and be amazed at the success rate we have had from 2017-2023 drafted players vs. Who is in the show.
  13. Even tho Castro has options, so does Larnach and other players. You don’t stash them in AAA just to play other guys that don't have options. The best players make the varsity club to make the best team possible. The only way Gordon makes to opening day roster is if he is crushing it in spring training and there is at least 1 key player injured that he can cover for. There are also at least 2-4 guys right behind him in AAA already trying to take his spot on the 26 man.
  14. Falvey stated that to a reporter at the GM meetings 10 days ago. He said that payroll would likely be cut back to the 125-140M range.
  15. The two guys that I am most excited about are Soto because he was a SS with a cannon and physically outgrew it and throws 100mph heat at 18. Mind blowing. 2nd …. Winokar with his 5 tools on a lanky physical frame. Im gonna patiently wait until 2027 for them. The other list to watch is all the 2023 college pitcher draft picks. It is a deep pile of talent. I believe we have 3 draft picks in ‘24 in the top 45 picks or so if Gray signs for over $50M. Don’t sleep on 1 or 3 of the ‘24 draft class showing up in ‘27/28.
  16. @Nashvilletwin don’t forget to pay the salary of the polo trade roster spot or is that assumed to be pitching and included in that theoretical $30M?
  17. I’m sure they will all be tendered but I doubt they will all be on the opening day roster. So many questions to be answered by the start of training camp. With them all tendered, the salary total will be around $120M. We could literally do nothing more than sign a couple pitchers in FA and roll into April‘24 looking just like Sept ‘23. I’m not sure thats a good plan but we have had way worse teams in recent years.
  18. Welp, he can play CF but he needs to learn plate discipline. It might be too late for that tho. Seems like 2022 was just a flash of what he could have been. I've read some interesting stuff about him. In one interview he lamented about his focus being on hitting 440 ft hr’s. I’m thinking 🤔, dude, you are not mike trout or jose altuve, work on improving your whole game. ‘24 is his chance for a nice comeback story or a crash and burn flameout. His trade value right now is a head scratcher. Somewhere between a bucket of baseballs ⚾️ and fringe rule 5 prospect.
  19. @Shobaethe twins have the 10th ranked farm system and the 6th ranked MLB roster going into ‘24 while spending the 27th ranked budget? Someone is making good decisions.
  20. @chpettit19 agreed. The FO cant ever pick all the correct parts and it has taken a decade to get out of the garbage that lead to all those playoff loses. I believe this FO has learned from the Cavaco/Sobato type draft strategies that have been just plain bad in hind sight. The 23 draft class may become legendary if even a few of those pitchers fulfill draft expectations. If we go back to back with great drafts, we indeed could have an embarrassment of riches.
  21. @chpettit19 maybe its just coolaide drinking but I believe the twins are only 1/3 of the way thru a youth movement that will continue thru the start of 2027/28. Between the top pedigree draft picks, international signees and huge group of minor league pitchers, we will have a mostly homegrown team that is competitive for many years. Castro is going to be a very solid player, we are lucky that he was lost to us by a dysfunctional org. Unlikely that he will be an allstar but he has skills that we need. Miranda and AK just might put the injuries behind them which solves the whole 1B issue. The FO should have a good idea about their health very soon so if they don’t address it, trust that it has taken care of itself. So that leads to the next wave of rookies in 24/25… we only need 3of9/10 to stick 1 IF and 2 OF as everday starters. The last wave in 26/27 brings in the frosting on top. Probably two more everyday guys. Lastly, the pitchers and catchers, we have a solid but underwhelming group coming soon. This is why they have to focus on it in FA/trades/draft.
  22. @chpettit19 I would be disappointed about a 79 win season but I wouldn’t be upset about playing the younger guys. There are a lot of directions that the FO can go to improve the team for 2024. Just looking at a budget that has a $15M range (125-140M) suggests that they are exploring different ways to get a winning team on the field. The biggest issues we could face is a regress in pitching and injuries. He have plenty of infield depth so why upset that apple cart. Replace gray as best you can. Don’t sign an $11M Gallo or a $2M Bundy/Archer/Shoemaker combo platter of barf to replace Gray. The offense needs base runners, play Castro every day. Somewhere. Find another kid that can get on base regularly. Great pitching and base runners wont lose 90 games.
  23. Last I heard, the pohlads are so cheap that they don’t even carry your fault insurance. Lol
