    This kid is special. I was in highschool when Kirby made the team and in college in 87 and 91 during the best days of the Twins. This season and now October feels a lot like 1987. Its Roycetober & Kirby is smiling that smile!

    He wont be rested. He will most likely be at 3rd base with polanco being the DH on his gimpy ankle. The great thing about out team is that we have 3-4 guys that can play any given position so they will start with guys that are healthy and productive.

    3 more days of rest/rehab for Lewis. He should be just fine to start at 3rd. Same thing can be said for C4 at SS. It would be nice to see Buck sit in the dugout and not be used but for the wild card series, it probably makes more sense to roster Stevenson.

    I doubt we will play the Rangers or Blue Jays. I’d like to see the Astros looking in from the outside just because.

    Yeah. Every team in MLB would love to have him on the roster despite his lack of a 67 mph knuckler that he can consistently throw for strikes. 🤣

    Paddack will be on the roster. Doubt they will roster less than 12 pitchers.

    Its not as easy as just penciling in “a replacement player” but if thats your parameters I understand what your saying and how you come to those conclusions.

    Your conclusion is pure conjecture. Those games that gray pitched would have been completely different. You cant just remove gray and not have 1000 other consequences.

    Someone should do a deep dive into why we lost 17 games that Sonny pitched. I can’t take “Gray team MVP” seriously. Seriously.

    Great article. We got some nice pitchers (finally) after years of having less than anything close a complete roster of decent hurlers. The real question is the oddity of how hitting a round object with another round object seemed so much easier after the allstar break vs. before it.

    Such a frustrating season and a great game to send them into the playoffs! One win won’t cut it. Deep run into October baseball needs to happen!!

    The Twins have one of the better records in MLB since the allstar break. Are we in a weak division? Yes. Have we held their own against playoff opponents? Also yes. Are we a young team? Absolutely yes. The FO did its job and got enough talent to play well into October. Don’t be a hater. The Twins have a great chance at making a run deep into the playoffs just based on the pitching staff. The runs scored will be the determining factor tho.

    I remember that time when Arozerena made a huge playoff splash with the Rays. Could Lee do that? Sure. Its not likely that our FO would do such a thing tho. The fan base would love to see it but it may not be the best business decision. Now if the infield takes another injury hit with say Julien or Polanco then it could definitely be an option.

    Yup and guys with options will be sent down but they wont be removed from the 40 man. It would be an option to just DFA Gallo tho.

    Anyone that is going to be on the post season roster is already on the 40 man so this must be a question of who goes after the season? Obviously Gallo, Mahle wont be under contract and will the twins bring back Polanco or Kepler? Then you have guys like Oliver Ortega, Luplow, Stevenson. We got a lot of younger guys to protect from rule 5.

    Based on OPS, unless Gray has a low pitch count and is cruising with a decent lead of 3 or more runs ahead, he will not see a 7th inning. Lopez likely wont see an 8th inning unless he has a shutout going and low pitch count. We got the best pitching available in decades, the boys need to pound out huge run support tho.

    I know Castro isn't a rookie but he didn’t cost us anything but salary and a cheap one at that. One of the best signings in all of MLB. I was not a fan of bringing him aboard but oh boy was I wrong!!!

    I don’t see buxton and stevenson both rostered. I don’t think we will have less than 11 pitchers either. Many of the middle relievers won’t be rostered because guys like maeda, ober, Paddack, Varland, kuekel can and will be used to piggyback or be bullpen arms.

    With a magic # of six and any combination of a twin win or a cleveland loss in 24 games to play between both clubs puts the twins in the playoffs. We literally would have to lose 12 and Cleveland win 7 of 12 for them to be central camps. No way that would happen same as if they went 12-0 and we went 5-7. Stick a fork in the season already. Its over.

    There are a few hard decisions to make because with Kepler and Polanco on the 40 man, there is not enough room to protect everyone that could be lost in the rule 5 draft. As fans, we should be prepared to watch some of these guys play for a different organization.
