  1. That internal brace must be important to holding the arm together. If his arm is bouncing back every 5-6 days, he should put up some amazing stats. It would not surprise me to see some sort of piggy back starts in Aug/sept where paddack and an SWR/headrick team up for 7 inning stints.
  2. Well if our high to moderate prices vets have a solid season, we can afford to play some rookies to see who will stick in MLB.
  3. @jorgenswest Some guys just have it. Coaches kids that are athletic and love the game kinda have an unfair advantage. I remember that ‘91 spring well! What a great team!!
  4. @LA VIkes Fan I agree with most of what you said. I do believe that our prospect depth is deeper than most think. I do hope that we don’t need to do the break glass emergency call ups because of multiple bad injuries. That will derail any team no matter how deep they are. I base my positivity on starters being healthy all season with minor DL stints. No UCL tears, no torn knee ligaments. Its a given that we will have a couple shoulder impingements, oblique strains and such but somehow. If we are going deep into the playoffs, we need everyone healthy in October !!
  5. The team is not weaker than ‘23 in any respect. We literally have the 8th best odds at winning the WS this year. That wasnt even a discussion a year ago. 4 key players are 100% healthy which wasnt the case a year ago. Our starting pitching has question marks but we are deeper than a year ago with more upside. The Twins weren't good until the rookies stepped up last year. Gray got rocked in October. Mahle and Gallo were bumbs even before they got injured. Polanco was a productive part time guy but he is replaced by Julien and Santana so thats a plus for ‘24. I would already rank ‘24 as a better starting team than 23’ending team.
  6. Lee is likely to be a new franchise cornerstone much like Polanco was a decade ago. As a fan, I would love to see him break camp with the Twins and be the ROY winner in ‘24. That’s just not probable. Will he be a Twin in ‘24, absolutely! He is going to be here a long time. Get used to cheering for him cause he is going to do awesome things for a long time.
  7. But if you take the 26M and make it 10M payroll net increase by sending Farmer and another 10M vet down the road, is the team better off or will we lack depth in the field? Obviously the team is opting for depth in the field vs. depth in the rotation.
  8. I haven’t heard any of his interview and I do understand his stance on not signing a pitcher for $30M. As a fan, do I want to see Monty or Snell in a Twins uniform, absolutely! If thats all the disaster was, it wasn’t a disaster. We have a very good team going into ‘24. Maybe one of the best in a very long time.
  9. It’s not actually a hurry considering he played college ball. He isn’t 20 years old. The value in Lee playing MLB is moving on from Farmer and Investing that $6M+ toward another ace pitcher. As long as Lee is ready and playing In MLB for the full ‘24 season, we have a shot at a ROY award and the draft pick at 31/32 in 2025. That pick could have massive future value to the team. The downside risk is getting rid of another seasoned professional MLB player and working thru the probable Lee rookie growing pains. personally, I would keep Farmer but I also understand that if Lee could step in immediately, that $6M could help sign better SP.
  10. Did anyone hear what Joe Pohlad had to say yesterday about payroll. Apparently his interview was a disaster and they will be talking about it at 11am 🕚 on KFAN.
  11. Jeffers is still young. Just entering his prime so it’s reasonable to expect improvement and growth. He will be catching 120 games so he will have more opportunity than ‘23. A 140 ops+ is not out of the question. Rock solid is how we should look at our top 3 options at C.
  12. Drafted players who sign at 19 or older have to be added to the 40 man within 4 years or they will be eligible for the rule 5 draft. CP will be eligible after the 2026 season. That should give the twins plenty of time to know where his career is headed.
  13. Having Paddack pitch the day before lopez, we could count on a rest day for the bullpen when lopez pitches. And, we would already know who needs the rest day.
  14. We have plenty of options to be mostly mediocre at the #5 SP. plenty of possibilities that some young guy will step up and be much better than mediocre.
  15. Since it was just a brace that was installed in his bionic elbow in July of 2023, it sounds like he will be doing some rehab this summer and be building back up for an MiLB role in 2025. It’s going to be fun following his progress!
  16. Give me Buxton in CF most days. He is pain free and healthy. IF he stays that way, any number of other guys can regress and it wont matter. We will have a monster season. I’m calling the over 130 games in CF. C4 will get his 140 at SS. We only need more pitching!! (always) we got a few rookies that will likely step into important roles so we got most everything covered. Time to play ball!!
  17. The favorite only because of previous MLB experience and the hope that he can finally hit a breaking ball. he will be playing the bench, pinch hit and be an available COF. Not an exciting option! Martin can play Castro II utility role. Exciting for his OBP and run manufacturing abilities. He s young and might send Larnach packing if he has an excellent MLB debut. Miranda will be in AAA getting ready for his “Im back and better than ever” tryout due to an injury. Lee wasn’t mentioned and I expect him to not be on the 26but never say never. He is the best option long term. Highest floor. Highest ceiling of all possible on the list. He should not be sitting on the bench tho! Martin likely gets the nod for the simple fact that he or Castro has to cover Buxtons inability to play in CF and a 2nd utility man is a must.
  18. There are lots of possibilities. These young guys are wound so tight and seem to be fragile to the point that they never play a full season. Its only lottery odds that everyone stays healthy and performs at the highest of levels for 162 games.
  19. To be fair, we are swapping Gray,Mahle,Maeda for Ober,Paddack,DeSclafani. We have also reloaded Ober,Varland,SWR with Varland,SWR,Festa,Lewis. Now, had we added anyone of the top FA’s or traded for a stud, we would have a top 3-4 rotation in MLB. Pablo is definitely a top 5-6 pick in the AL a CyYoung every year for the foreseeable future.
  20. @Nashvilletwin I love to see lists like this because almost everyone of those guys played SS at some point in their journey to MLB. The FO deserves compliments for drafting and development!! With 3 picks in the top 60 this year, expect to add a name or 2 to the twins top 30 prospects. I would expect De Andrade or Miller to be busting down the door in 3 years to take over an infield spot.
  21. This is it. The Polads wont seriously invest in a one year run at a WS championship. They want a moneyball mid/long run open window of just reaching the playoffs and “lets see what happens.”. $60M buys us out of this for 1 yr. pay Monty or Snell $30M with a mutual option for the next 3 years or some quirky $5M buyout. Silly details. pay Bellinger $30M as a one year hired gun. Give him a bus ticket to Chicago in November.
  22. Oh I know but if he pulls a gallo ‘23 on us. We all will and the FO will hear about it. Lol
  23. Those stats may not be equal but others are. There is also availability to take AB’s. IL stints are definitely in polo’s favor. Now if Santana implodes like Gallo, I will be the 2nd guy to call him a bumb and rip the FO.
  24. It seems like he is a young version of Sonny Gray. Hall was a known commodity in college ball but it was a deeep draft. The kids knows how to mix his pitches and put up 00000’s. He will develop what he needs to, to have a successful MLB career. Just another great 4th round pick for the Twins. Lol
