    I hate to say it, but I expect Polanco to be moved. Always liked him, but that's my guess. I also think Miranda has a place right now as a platoon with Kirilloff at 1B, and to face lefties all the time. If he shows more than that, good. I could also see the Twins bringing in a different right handed hitter to platoon with Kirilloff, but there will be space IF Miranda is going well right? There are guys that have things to prove. Larnach and Wallner for sure, although I think Wallner has a leg up there. I can see Kepler or Larnach getting traded too, but if they are trying to win I can see Larnach going elsewhere instead of Kepler. I LOVE Julien's eye at the plate, and his ability to hit fastballs. He also did show growth on the defensive side. We'll see how it all plays out. Generally things have a way of figuring themselves out. But I don't expect them to FORCE something that isn't ready.

    That's what I figured. I wouldn't see an extension happening before the 2024 season, or possibly even during the season. But build trust and show that you are a good team to work with, and then figure it out this next summer/fall at some point. But yeah, I'd be getting him to help in 2024, and figure the rest out later on.

    I think of it as, Correa is going to play 130 (or more) games at SS, hopefully Lewis plays 140 games at 3B and 1B and 2B and DH will all be guys who can rotate around. Same with the outfield. I'd imagine the Twins would be very happy with a number of guys getting 500 plate appearances right? There will be at bats for players that are going well.

    Yes, over both 2021 Miranda and possibly 2023 Wallner.

    They can afford him, and they could afford an extension when it comes to that. I would probably mean moving off of some combo of Polanco/Kepler/Farmer in 2024, and all by 2025, but otherwise they can afford Burnes.

    Are you able to elaborate on the part where you said the Twins are still in contact with Milwaukee on a potential Corbin Burnes trade? That part piqued my interest. :) But I didn't know about today's arbitration deadline either. Thanks!

    Just wanted to add; Ryan threw 165 2/3 innings last year, including his minor league numbers. I wouldn't be shocked to have him closer to 180 if he is healthy. Baily Ober, including minor leagues, threw 167 innings last year. I think he can get to that number too, just in the majors. This is a good discussion though. I do think Paddack will have his innings monitored as well, along with Varland (if he does completely stay in the rotation all year, even with Varland throwing a combined 149 2/3 innings.) Hopefully they add at least one more starter that can get to, at minimum, 165-180 innings. I am excited to see what SWR and Festa can bring, along with others, after these 6 or 7 (I say 6 or 7 because I think they add at least one playoff level starter, and probably another one too.)

    There is the dh and outfield spots to move guys around IF everyone is healthy. When Lee is ready, he will be up. That’s not a bad thing

    Maybe eventually. Not in 2024. I want Lewis to have a run of playing somewhere, being comfortable, and staying healthy. 2b maybe? 1b? Somewhere. His bat will play, and frankly I like his glove more than Julien’s too. Maybe that moves Julien to dh or left or something, but Lee will be up some how

    I think you underestimate how good of a prospect Brooks Lee actually is. When he is ready there is space for him.

    Lee is a much better prospect, and more pro-ready, than you describe. When he is ready, there isn't anyone that will hold him back on the mlb roster.

    Yeah I wouldn't be shocked to see DeSclalfini retire after 2024. He's had so many arm issues over the years. Wish him well.

    I mean, we all watched Delmon and Josh Willingham "defend" in the outfield. Heck, Astudillo tried out there too. They even thought Sano would be a good option out there. Ugh.

    Why not have a scenario where Julien starts to use an outfielder's glove? Having him out in left field occasionally can't be the worst thing IF they have better options in the infield right?

    I more meant, this way they can control innings and pitch count a smidge easier, and also make sure that he enters games at the start of innings to have a clean start (not with guys on base.) That's all.

    That's what they said they will do though, to prepare him as a starter this spring. At least that way, I imagine, they can control his workload in a sense.

    Martin I see sooner, and possibly opening day. Gordon especially doesn't really fit utility with the other players they have, so I'm KIND OF expecting a trade. I mean, is Gordon really a viable option anywhere other than left field? Lee, if he is healthy, is up a lot faster too. Maybe not opening day, but certainly before July. I do find it interesting you list Canterino as an April option. IF they are bringing him along as a starter, (even if eventually they move him to bullpen) I can't see a scenario that he debuts that quickly. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm also very interested in how much playtime time Severino has at the mlb level. Part of me thinks that he gets playing time only if there are a LARGE amount of injuries, but that's always an option. Even if he has power, I don't see how he supplants other guys if other guys are healthy.

    Nah, I want nothing to do with DeSclafini. IF they are trading Farmer, I'd want a prospect back instead, even if it is a B or C level guy.

    Curious where you see that the Twins had interest on a shorter term deal? If that is true, that's interesting that they would be thinking of signing a free agent starter. Plus, in essence, his deal is 2/30. Can't get much shorter than 2 years with opt outs right? Also, I absolutely take Burnes/Peralta (at minimum) well over Steele/Taillon in the NL central. For me it's not really that close.

    @harmony55Just curious, what is Sam Carlson up to these days? He was a Minnesota high school prospect drafted fairly high a few years back by the Mariners, and if I remember correctly he got hurt soon in his professional career. Not asking for trading purposes, just curious if you know what's going on with him?

    Blueprints are tough these days then. If someone isn't on the team, they just perish :)

    Just to add; Jon Morosi today connected Polanco and Kepler (not together, one of them) to Toronto for Alek Manoah. He said he didn't know that a conversation has happened, but Toronto does really like both Kepler and Polanco, and Manoah would be a reasonable ask. Food for thought.
