  1. That FEELS like a homerun draft to me :) What do you think of high school pitcher Justin Lee? He intrigues me quite a bit in terms of projection.
  2. So let's say at #5 it's one of the 3 outfielders. If you were to draw up your dream/realistic mock for picks #34 and #49, who are you hoping would fall to those spots?
  3. You are right; one game should DEFINITELY be weighed more than the entirety of the rest of his career :)
  4. I don't see how you regret making a deal like this. You always have to give up something to get something, and arguably Steer and CES don't have a place on this roster, maybe at any point now or in the future arguably. Sometimes trades work out amazing. Sonny Gray, Joe Ryan, Jhoan Duran et al certainly are wins here, along with (arguably) Odorizzi for when he was healthy. So, you do this trade every time it comes up, and then see it play out. Wish him the best of luck in rehab, and I'd love to extend him still if possible.
  5. Huge bummer. I had such high hopes with the deal last year. And I would 100% make that trade every single time the situation like that unfolds. Sucks how it turned out.
  6. Ok, who else is excited to see Lewis and Lee in the same lineup together for the first time today? I know I am. :)
  7. Isn't it kind of set up as a collaborative thing too, like how it is on the pitching side? I can't for the life of me see an outsider being hired in-season. And if it is an internal hire that takes over, why wasn't that person chosen first?
  8. Hopefully over the next 10 days to 2 weeks, Miranda gets a fresh start and is able to reset his mind a bit. There is a good hitter in there, just have to find it. Now, I'm curious if he is going to be a full time 3b at some point. With Lewis working rehab at 3b, I wonder if Miranda will become more the 1b/dh/3b whenever his bat is ready. First, get the bat ready and let the rest get figured out.
  9. 1) Lee 2) Lewis 3) Rodriguez 4) Prielipp 5) Julien 6) Raya 7) Salas 8) SWR 9) Festa 10) Varland 11) Mercedes 12) Miller 13) Balazovic 14) Martin 15) Wallner 16) Henriquez 17) Canterino 18) Urbina 19) Schobel 20) Rodriguez
  10. I would trade a fair offer of prospects for a bat like his. :)
  11. This is probably a dumb idea, but why not try for someone like Eloy Jiminez? He is signed through 2024 with a few club options attached. He is mostly a dh at this point, but he is a good right handed hitter when healthy. Chicago certainly will be looking to sell before the July deadline, and maybe they wouldn't be looking to help the Twins out. Just a thought.
  12. That's kind of where I'm coming around here too. Teel's bat, his arm, and his ability to stay at catcher and be a good catcher are all exciting to dream on. I will say that if any of the top 3 college guys falls to 5, it'd be difficult to pass on them. But Teel is right there for me at options for #5.
  13. I think barring injury, the correct answer for the moment would be Larnach. He needs a reset of sorts. This is of course assuming Kirilloff is fully ready to go
  14. Crystal ball time here; if you could pick a player (not Ohtani or someone else higher end with a no trade clause) that COULD be available that you would hope for personally, who would you want the Twins to acquire to help the offense? I'm hoping for someone who has some pop, is a good clubhouse presence, and would hopefully help the defense as well in a corner spot. Anyone come to mind for you?
  15. That sounds like a fun draft plan Jamie. Thanks for the response! And yeah, adding Clark or Jenkins, along with a couple of other college bats, will greatly improve our system. I am of the thinking that either Jenkins or Clark would slot at or near the top of our current rankings, possibly even above Lee. Do you agree with that? I'm also curious where you would GUESS a college hitter (let's say ranked in the #25-40 range) would fit into our rankings as they pick at #34. Would that hitter, theorhetically, be in our top 10?
  16. Hard to argue with this premise. Larnach does have potential, but he has to start showing it. Kirilloff I think is ready in the next week or so, and Gallo has been hitting. Longer term, I admit, I don't know that I trust Wallner to be THAT GUY either. I wouldn't hate looking at the trade market for a good hitting corner outfielder at some point this season too.
  17. I don't see anyone being traded at a low point like him. But maybe he becomes the 1b/dh on this team who can occasionally fill in at 3b. I do think Kirilloff and Lewis, and maybe even Lee, are all up at some point this year. That's outside of injuries that are bound to occur, and potential trades. The group as a whole has to start finding consistent offense some how.
  18. I do think this team looks an awful lot different in August than it is currently constructed. Interesting to see how the pieces fit. It's always possible that Miranda is dealt too, but who knows. I hope he can start hitting.
  19. I still really like the potential of his bat, but he has been scuffling an awful lot to start this season. I'm starting to think that Lewis's arm and athleticism would look really great at 3b in a month or so, but I don't know what that means for Miranda. He does need to start hitting at some point, and with that hopefully chasing less pitches outside of the strike zone.
  20. But what about the analytics that came and stole my ham sandwich from the work fridge earlier today? What about THAT Brock?!?! :)
  21. Stewart has the stuff, it appears, for me to make that number 5. Short sample, but his stuff is impressive.
  22. I get that. But let's say Lopez goes 1-2-3 in the 7th (like he has for the rest of the year basically) and the Twins then hold on for the win. That could have certainly been an outcome last night, no? Would the coach's role in that outcome have been better than what happened last night?
  23. I'll echo what others have said regarding Balazovic; I'm excited to see how he looks this year. I still believe there is a good pitcher in there. :)
