  1. They said they were going to crack down on the sticky stuff. It's a bunch of baloney. Baldelli was right to complain. Shame on MLB to allow this to continue. Cease was also suspected & was not checked. There's a lot of cheating going on by the untouchables. I guess we have rise up above them.
  2. I think Solano has been sold as a RH bat that'll be handy against LHP. But he has been more than that.
  3. IDK if he qualifies as a diamond in the rough because he been developed in SF, but he has came through with some clutch hits & has taken over sole posession of 1B. I don't believe that Gordon will make Solano obsolete at 2B nor LH hitting Julien. Because a RH platoon could be necessary.
  4. The addition of P. Lopez & Vazquez has done wonders for our rotation, as was expected. Larnach still has some adjusting to do. And E Rod is being E Rod, he can hit. There's a lot of thoughts that could be had pertaining to the rotation, BP, catching, prospects etc.
  5. Ugh! terrible, no wonder SD isn't doing much even with the players they have (it's hard to get respect with those unis). Nellie has been proving many people wrong. Keep it up.
  6. Yes, it's wonderful. The reducing of dead time is advantagious to keep fans into the game not off on another tangent & being disconnected. A connected fan help the players motivated. It's very enjoyable.
  7. Hats off to the pinstripes (not NYY). It's been a long time since we had our pinstripes against NYY and they came through. Of course hats off to Varland (the rookie), Correa (who had been in a bad slump) J Lo and even Pagan (who likes to give us heart attacks). This a game we look back on and say this was a turning point from good to great. The way we've been playing we could sweep the bums. Feels good, GO TWINS!!!!!!!
  8. The early results showed they could get it done but didn't have the arms & BP to sustain it. Atlanta won the World Series on BP games, it's just a matter of knowing how use long relief. It's great to have 5 SPs that can regularly go 7 innings, but for many reasons that's not possible. A great manager is one that is able to go outside his ideal mindset (that he wants) and is able to adjust to the cards he's dealt and enjoys the challenge.
  9. Hopefully Farmer won't be gone more than the 10 days & if so not much more. Then Castro might be the one going. Polanco would unfortunately push out Julien. Kiriloff has had some time in rehab in the OF. If Julien had more time at 1B, odds would have been better that he stays up. In that case Kiriloff would push out Larnach. Or a trade could be done to accommendate Larnach.
  10. I think that the injury to Farmer has most impacted this team's depth. He's our main back up at SS, 3B & 2B. With Polanco still gone, that makes us very vunerable defensively at those positions especially 2B.
  11. I was thinking the same about his arm hurting, that he'd have to get his arm stronger. Plus cleaning up his mechanics will do wonders. 90 is pretty good for small college but who knows what can happen, plus picking up how to pitch to college players. It's a never ending process.
  12. Yeah, freshman year is tough, getting situated. But once settled in, he'll blossum. Next year he'll have a great record. Do you think he'll start next year?
  13. I believe a better comparison is Lopez to Bundy, Mahle to Ober and Maeda to Archer. But the biggest difference between this season to last is the BP. Last season we had Pagan & Duffy as closers, Smith who quickly petered out & the rest unproven rookies. The BP imploded which broke the rotation. Plus you have to take into consideration our SPs had little to practically no ST to ramp up, our game calling was terrible last season. Our rotation & BP make up last season was totally adverse to the way Baldelli likes to manage than the one we have now. The addition of Lopez & Vazquez, normal ST ramping up, strong BP, Ober taken slower, supervision of Paparesta (probably the result of Maeda sitting out), I don't see the BP imploding or the injuries & ineffectiveness of our rotation we had last season. If good care is done, I don't see much recession.
  14. Yeah, I don't like when a position player serves meatballs to hitters which artifically padds their stats either. And I'd like the option of a team to concede a game if they choose to, to help shorten a game. But since that's not an option, using a positional player to save the BP is an obvious smart move especially if a team has a poor BP to start with. With an important series, if MN was in the same boat & used 2 long RPs (pitching at least 3 innings) & a positional player to pitch, I'd applaud their ingenuity
  15. Thanks, Ted. Besides being totally blessed last night by Twins humiliating the Yanks in their own backyard. But also my man Richardo Olivar, having a great day. Olivar is the catching prospect you've never heard of. That tore up FSL last season. Olivar needs help with his catching so I'm very happy that he's primarily being used there this season. I was concerned about his hitting, being promoted to heavy pitching Ft. Myers A ball and having heavier duties catching. But this break out has made me very happy.
  16. I was expecting the Twins to play NYY tough but they went far beyond surpassing my expectations. Julien at lead off might of sparked something there. That & the pinstripes. Seth you listed the top 3 WPA - Top 3 WPA: Jose Miranda (0.124), Byron Buxton (0.076), Carlos Correa (0.068). I'm surprised that (CF) Taylor & (C) Vasquez didn't top that list. I tip my hat to NYY for using 2 long RPs & IKF to limit the BP damage.
  17. IMO I think we are sitting pretty well, even with the extra precautions & injuries. My main concern isn't how well we start but how well we finish. This season it'll be great when Correa starts to get rolling in the 2nd half that we have Buxton, Polanco & Co to rally going into the post season. I also predicted that Correa's defensive #s would nicely improve with the shift ban.
  18. I really enjoy your articles related to the draft, Jeremy. You like to dive into HS draftees don't you, Jeremy? But unless you're a Max Clark, where you'll get the big bucks, I see them going to college. I like Zion Rose too but like you said he's heading to Louisville where he'll get the development he wants to become a high prospect catcher, so I don't believe he'll get drafted. I also like Gopher's Klassen and I thinking he's starting to get a handle on his control but I believe & hope that that he'll want go back to U of M to refine himself before he commits to the draft. It'll be interesting if the Twins actually land any of these draft prospects.
  19. IMO Alcala's success or failure will come not by 1 or 2 MPHs on his FB but on his development of his change up and his other pitches.
  20. Farmer has been a valuable player wish him a speedy recovery. Castro looked decent at SS. These guys need to hold down the fort until Polanco is ready. Disappointed that Gray didn't go more than 5 innings.
  21. Love E Rod's potential. Like Hendricks game. Winder makes sense at RP for a time because he's good there at least until he gets 100% & eased back into SP. RP is Winder's best shot at MLB. The Cedar Rapids Kernels placed C Charles Mack on the 7-day injured list (concussion) and C Wilfri Castro was assigned from the FCL Twins in a corresponding move. My question is did Castro (C) (rookie) jumped over low A to high A, replacing Mack (C)? or was there a high A catcher promotion from low A that corresponded and Castro was temporarily promoted to low A? With a back up of INFers in high A, When is (AA) Lee going to be promoted to AAA?
  22. Buxton & Larnach have the bats but the story line is can we keep them on the field? Hopefully with Paparesta philosophy we can. Gallo & Kepler can they bounce back now the shift is gone? With Gallo it's also being away from NYYs, But the Twins greatest need isn't Gallo tacking on HR after HR but getting hits when we need them & not SOs. Kepler is the one we really need to have turn it around, not only contributing to the offense but also someone we can trade down the line and get someone we need for him.
  23. Lopez has been a great asset, from the beginning I've said we need to extend him. Longer we wait, more difficult it'll be. Happy that Buck got his 100th at the right time, Taylor had a good day at the plate, we won the game and Julien is up to take Gallo's spot at 1B. Only sad part is that Lopez didn't get the win. Correa hurry back we need your D. Go Twins!
  24. We desperately need a lead off hitter like Julien. Julien should stick as a LH 1B, even after Gallo returns. I wondered why they didn't give Julien more time at 1B. I suppose they didn't think he needed it and they figured that they could stretch him into a 2B man. Much like they tried to do with Martin at SS. Wish him the best and he'd be able shine up here & give us that spark to ignite this offense. IMO that Julien will shine here and that Kiriloff might have to prove himself before he'd be able to take over 1B. Very happy for Julien & the Twins.
