  1. IMO the Twins have overreacted by obtaining new vets. Varland is better than DeSclavani, Martin is better than Margot for example. By obtaining these new vets will limited our own players MLB experience & evaluation. So I'm against getting any new SP now although I'm not against signing a SP like Rich Hill on a special minor league contract yet giving our own SPs priority. I'd rather have traded for a front-line SP this offseason rather than the deadline because their more expensive & you know less what you're getting.
  2. It makes much more sense to have Vazquez glove in the game yet have Jeffers bat at DH against LHPs
  3. I'd like to limit both Paddack & Varland's innings, Maybe even have them piggyback to begin the season.
  4. Great job Seth! Very good analysis. Hope they can figure it out.
  5. I imagine Jeffers can DH against LHPs, as an extra RH hitter
  6. It was refreshing to hear Baldelli voice the importance of long relief where as soon as '22 when Bundy & Archer were signed on the idea of incorporating the piggyback system & then later abandoned for the 1 & done approach. That quickly burned out the BP & then the rotation.
  7. He passed through waivers so it's up to him if he can put anything together. Twins will string him along this year.
  8. When we entered the off-season, the #5 SP was not a need, So losing DeSclafani did not create any void and FA is not the solution. FA will not solve our true problem anyway. In-house- Varland, SWR, Headrick, Festa, etc, are more than enough to help us win the division crown. If we need added insurance, sign Rich Hill to a minor league deal.
  9. Rich Hill is a great mentor, he could help a lot with some of our prospects
  10. Rich Hill is a great guy to have around
  11. Desclafani hasn't been good for a while & chances of him really contributing was very slim. We have in-house pitchers who can easily fill the 5th SP spot better than Desclafani. Twins need to spend their money wisely picking up another Desclafani via FA isn't wise.
  12. Main concern is Duran & Thielbar. As long as we have them for the postseason I'm fine. Canterino's injury is to be expected being away for so long, the injury isn't that serious & he'll eventually work himself back into shape. When he does he'll be great. BTW love your title Matthew
  13. The system is really broken with all emphasis on velo & stuff, most pitchers will be shot by the time they arrive at FA. Especially if they have any kind of extension. They will never get their pay day.
  14. These are preseason games that don't count & I agree with the rule of saving pitchers from pitching too long into an inning. But when regular season starts players will have plenty of opportunities to share their insights.
  15. Yeah, they are just hurting themselves. IMO you are right that these 2 pitchers are trying to sell high on their good year w/o a lot to back it up with any consistency & teams aren't buying it. A lot of teams are hurting & those who aren't, already have their SPs.
  16. Moving Lewis (potentially our future SS now) to 1B is a waste of talent & we are of need of good INF talent
  17. I was hoping to watch that video & glean something from how good Conger is as a catching coach. I learned absolutely nothing. Conger was the straight man for Domingo Ayala's comical portrayal of how good he is. Conger might be a fun guy in the clubhouse but how much is he able to develop our catchers defensively? I'd rather our catching coach focus on solely on catching with drafting & developing defensive catchers & not be distracted with 1B. IMO Twins aren't concerned about our catching defense & is more concerned about our defense at 1B. There needs to be a big change concerning this.
  18. IMO this year is Ober's defining year. Will he pass Ryan as MN's #2? IMO Ober will take a step forward but will he or Ryan take a big enough step to shine in the postseason is yet to be seen. I don't care actually how many innings they're able to pitch or even great they are during the season, I do care that they'll pitch at the top of their game to become that SP we need coming postseason along side Lopez.
  19. Let me understand, you want to trade away another quality INFer, one that has all-star potential & switch hitter for another cOFer bat to platoon w/ Wallner. Call up FO they'd go for it but sorry Doc, I don't.
  20. Unlike the Twins (who prioritize hitting), most serious teams prioritize defense at catcher. If Jeffers can maintain average defense, it's a step in the right direction and the Jeffers/ Vazquez tandem ranking would be higher. Our catching prospects depth are not ranked because of lack of defense development. I hate to see what condition our catching will be when Vazquez leaves or gets hurt for any substantial amount of time.
  21. Daniel Duarte seems like the pitcher that the Twins take & make something out of, that's what the Twins do. But the FO isn't being our savior by putting together this BP to help us win the division, we'd have won it anyway. And this BP isn't going to help us advance in the postseason, that's why we needed a postseason SP, who they failed to pick up. This BP hype is to distract us from our losses, Gray, Maeda & Polanco.
  22. I still have confidence in the core. Larnach, Miranda, Vazquez & Alcala are encouraging. Hopefully, soon they get past the experimenting & into cooking.
  23. It seems like there are few pitchers that have unfortunate names, Blewett is one of them. They should change their names. If he hadn't lost the game I'd probably not notice it.
  24. I was one of the few that didn't want to give him away. It took him longer than I expected but he came back stronger than I expected.
