  1. Dman, I agree with your picks but do you have any sleeper picks or under the radar guys that may surprise this year.
  2. Bring on Larnach, I know he has had limited official AAA experience but I believe he spent last summer at the alternate site practicing and scrimmaging AAA talent.
  3. Agree with jkcarew-Cave is the one that will have his playing time decreased when Sano returns. AK primarily playing LF, and occassional 1B for Sano. Garlick play against LH pitchers, Arraez, 2B, 3B, to give infielders rest maybe even DH. Don't see much of a role for Cave, Astidillo can at least play multiple positions and emergency catcher.
  4. Need some major BP adjustments, may need to DFA someone to allow a roster addition. Unfortunately, doubt the next dominant closer is sitting at St. Paul and anyone still unsigned will not be the answer either. FO may have gotten overconfident this offseason with recent good luck picking up other teams cast offs.
  5. AAA roster full of experienced players, only 4 pitchers and 5 position players with no MLB experience. Ps- Barnes, Jax, Ober, and Duran. Position players-Hamilton, Wiehl, Maggi, Gordon, and Larnach. 2 Ps no AAA time-Duran and Ober, Larnach only position player with no AAA experience. Not saying right or wrong only an observation.
  6. I am hoping for a new arm or 2 to get the call. Unfortunately, there has not been any MiLB games so not much to go on. Wish they would have at least started AAA 2 weeks ago. Let one spot in BP be a rotation of pitchers-Stashek, Anderson, Waddell, Smeltzer, Thorpe. Twins tend to be loyal to veteran players, Shoemaker may get more starts for a while.
  7. Rortvedt in lineup today, good call Nash.
  8. Any word how minor league spring training has went the past month? Any surprise standouts?
  9. Lets see some new arms in BP, replace Stashek, Theilbar. Lets see what Anderson, Waddell, or Duran can do. Closer? Rogers and Duffy have struggled some this year also, but Colome just does not have it-would like to see Alcala in the mix with Rogers and Duffy maybe give Robles a shot also.
  10. Twins are in a terrible streak. They hit a flare down the foul line, foul by 6 inches, opponent's flare fair by 6 inches. Twins pitcher doesn't get the call on a pitch just off the plate, opponent gets the call. My concern with the FO the past couple of years has been they seem to be trying to get one more good year out of an aging pitcher-Bailey, Hill, Shoe, Happ, Romo, etc. Has worked out some of the time, lets start seeing Waddell, Anderson, Duran. Chalmers, and others.
  11. Would like to see some different arms in BP, Stashek good candidate to go down. How about Duran, could use him as opener 3-4 innings or piggyback with Shoe or Happ.
  12. I am ready for some new arms in BP and maybe a starter,
  13. I have to admit, I was ready to give up on WA. But, off to a good start hitting and has looked good defensively. Hope it continues.
  14. How about moving Sano to 3B, calling up Kirilloff to play everyday 1B?
  15. Thanks Steve, I am looking forward to some young talent getting opportunities this season.
  16. Thanks Seth, enjoyed article. How long can Gordon keep a 40 man roster spot? I would say Riddle and Lin are ahead of him. I know prospect depth is poor at SS but just don't see Gordon as a potential contributor at MLB level.
  17. I agree Twins FO have positioned the Twins well financially for the next few years. Hopefully prospects continue to develop and make an impact at ML level soon. Will be money available to fill in weak areas. Starting pitching is always a need.
  18. Nice article Matt, I really like the direction the Twins pitching is headed. Who they will have on the roster and maybe more excited about prospects coming up. Good to see a constructive change by Twins FO to address annual pitching woes.
  19. I look for a lot of movement between St. Paul and Twins. Nice to be on opening day roster, but no guarantee will stay there or be there more time than someone else over the season. Like Cody's picks for opening day roster.
  20. Romo not effective, Clippard hurt already this year. May and Wisler will be missed but can't keep everyone when have self imposed salary cap. BPs are always in state of flux, would not be surprised if had 4 different pitchers in BP of the 8 that are on opening day roster by end of year.
  21. Agree with Dman, Sammons forgotten man. I believe he was available in rule 5 draft so other clubs must have forgotten him also. Surprised he is not in Twins major league spring training, thought he was a candidate to make his MLB debut this year.
  22. I agree with concern about BP, but FO has done a good job of supplying options. Twins have 8-9 that will be on 26 man roster, also 4-5 in minors with some MLB experience as well as prospects. Not all of them have to come through and perform well, hopefully enough of them do. Look for BP to be a work in progress with a lot of shuffling between St. Paul and Twins.
  23. Excited for Twins pitching this year, not only pitchers who will pitch early in year, but also for prospects coming up later in year and next year. Twins look like they are in good position with starting pitching for the next few years. When is last time anyone could say that.
  24. Maybe piggyback Happ/Dobnak, LHP/RHP. Each pitch 4 innings, give bullpen a break that day.
  25. Really like Twins starting pitching this year, Maeda has earned opening day starter. Berrios looking good, hopefully returning to allstar form. Pineda looks solid as usual. Happ little behind, but pitching today I think. Shoemaker has looked great, as has Thorpe and Dobnak. Haven't seen much of prospects so far in spring training.
