  1. We, Twins fans, are anxious to see some of the prospects get a shot. Cave, Wade, Adrianza are OK as back ups to give someone a day off, but now with injuries would have liked to see what Rooker, Blankenhorn, Kiriloff could have done. Great to see Jeffers get an opportunity, doing good defensively, hitting will progress.
  2. Great to see Sano step up his performance, can't wait to see the numbers he puts up if has healthy spring training and is healthy all year. He seemed to have bad luck early with strike calls as well, may leads the team in questionable strike calls against them. His swing mechanics are much improved, no longer has hitch in swing that made him late. He just needed time to catch up, similar to last year.
  3. Maybe partner Smeltzer with Alcala, each throwing 3-4 innings. After Smeltzer, Alcala will look like he's throwing 100+ to the batters.
  4. Hope Berrios found his rythym, Jeffers looked good behind plate-hitting a bonus. Solid defense and bats starting to come around, In first place with all pitching injuries and now Berrios and possibly Odo hittimg their stride with Pineda coming back soon.
  5. Like closer by committee, situational based, Rocco used Rogers in 8th the other night with couple LH hitters coming up. Put Duffy in the mix, I am not as confident on Romo as some of the other posters.
  6. Looks like HIll/Thorpe combo tonight. What I thought interesting last night was Rogers has pitched 8 innings coming into last night. Meada pitched 8 last night. Relievers have become one inning, every other day pitchers. What happened to multiple inning relievers. Teams are benefitting from expanded rosters this year but will need to make adjustments next year.
  7. Every team has a #1 starter, but not every team has an Ace. I would say the Twins don't have an Ace.
  8. I think Rowson was an under estimated part of last year's success. With that said, Sano will come around. It will just take time.
  9. Rooker for the reasons rdehring states. Not a Wade or Astudillo fan, good to have as back up to the back up but would be in trouble if either had to play significant time. Cave is who he is- a 4th OF on a good team, maybe a starter on a average to bad team.
  10. Nice article, I really like Dobnak. He can really pitch and is a great underdog to root for. Should be a solid pitcher for the Twins.
  11. Great series win, many contributions by many players. Hitting still spotty, but if pitching holds up, watch out when bats heat up.
  12. Hope Berrios has his good stuff tonight, Indians look tough this year.
  13. Twins bullpen stacked. Really like May, hope Twins able to keep him next year.
  14. Maeda looked great today, really excited about him.
  15. Love how Twins are willing to look out of the box to improve, not just relying on traditional methods.
  16. With Hill and Bailey probably being one year players and Odorizzi only signed for one year, should be room for young pitchers next year, Good pool to pick from-Smeltzer, Thorpe, Dobnak, Duran, Chalmers, and Alcala. FO has done great job of picking up young talent and developing players.
  17. Really like Wes Johnson, has been great addition to coaching staff.
  18. With shortened season, each game takes on more importance. Will be less time to let a guy work through some issues. With expanded roster, can see more pitchers used but if don't perform will give someone else opportunity.
  19. Great time to make some changes on a "temporary basis", if successful keep permanent. I like the DH rule, or go without DH, but make it consistent league wide. Realignment, reduction of games, extra inning changes, roster expansion, electronic ump, replay (I want reduced) all on the table.
  20. Great blog, need my sports fix for the day. Totally agree with your assessment, much less risk, to MLB sooner. It has worked for Cleveland.
  21. I like Buxton batting 9th, he seems comfortable there. If gets on base, puts speed on in front of Twins best hitters. He contributes most on defense, why put extra pressure on him batting. When healthy Buxton is an elite center fielder, to say let's see if a prospect is as good seems a little optimistic.
  22. I would not be surprised if Buxton not ready opening day, teams tend to be ultraconservative when bringing back players. It is a long season, would rather miss a couple of weeks early to come back full strength.
  23. Chacin has not impressed, Dobnak looks good. Should not be that difficult decision. Chacin just looks like he does not have it anymore. Dobnak on the rise, give him a shot, Pineda coming back mid-May then will have to decide on Bailey or Dobnak. Thorpe, Smeltzer, and Duran waiting for their opportunity as well Hill hopefully mid season.
