  1. Agree with Jeffers over Avila, think Jeffers can hit 174 against RH pitching. Jeffers is the future along with Garver, give Jeffers the experience. BAs are dismal this year for some of the Twins players, don't have an explanation for drop off. Next year hoping for influx of young talent.
  2. Really like Polanco, Donaldson 1-2 in lineup, they tend to see a lot of pitches and make the pitcher work the first inning. Buxton looking great, if he can hit like this and stay healthy, a real difference maker for Twins.
  3. The inconsistency of pitch calling last night seemed to be an issue, would like to see called strike/ball chart when Twins pitching to compare.
  4. Hope to see more of TB, looked a little nervous last night. Too bad season ended up so short, I'm sure more of the prospects would have gotten opportunities with longer season. TB hasn't played at 1B but would think he could handle that, Wade has played a couple of games there. Maybe be potential, 2B, 3B, 1B, corner OF utility guy, may be time to move on from EA and MG next year.
  5. Great series sweep, now the big series is next. Chicago looks good, hitters up/down the lineup. I like Marwin, but don't know if he would be in my plans for Twins next year.
  6. Rooker looked MLB ready hitting, hard to judge defensively with such limited chances. Hopefully can fully recover from injury by next season.
  7. Signing Cruz was huge. His offensive contribution is obvious, I think his influence on his teammates is equally important.
  8. Not a fan of throwing a player under the bus during the season. Why bring this up now, will be plenty of time to discuss in off-season.
  9. Can you call Buxton's hit a walk off? Buxton is a difference maker, able to contribute what no one else on team can, speed.
  10. Like the call-up. See what Rooker can do at MLB level. Might be drop off defensively to Wade but hopefully upgrade hitting. Low risk call-up, he is an older prospect, played AAA last year. Hope he gets plenty of playing time last few weeks of season.
  11. Rooker makes sense, he is on 40 man roster and RH bat. Older prospect, time to see what he can do if Kepler out.
  12. 5 IP, 2 runs given up, 6 Ks. Solid performance for Pineda tonight.
  13. I think there are a few factors this year, number one the ball not traveling as far. 2- Twins batters just not seeing ball very well this year, too many swings at balls in the dirt or well outside. With the limited experience I have had playing, would think player needs confidence in ability to make solid contact with ball first before power comes. Just not catching up after limited preseason. The triple off Maeda was a good example, a few weeks ago batters were swinging and missing at that pitch, the Detroit batter recognized the pitch and was able to make solid contact.
  14. Pitchers only pitched 20 innings last 5 days, should be rested.
  15. We, Twins fans, are anxious to see some of the prospects get a shot. Cave, Wade, Adrianza are OK as back ups to give someone a day off, but now with injuries would have liked to see what Rooker, Blankenhorn, Kiriloff could have done. Great to see Jeffers get an opportunity, doing good defensively, hitting will progress.
  16. Great to see Sano step up his performance, can't wait to see the numbers he puts up if has healthy spring training and is healthy all year. He seemed to have bad luck early with strike calls as well, may leads the team in questionable strike calls against them. His swing mechanics are much improved, no longer has hitch in swing that made him late. He just needed time to catch up, similar to last year.
  17. Maybe partner Smeltzer with Alcala, each throwing 3-4 innings. After Smeltzer, Alcala will look like he's throwing 100+ to the batters.
  18. Hope Berrios found his rythym, Jeffers looked good behind plate-hitting a bonus. Solid defense and bats starting to come around, In first place with all pitching injuries and now Berrios and possibly Odo hittimg their stride with Pineda coming back soon.
  19. Like closer by committee, situational based, Rocco used Rogers in 8th the other night with couple LH hitters coming up. Put Duffy in the mix, I am not as confident on Romo as some of the other posters.
  20. Looks like HIll/Thorpe combo tonight. What I thought interesting last night was Rogers has pitched 8 innings coming into last night. Meada pitched 8 last night. Relievers have become one inning, every other day pitchers. What happened to multiple inning relievers. Teams are benefitting from expanded rosters this year but will need to make adjustments next year.
  21. Every team has a #1 starter, but not every team has an Ace. I would say the Twins don't have an Ace.
  22. I think Rowson was an under estimated part of last year's success. With that said, Sano will come around. It will just take time.
  23. Rooker for the reasons rdehring states. Not a Wade or Astudillo fan, good to have as back up to the back up but would be in trouble if either had to play significant time. Cave is who he is- a 4th OF on a good team, maybe a starter on a average to bad team.
