  1. I will say Rogers gets most opportunities followed by Colome, but closer by committee.
  2. Rumors have it that Kirilloff crushed it at alternate site last summer, not alot to gain by having him at alternate site for first month of season. Time to let him play at MLB level, forget about service time issue. Backup is more the issue for me, Cave seems a lock but redundant LH bat, Rooker possible but sounds like Twins might be leaning toward 14 pitchers on 26 man roster. Cave going to him around .225-.250 with underrated defense, Rooker should hit in same range for average with more power but drop off defensively and only corner OF. Idealy have both of roster but if only one I would go with Rooker. Predict Twins go with Cave.
  3. For me it comes down to who do you want to have the most ABs during the game. There is 2 outs in 9th and 9th place batter gets on, who do you want to hit. The first batter in lineup may only lead off an inning once a game. With that said, I still take Arraez, going to see plenty of pitches leading off game and most likely to get on in other situations.
  4. Hope AK is starting in LF opening day. He has the potential to be a great hitter, time to see what he has at the MLB level. Forget the service time issue, sign him to extension next off-season if has good year this year.
  5. My point about Kirilloff was he has already spent a summer at alternate site, not going to benefit from another month. Also, as I mentioned it is not a given, he has to play well in spring training. If he struggles then not on opening roster.
  6. Starting AAA later takes away argument that AK needs AAA ABs before callup. Think that will lead to AK being on opening day roster if performs well in ST. 13/14 pitchers, I think Twins had 14 pitchers most of year last year, so I think will have 14 this year, ST performance will determine who it is. Opening day roster last year had 15 pitchers when had 30 man roster.
  7. Think Twins have a lot of potential BP depth and FO has done good job of acquiring that potential depth. I know teams are moving to closer by committee, But I still prefer one dominant closer, problem is they are rare-so teams moving to committee approach. Time will tell how potential develops.
  8. What I would like to see- Duran maybe starting in BP but by end of year solidly one of the SPs, Balazovic-maybe given a start or two later in year. Ober and Chalmers given a shot- so far all on 40 man so easy callups. Jax due for a spot start or 2, to fill in when someone on IL, would like to see Hackimer get an opportunity in BP. Barnes is in ST, maybe given a chance. Would like to see Bray finally get an appearance in MLB. Cano had good winter league, maybe longshot for BP. Canterino and Winder at ST, maybe have a shot this year to make an appearance. Also, think Sands has a chance to be called up, surprised he is not at ST. Forgot about Colina-solid BP contributor by end of year.
  9. I agree with Fatbat, bullpen is deep. There are 3-4 minor league FAs, plus few on 40 man, and 3 pickups that cleared waivers recently. Don't need all of them to click, but hopefully 3-4 do. See last spot or two in BP as rotating between Twins and St. Paul. League BPs have plenty of pitchers that washed out on other teams then found success on another team.
  10. Must have figured LaRussa into projections for Chicago.
  11. Excited about JB, probably a year away, but hope he sees a few spot starts in second half of year. Could see Duran with a couple spot starts in May/June then called up to stay second half of year, he is further along in development.
  12. Would love to see Canterino get a spot start or two in second half of season if pitching well in MiLB up to then.
  13. Excited to see what Enlow can do this year, passes the eye test. With a year to work on mechanics and fundamentals will be interesting to see how pitchers perform this year.
  14. Celestino spent last summer playing against AAA talent at alternate site . I don't know how he performed, but if he hit well, would that justify moving him up to AA or AAA to start the season. I am high on Celestino,. Sands peaks my interest also, agree he may make his MLB debut this year. Hope Rooker is healthy, anxious to see what he can do at MLB level this year.
  15. More I read the more I like choices made by FO. Really like the thought process and objective measures used to make decisions, not just eye test or gut feelings.
  16. Nice article, really like what FO is doing. Nobody bats 1.000, but they have made some great moves.
  17. Love trade, hope the best for Wade but wasn't going to get many opportunities with Twins. Twins get relief help. Hope it is a win-win for all.
  18. Would love to see another quality SP and affordable RP, can't have too much pitching. Twins should have some pitchers ready to contribute in minors, looking forward to seeing who steps up and breaks through.
  19. I think Twins FO is quietly hoping for universal DH so can get outbid for Cruz and diplomatically not sign him. I like Cruz for a one year contract, but want another SP in the range mentioned above, and another relief pitcher. Can't have too many pitchers, don't know if Twins have pitchers MLB ready in minors.
  20. Was pulling for SImmons to be the addition, upgraded 3 positions with signing-SS, 2B, and UIF. Arraez can handle 3B and 2B, a little worrisome in OF, and DH some hopefully for Cruz against tough RH pitcher, should get plenty of ABs. Going to be fun watching Simmons this year (hopefully I can watch FSN). Pitchers have to be excited about upgrade in defense-hope everyone can stay healthy.
  21. I was all for signing a top RP early on, but now am seeing the benefit of spending that money elsewhere. There will be reliable RPs available at lower salaries, put more money into SP and position players.
  22. Makes me think of 2 things, Twins trying to get one more year out of aging arm or maybe Twins are bullish on their young pitchers, want another year of development.
  23. Hopefully Twins are aspiring to more than just not bad.
  24. Besides Paxton, rest are only provide depth for pitching, would not want any to be #4 starter.
