  1. Thope, Smeltzer are 2 years from arbitration, will likely be somewhere in Twins system next year. Both have looked good at times, but have struggled to go more than 3-4 IP at a time, maybe bullpen candidates.
  2. Why trade away someone you are under paying? Keep them, then you can over pay for a key piece you are missing. Resign Cruz and/or add pitching. Seems pitching is the biggest question mark in Twins system.
  3. I like Wade, seems to be a good teammate, plays hard, plays within himself. But I agree, maybe time to move on to prospects with higher potential. Look for Wade and Cave to be on roster to start season, with eventual replacement by Kirilloff, Rooker, and/or Larnach.
  4. Some of the biggest questions are what the season will look like. Will there be a normal season with spring training, minor league baseball, attendance at games? With all the uncertainty, can see Twins tightening the budget. Twins appear to have plenty of young players on cusp of breaking into MLB, maybe they go cheap and give them a shot.
  5. Adrainza would be cheap, even if you sign him will not be out much if someone moves past him for playing time, With that said, I am all for a youth movement, Time to give Gordon, Blankenhorn, Jeffers, Kirilloff, and Rooker opportunities to see what they can do at MLB level, Lewis and Larnach may be mid to late season callups.
  6. Think attendance will be upgraded to limited maybe 10,000 per game. Cruz is a big question mark for me, maybe bring back only if price is right. Hitting is waiting in St. Paul, give some young player a chance. Pitching is always in flux, especially relievers, will need to add a couple but again there are some young pitchers that should get their opportunity. I know RB likes veteran players but some of present Twins will need to take on that role instead of adding someone.
  7. Great list, hard to argue about order. Thanks Cooper.
  8. Twins were here last year, had checkbook in hand to pay for top pitching and no one wanted to come to Minnesota. It will not be as easy as just paying top dollar for a top pitcher. Maeda worked out great this year, someone like him, that is a little under appreciated. Position players, I am in for a overhaul, but maybe not to the extent your asking for, a youth movement with prospects. I am not in for Cruz, major drop off last month, is that a sign of things to come, definitely not 2 year contract.
  9. Would be nice to win tonight and tomorrow, making Sunday's game less significant. Twins can't look past the Reds, they have been playing well lately.
  10. Love what the FO has done, plenty of significant decisions coming this offseason. Some older players that their performance has fallen off somewhat. Would like to see an infusion of young players next year.
  11. Having pitched in playoffs before definitely will help. Hope Meada continues to impress, Twins pitching staff in much better shape going into playoffs this year compared to last year.
  12. Agree with Jeffers over Avila, think Jeffers can hit 174 against RH pitching. Jeffers is the future along with Garver, give Jeffers the experience. BAs are dismal this year for some of the Twins players, don't have an explanation for drop off. Next year hoping for influx of young talent.
  13. Really like Polanco, Donaldson 1-2 in lineup, they tend to see a lot of pitches and make the pitcher work the first inning. Buxton looking great, if he can hit like this and stay healthy, a real difference maker for Twins.
  14. The inconsistency of pitch calling last night seemed to be an issue, would like to see called strike/ball chart when Twins pitching to compare.
  15. Hope to see more of TB, looked a little nervous last night. Too bad season ended up so short, I'm sure more of the prospects would have gotten opportunities with longer season. TB hasn't played at 1B but would think he could handle that, Wade has played a couple of games there. Maybe be potential, 2B, 3B, 1B, corner OF utility guy, may be time to move on from EA and MG next year.
  16. Great series sweep, now the big series is next. Chicago looks good, hitters up/down the lineup. I like Marwin, but don't know if he would be in my plans for Twins next year.
  17. Rooker looked MLB ready hitting, hard to judge defensively with such limited chances. Hopefully can fully recover from injury by next season.
  18. Signing Cruz was huge. His offensive contribution is obvious, I think his influence on his teammates is equally important.
  19. Not a fan of throwing a player under the bus during the season. Why bring this up now, will be plenty of time to discuss in off-season.
  20. Can you call Buxton's hit a walk off? Buxton is a difference maker, able to contribute what no one else on team can, speed.
  21. Like the call-up. See what Rooker can do at MLB level. Might be drop off defensively to Wade but hopefully upgrade hitting. Low risk call-up, he is an older prospect, played AAA last year. Hope he gets plenty of playing time last few weeks of season.
  22. Rooker makes sense, he is on 40 man roster and RH bat. Older prospect, time to see what he can do if Kepler out.
  23. 5 IP, 2 runs given up, 6 Ks. Solid performance for Pineda tonight.
  24. I think there are a few factors this year, number one the ball not traveling as far. 2- Twins batters just not seeing ball very well this year, too many swings at balls in the dirt or well outside. With the limited experience I have had playing, would think player needs confidence in ability to make solid contact with ball first before power comes. Just not catching up after limited preseason. The triple off Maeda was a good example, a few weeks ago batters were swinging and missing at that pitch, the Detroit batter recognized the pitch and was able to make solid contact.
  25. Pitchers only pitched 20 innings last 5 days, should be rested.
