  1. Maybe there is a plan D. Waiting for roster cuts to pick someone up?
  2. The only surprise is maybe this is a week earlier than expected.
  3. I would love to see Rodriguez break camp with the Twins, but not likely with Twins philosophy. Twins will want to gain one more year of control. Can see an outfield of some combination of Rodriguez, Buxton, Rodon, and Martin by midseason with Gonzolez and Jenkins waiting for opportunity in St. Paul?
  4. I look for Twins to pick up a couple more castoffs during spring training. I think MacLeod is a sleeper for bullpen, not to start year, but later in year.
  5. I have no issues with Twins signing Urshela to be the backup, backup's, backup at 3B.
  6. 1B is harder than people give it credit for. Easier for infielder to move to 1B, already can field in infield. Then, there is also catching rising fastballs, sliders, changeups and throws in the dirt from infielders. Mendez has a lot of work to do to be a MLB firstbaseman.
  7. Festa also seems to have some durability issues, can his arm handle a starting pitcher's 150+ innings a year. Maybe he begins the year at AAA to get accustomed to relief role, but I agree, Festa could be the Twins best relief pitcher this year.
  8. Good luck to Julien and Ohl. Maybe a change of scenery will benefit Julien. Tough place to be traded to for Ohl. Yes, this is inconsequential to the Twins overall, both were most likely be non factors this year. But good to get little more clarity on roster.
  9. I have no problem with Twins trading Buxton. Twins are rebuilding, Buxton will not be part of next competitive window. Sell high on Buxton now. It is not so much a money issue at this point, but Twins acquiring potential pieces for next competitive window.
  10. Twins shop for FAs at TJMaxx, won't find any potential Twins FAs on top 50 list.
  11. Hawkins is a good hire. I like Maki as well but maybe change is needed. Maki should not have any difficulty getting a job.
  12. Can Correa be the best but also the most disappointing at the same time? He was definitely the highest paid.
  13. I think payroll will be around 100M. Twins will not sign any significant FAs. For one thing, FAs would have to want to come to Twins, why would Alonso want to come to Twins. Lopez and Buxton are the only players with contracts for next year, could see both gone. Their salaries stick out like a sore thumb on list of contracts for next year.
  14. Maybe, Rocco wanted out, did not like direction team headed. Twins will not be very good next year.
  15. How about trades, Lopez and Buxton are the only Twins players with contracts for next year. Could see FO trading both and maybe Ryan and Ober or anyone else with some trade value- Jeffers. Looks like it could be a complete rebuild. Will Twins be worse than White Sox next year?
  16. Looks like a good base to build next year's bullpen with.
  17. I doubt Ohl and Adams are worried they are going to miss out on millions when they get to arbitration or FA. Like to idea of couple BP pitchers pitching every 4 days, 40 games a year, 2-3 IP a game 80-120 IP a year. How many innings does a normal BP pitcher get a year= 60-70?
  18. I like Ohl, never going to be a Cy Young candidate or probably not an AllStar. But, he has good control, a good pitch mix, and has improved his pitch sequencing. He has shown he deserves a shot.
  19. I am in the sell camp. I tend to be overly optimist about prospects so want to see what they can do at MLB level. Twins need to see what they have, are the players at AAA just AAAA players that are never going to have an impact at MLB level. Definitely have a need at catcher with Vasquez a FA at end of year. Can Cardenas or Winkel, maybe Camargo handle MLB? Let's see how Martin, Keaschall, Em. Rod. do they are already on 40 man. Sabato has seemed to put it together finally. I do think Twins will be hesitant to put anyone on 40 man that they don't have to protect this winter, like Eeles. Twins can keep Eeles in system another year without putting him on 40 man this year so will be able to add another player in offseason.
  20. What strikes me is the lack of top prospects on the list. Ohl to me has some similarities to Jax.
  21. I am not for a sell off, but retooling would be good. Would like to see trades but only if getting good potential return. If Twins can pull off a few Cruz for Ryan type trades all for it. Trading someone who can help a playoff team now for someone to help Twins in future.
  22. Love Royce, but he needs a reset. Difficult to watch at times. Let him fully recover and get his confidence in his legs back.
  23. My point was after first couple rounds of draft, Twins have little to show for their draft picks of position players. Most of your listed players are early round picks in draft. Rodriguez is only one of 2 international draft players at AAA, none at MLB level, and only 2 at AA. There has been poor results from international draft also.
  24. It seems best to separate pitching from position players. Twins FO has undeniably had success drafting, acquiring, and developing pitchers. Twins are arguably the deepest in pitching as they have been for a long time. Position players are a different story. It seems after the first couple of rounds of the draft, Twins have had very little success and poor results on the international side both pitching and hitting. What traits for hitting are the best predictor of future success at the MLB level?
