  1. Royce is not 100% physically this year. Tough to judge, but will he ever be 100%. I like him at 3rd.
  2. Twins are not a player or two away from winning World Series. Sellers market this year, price was too high for players that may have helped Twins. Twins have a good farm system, ranked #3 by Bleacher Report. Twins can't buy their way to playoffs, WS, have to develop their own talent. With that said, likely could have at least got solid LH reliever without mortgaging the future.
  3. Looks to be 4 position spots opening on 26 man next year. Farmer and Margot are no doubters to be gone, Santana- may be pushing Twins luck to sign him for 39 year old season, and Kepler will be free agent, will be too expensive for Twins and have cheaper options. Most likely Julien gets one of those spots if not traded. Lewis if healthy gets one, Kirilloff?, Martin?
  4. Great exposure for Festa, hopefully takes information learned and makes necessary adjustments in AAA. Next chance, Festa will be more prepared, has MLB stuff but needs refinement.
  5. Not great results in past. Does not hurt to take flier on someone if price not too high. Just can't see Twins spending the money or prospects to acquire a true difference maker.
  6. AA has some nice starting pitching at the moment- Morris, Matthews, Lewis, Nowlin, Adams, and Jones. Agree can't have too much pitching, not all these will be successful MLB pitchers.
  7. I agree, any player in the Twins price range, probably not a clear upgrade over present players.
  8. Love the headline, sure to elicit more comments about "pipeline" than 4 pitchers mentioned.
  9. SWR has been pleasant surprise this year. I for one was did not have lofty expectations for him. Great job by SWR and Twins staff on making changes and progressing to level he is at.
  10. Twins have a good AAA roster. Julien, Wallner, Kirilloff, Severino, Camargo all on 40 man so easier to promote. Helman and Kiersay have done well, may get a shot. Lee has most potential but needs time at AAA. Holland has done surprisingly well, Prato has taken a step back this year, Kemp looks like AAA depth and experience. Williams and Isola are long shots, Winkel may still develop as catcher but not ready at this time.
  11. If Vasquez traded and Camargo called up, who is 3rd catcher-Williams, Isola, Winkel. None of them have shown they are MLB ready.
  12. You have to trade something of value to get something of value. I would be in favor of a Gray like trade. Going to have to part with a potential good MLB player to get a top to mid rotation type pitcher.
  13. Agree with Linus, good results at lower levels don't guarantee results at MLB level. But, better than pitcher struggling at A, AA. There is some hope. Shows how hard it is to make it to MLB level and be successful.
  14. Good to see Severino heating up, had terrible start to year. Matthews to AAA this year? Probably won't be until later in year, but if keeps his performance up will be hard to keep at AA.
  15. Each week/month that goes by, Twins owe veterans less and less if released. I would not think anything will happen until after the All-Star break, but after that could see some movement. I don't see anyone coming up from AAA until later in season unless there is an injury. I expect a month+ for Julien at AAA.
  16. Don't see Twins going all in with this team, not a player or 2 from winning WS. Agree with above posters, not much to get out of Colorado.
  17. Looks like Boushley making a case to surpass Varland in starting pitching pecking order. I would have Festa, Boushley, then Varland.
  18. Yes, Paddack would go to IL, but remain on 40 man roster so if Festa called up someone else would need to be taken off 40 man roster.
  19. Yes, looks like Paddock needs a rest and Festa has earned an opportunity. There is 40 man roster issue, someone would have to go to 60 day IL or be DFA'd/released.
  20. I agree with stringerbell, Twins don't have a track record of eating contracts, don't like paying players to not play. Gallo latest example last year. Also agree with other posters, FO errored in bringing Farmer back for another year. Although, I have to admit I was not opposed to it at the time. The other issue is if you let Farmer go and call up a young developing player, will there be enough playing time to continue their development. Farmer seems to be a good player to have around and has accepted his diminished role. Twins are overpaying for that role, but will be paying if he is on team or not.
  21. I would not say a 10-14 day rehab at AAA is rotting away at a lower level.
  22. Will be interesting to see how Twins handle ERod and others, There has been some movement, 2 pitchers from A+ to AA. Seems promotions start around Memorial Day hitting a peak at All-Star break, then a few last month of season. I look for Twins to be patient with ERod but if continues present pace, would hope he gets promoted at least at All-Star break.
  23. I am on board the Kiersay bandwagon. No question Kiersay would be an improvement defensively over any OF besides Buxton and maybe Kepler in RF. Time to see what Kiersay can do at MLB level. A reset for Kirilloff at AAA makes sense. Still will need to open a spot on 40 man roster, Of position players, Severino is a DFA candidate, terrible start to season.
  24. Trade Paddack/Pagan for Rooker/Rogers looking good for Twins at this time. Decision was also based on roster management, only so many spots on 40 man roster. Rooker's wrist fx seemed to really set him back, took 2-3 years to get back to pre-injury level, Twins could not hold roster spot that long.
  25. I agree with most of what has been said so far. Martin not a lost cause, needs to work on OF play, not surprising given inexperience. And if going to be low power hitter needs to get BA and OBP up. Hopefully Martin has learned what he needs to work on and gets to work on it at AAA.
