  1. Like idea of realignment, but probably wait until expansion-2 more teams. Two 16 team leagues with 2 divisions each, top 2 from each make playoffs. Can't divide into leagues/divisions until expansion cities determined but geographically grouped. Universal DH needs to happen, understand traditionist argument but crazy to have World Series played with different rules depending on home team.
  2. Would be good for Gordon to get consistent playing time and at bats. Probably was not going to happen at MLB level this year. Agree time running out for Austudillo and Cave, roster spots may be used better on somone else.
  3. Been tough to judge hitters this year. So many have finally gotten hot in July, having last year off, it has taken a couple of months to get hitting again.
  4. The lesson is that there is only a few elite level players. When you have one try to keep them, if you can't, you need to be better than potential league average to below average players in return. The team trading now for Berrios wants to win now, so should be willing to give up potential star player that may be a couple years away from MLB.
  5. Varland yet to give up run after 3 starts at A+. Pulling for Louie, hope he keeps it up. Watched last night's game on MiLB TV, he needs to work on control and his secondary pitches., relies on fastball too much. He can overpower batters in A ball with fastball but as he moves up will need additional pitches.
  6. Is it just a coincidence or did the Saints batting greatly improve when Miranda joined team. It seems like everyone has started to hit better.
  7. Good luck to Charlie, I am not that high on his potential but he has earned an opportunity.
  8. Liked Twins draft, pitching and college players. Also like 20 round draft, will there be undrafted free agent pickups like in NFL. Would think would be better for player after 20 rounds to be able to choose team that has need where they play.
  9. Sorry, my response came off a little blunt. As Seth has stated multiple times, very hard to become MLB player. Equally hard to predict how an 17-18 yr. old will develop. Long list of players pick in top 10 of draft over the years that never made it to MLB. FOs and scouting departments need to do a better job of identifying traits of later round picks that ended up making impact in MLB and using those traits to determine draftable players.
  10. So your saying might as well punt the rest of the draft if can't even draft a player that will make an impact at 36.
  11. If Twins excited, I am excited. I know little about draft prospects. Would expect new CBA will limit control of players, may push teams to limit HS players drafted. This year first round was basically 50/50 college/HS players.
  12. Now that baseball Allstar break, do we see some more promotions in Twins system? There appears to be 2-3 relief pitchers at each level that could potentially be promoted. Would like to see more prospects at AAA level. Understand FO wanting more experienced players to start season since were expecting contending MLB team but rest of year would be good time to evaluate prospects at higher level.
  13. Twins are 3rd in HRs in MLB this year, where has that gotten them. Draft pitching, pitching, and more pitching, the best way Twins to have a true ace pitcher is by drafting one.
  14. Someone touched on this earlier, the key to Berrios is if he wants to stay a Twin. If not, Twins will never be able to sign him and they need to get as much for him as possible before he just walks away in free agency.
  15. Great article Seth, a lot of great information. Will be interesting to see how players react to near full season after most of MiLB players did not play any games last year. Looks like some have hit slump after good starts to the season, hopefully they get on track again and have strong second halves of season.
  16. I am in the rebuild camp- trade all end of year FAs for what Twins can get. Would not mind moving Donaldson, Kepler, Sano as well. If can get enough in return, trade Berrios and Buxton. See what young players can do at MLB level. Would prefer more pitcher heavy draft this year, can't have too much pitching.
  17. MiLB season 40% complete, couple of weeks to midpoint, look for some moves next few weeks. The longer it goes, I am thinking Winder will be like Celestino and just have a day at AAA then to Twins. On side note, Twins lead MLB with 14 FA signings from development league, a lot of injuries in the system for the Twins.
  18. Rosario is hitting around .250, 5 HRs. It was time to move on from Eddie, I acknowledge he was part of the chemistry of the team but it was either pay him 8 million or use that money to try and get pitching. Granted the pitching the Twins got have pretty much been a bust but I agree what the FO was trying to do.
  19. Good write up Ted, I agree. The lost season for most of the MiLBers has really slowed their development. Some of the hitters seem to be coming around the past few weeks. So many injuries, another lost season for some of the players.
  20. Twins have not been a top of the rotation FA destination whether Twins not willing to spend the money or FAs not wanting to go to Minnesota can be debated. So how do Twins acquire top pitching? They traded for Maeda, who was not considered a top of the rotation pitcher when Twins got him. Twins seem to have an excess of position players with prospects soon to be ready for MLB. The most important way to acquire top pitching is to develop it. Twins have maybe more top pitching prospects in minors than ever before. Only time will tell if prospects develop in the meantime trade for some breakout candidates.
  21. Great to see bats heating up across Twins system. With no games last year, has taken some players time to regain their timing.
  22. Most disappointing for me, sure will rank near bottom of Twins teams. Twins FO seems worried about releasing underperforming pitchers due to the money still guaranteed them. To me that money is spent already, either you pay Colome to pitch an inning or 2 a week in low leverage situations the rest of the year or you pay him to stay home. There is probably more upside for Twins with him staying home. At least you give other pitchers an opportunity at MLB level and see what you have for next year. Shoemaker should be an easy decision, maybe when Pineda comes off IL.
  23. Let's says Twins start unloading players that will be FAs next year. In return they get great prospects but they are still at lower levels of MiLB. If a position player like Cruz or Simmons gets traded, who on AAA roster would you be excited about getting a spot on 40 man roster? I don't really see anyone. My point is Twins should move up some of the players that are having success at AA.
  24. Good to see bats improving as season progresses. For players that played no games last year, taking some time to get going. I think Miranda was able to play some winter ball so may have worked through some of that before season started. Looking forward to some movement of players the next couple of weeks. I think half way point for MiLB will be July 11.
