  1. When healthy the first 11 are pretty set- Jeffers, Sanchez at C, Sano, Polanco, Correa, Ursela in IF, Kirilloff, Buxton, Kepler in OF, Arraez at DH, Gordon at Utility. Some of these can move around some like Kirilloff at 1B, Arraez at 3B or 2B so there is some flexibility. If Twins go with 14 pitchers, I go with Garlick for RH bat in OF for 12th position player, although he has not been very productive yet. 3rd catcher is only a phone call away if needed. I really like Urshela addition, great defensively and getting on base. To me he is fulltime 3B with Arraez at 3B occassionally to give day off.
  2. Twins have won 5 in a row, so seems to not be hurting them too much. It's good to keep everyone involved and fresh.
  3. Don't see Twins promoting anyone until at least June, not their philosophy and not most teams philosophy. No guarantee when get promotion has success at least initially- look at Witt for Royals, mashed AAA last year- struggling at MLB this year. As fan would love to see Lewis, Martin, and Miranda with Twins this year but realistically Martin unlikely-not on 40 man, Lewis really needs consistent playing time and success- may be best for his development to spend most of the year at AAA, Miranda most likely- an injury or two away from callup.
  4. Has made a big impact this year at MiLB level, has to happen at MLB level.
  5. I agree with Sano, he has to lead the league in borderline strike calls. Bring on the robo umpire, at least there would be consistency.
  6. I like Bremer, he is a homer but so am I. Enjoyed his book as well.
  7. If Twins looking for 2 inning RP, why not Smeltzer. Pitch him every 3-4 days, left handed and good change of pace from power pitchers. Watched Henriquez pitch, looks good, may be another piece for bulllpen when he is ready.
  8. To me, FO does not value relief pitching enough. Sure you can pick up some cast offs and piece together some of the bullpen but in today's game need 3-4 solid setup/closer types. Twins have Pagan-who has looked good, Duran-very inexperienced, Duffy- may never get back to 2020 form, Theilbar- a good story, but hasn't looked good this year.
  9. What is the bar for Sano? 40 HRs, .240 BA, K rate 33% (MLB ave. was 24% last year). Is a 2 run HR, 2 Ks, and a walk a good game?
  10. Canterino did not look very good last night. Poor control and when he threw a strike seemed very hittable.
  11. Last night, why DH Urshela and play Arraez at 3B. Urshela far superior at 3B. I agree with Arraez at DH with a few starts in field a week.
  12. Like that Duran got to pitch 9th in a non-closing, low leverage opportunity. He has the ability to be the best closer on the Twins staff this year. Duran may not be able to go back to back games. And due to only pitching 15 innings the past 2 years, maybe 60-70 IP out of the bullpen this year would be a good goal for him. Would like to see Duran and Alcala get opportunity to get majority of save opportunities this year.
  13. Thanks for award. Enjoy TD, I am daily visitor. Twins had put Cave on the tee for me and had to take a full cut. Snarky comments do seem to be the most popular.
  14. I remember being excited for Happ and Shoe after their first starts last year. I am reserving judgement on Bundy.
  15. 4 IP by Bundy, then Winder for 3. Looking forward more to seeing Winder pitch than Bundy.
  16. I think they should start experimenting with ABS in MLB. Not make it part of the game but instant feedback to umpire as to whether they called it correctly. A learning tool, over time umpires would learn appropriate strike zone and zone would become more uniform between umpires. Now they get some feedback after the game, not timely enough feedback.
  17. "Stealing a strike" is great, getting a strike call when it is out of the zone. But a poor catcher may lose some strikes that are in the zone because of how they caught the ball.
  18. Great to see Twins pushing most of 2021 draft class up to at least low A. Most of these guys are already 22. Miller was playing HS ball at this time last year.
  19. Watched game on MiLB TV, not much hitting either team. Banuelos absolutely crushed his HR. Weather was main factor as will be with a lot of games the first few weeks. Terry is a big man at 1B.
  20. AAA for Twins has a lot of "depth" players, backup to the backup's backup. Would rather see more prospects, but looking at AA Wichita roster, don't see any players I would argue that should be at AAA. Wichita has a few players that if have good first few months may get moved up to AAA but don't see any that should be there now.
  21. I think Twins will be patient with Archer, limiting him to 3-4 IP per start for first 3-4 starts. Maybe piggy backing Winder on Archer's starts. I agree the plan may be for prospects to work their way onto roster as season progresses. There will be injuries, should be plenty of opportunities for the prospects.
  22. Great to see Twins aggressive placing Povich and Encarncion-Strand, look for Severino and Morales to move up by mid-season. If Hajjar not on CR roster, must be on Ft Myers at low A, probably moving at mid-season also.
  23. Good for Coulombe, I am not a big fan but has been decent for Twins, not alot of upside. Rooker/Garlick, for me rather see Garlick, but can see Twins keeping Rooker as well. Feel Twins hoping Larnach and Celestino ready in a couple months to move up to MLB. Eventually need to find room for Miranda also, these things tend to work themselves out.
  24. Most of the offseason Donaldson trade scenarios involved the Twins sending cash to whoever traded for Donaldson. Instead of cash, Twins took Sanchez and his salary. Sanchez probably deserves an opportunity, but Jeffers and probably Goday are far superior defensive catchers. I don't see the need for Sanchez to catch for the Twins- 3rd emergency catcher. Can he hit enough even to be DH, I would think Arraez would be a far superior choice against RH pitching. Can't see Twins DFAing Sanchez since they owe him his salary for the year, but maybe at some point in season if performance poor, may consider it.
