  1. Plus I’m now following her on TikTok! ?
  2. What a great story, Sherry! Thank you so much. ❤️❤️
  3. Tough game to have to cover, Sherry. But I want to compliment you on what may be your best-composed story on TD yet! Keep ‘‘em coming! ?
  4. Great win! BTW, the “battery mates” sentence confused this older lady. Aren’t the pitcher and catcher meant by that phrase? The OP seems to think it means “teammates” or lineup or hitters…
  5. Oh my, when was this recorded? Phil Hughes? Fernando Rodney??
  6. Nice write up, Nick! I think a lot of us fans expect (hope ) that the team shifts Urshela to first base, perhaps in a righty-lefty platoon with Arraez, and calls up Lewis to play third most days, filling in for Correa as needed. Gio moves back to third when Royce spells Carlos at shortstop; Luis plays first in that scenario, and could DH when Urshela plays first. Gotta keep that pure hitter in the lineup somehow!
  7. That Win Probability Added chart is amazing! The green line shows KC just about dead certain to win … and then just dead.
  8. I was there today, and watching the conclusion of last night’s suspended game as Houston pounded us silly was especially painful. Putting the two games together, it seemed like the Twins were patching together lineups with duct tape and spit. Our defense stayed pretty strong - Lewis made a great run to catch a foul pop fly in front of the left field tarp, and both Gordon and Celestino looked quite decent. Contreras looked tentative in left field and had a couple of late breaks on fly balls. On offense we didn’t perform well in the clutch. Some here call this timidity, or lacking urgency, or bad luck. In the box the hitters seemed intent but unable to string together consecutive hits. Luis Garcia’s extreme herky-jerky windup was annoying to watch and apparently confused a lot of batters (apparently the home plate umpire, too). Arraez was exactly who we have come to expect: working long counts, getting his hits, looking a bit lost in the field, but catching a tricky pop foul, still figuring out his footwork around first base. Karmarsuk’s (sp?) polish sausage was the high point of those 6 or was it 7 hours! ??⚾️
  9. I’ll be there with a friend to see Winder on Thursday. Looks to be hot!! (Temperature wise, too … ) ??
  10. Good game once the offense opened up the scoring! Bullpen in shutdown mode. Any news about why Kepler was removed?
  11. So much useful info, detail, and commentary, Seth! Thank you! I also appreciate having season stats along with that one week’s performance by the top prospects.
  12. Good article! But this part confused me. Is there a typo? Seems contradictory, or else I simply don't understand the point. "Correa, perhaps knowing the bad conditions, has tried to adjust accordingly by avoiding pulling the ball. He’s currently going oppo under 9% of the time, well below the league average and notably different from past Aprils where it has ranged from 25% to almost 41%." He's "avoiding pulling the ball" but is "currently going oppo under 9% of the time ..."??
  13. Thanks for all this, Lucas! I agree about keeping Lewis in St Paul playing SS every day and getting more game experience.
  14. Statistics for defense are so tricky, especially errors (as OP notes). The eye test suggests a lot of pluses, other than whoever they put in left field.
  15. Another characteristically thoughtful post, Doc! I appreciate your considered opinions and observations.
  16. I simply love this story, Sherry! So much fantastic content! Little Harley is amazing. When I was 4 my hometown team won the World Series: Milwaukee Braves over the hated Yankees, four games to three, 1957. That same summer my grandpa took me to see his beloved Cubs at Wrigley field, not many weeks later he died of a heart attack. Growing up, my dad, mom, sister and I would listen to the Braves on the radio while relaxing on our screen porch. After the Brewers came to town, the Twins would visit County Stadium in Milwaukee frequently. I remember being awed by the home runs that Harmon Killebrew always seemed to hit there. It’s a pleasure to see more and more women working in baseball in various capacities as well as writing for outlets like the Athletic, MLB.com, the Star Tribune (Megan), the Pioneer Press (Betsy) — and of course you and Melissa B. and the fun commentators here at TD!
  17. Very nice article, Sherry! Go Women of Baseball!! Had to miss all but the first inning, but the result means I’m now enjoying watching the recording I luckily remembered to set up. Byron Buxton is just … everything!
  18. Yep, all over baseball. Observers like Gleeman here and at the Athletic speculate about reasons: dead ball? Humidor now used at every park? Weather? Shortened spring training? Fans of most teams are feeling the same pain.
  19. Love this update, Melissa! The photos make me jealous. But - I’ve got tickets to see the Twins vs, Tigers April 28th!
  20. Fenway Park scored a few runs today, too, for both teams!
  21. Good game! But frustrating that yet another season the 3rd base coach is sending runners home to their doom much too often. ?
  22. “A day at the ballpark is better than any other day” — Melissa, such great scene-setting with actual meaningful quotes from our fellow Twins fans! As Squirrel said, too, you made me feel like I was there. Can’t wait to read your next story for Twins Daily. ?
