  1. Cruz will be able to get more with the DH now in the National league. It will probably take a 2 year deal in the 32 to 34 million range. There could be a COVID adjustment down due to loss of revenues. But based off of pre COVID. I think it would take that much at minimum.
  2. The Twins had 1 bad stretch where they lost 6 in a row. Before that 20 -10 and 9- 2 since.
  3. The Twins lost 6 in a row. Before that they were 20 -10 and since 7-2. I think the worst is behind us and hopefully we get our Catching back soon.
  4. Really the book has closed on Houston's side there was only 1 + season of control left on Presley. The 30 million 3 year extention was not part of the trade.
  5. Lets see how he does against the Dodgers in the World Series. If he can shut out his old team, I will agree that you are right..... Though I do think the extra pitch is a big deal in terms of improvements.
  6. Also is there video if Polanco's 56mph exit velo single. Would like to see it for context.
  7. So we are 7 and 2 after one of our toughest stretches in our schedule. I feel good about our chances.
  8. After this series our schedule gets easy for a while.
  9. Avila will prove to be a solid bench asset too.
  10. All the offense from Detroit's game today came from a HR by CJ Cron, and a 2 run HR by Goodrum. Both are former Twins.
  11. I am offended baseball is letting politics get into the game. I do not watch baseball for the politics. I watch it when I want to get away from reality for a bit.
  12. I did an analysis on Hunter a few years back and came to the conclusion he needed more counting stats. If he played for 2 more seasons with 700-800 ABs he could have hit 25- 30 more HRs, getting to 200 SBs for the full rounded number would have helped make stats look better, he would have made it to 2600 hits. And the stat which would have made his case electible was 1525 career RBIs. I think I counted only 3 players with more not in the Hall Of Fame that were not steroid related. He also needed to be over 900 XBHs for his career, the closer to 1000 the better. At that point he was borderline case but I think he would be in for being good at so many things including making the voter's (media's) job easier.
  13. Tony Fiore had a good season as a reliever. I think he won 10 games.
  14. Anyone remember Allan Anderson he had a 2 year run including a 17 win season and an ERA title.
  15. What was the total WAR of all three players? Since Minnesota's obligation is 10 million less. It would make sense to compare the value of both Kepler and Polanco vs the value of Moncada. The Twins clearly won this competition. Also Moncada has the advantage of already signing a 31 million contract back in the day if I remember correctly. He could afford to wait for the numbers he wanted. He will have 100 million by age 30...
  16. I don't expect him to be ready by opening day. Mid April maybe. He will need some time to get his timing down. On the plus side he will miss our coldest time of the year.
  17. Getting league average offense out of a backup IF is a nice luxury. Gordon and Blankenship are heir apparent. If either shows enough to come up, White can go. Otherwise a 2 year 8 million contract give or take is in his future. I can see May in the 3 year 18-21 million range. I think he is the pitcher we should sign the most. If Odorizzi regresses at all we seem to have lots of pitchers coming up real soon. I can see Odorizzi going somewhere else next year. The fact he likes it in Minnesota makes me think an extension is possible. But his current salary is up there and we are already at our payroll limits. I doubt payroll goes up any next year without a World Series run.
  18. If all things are equal it should be Chacin, but if he is beat out by some time, Dobnak at this point, then he should start. Right now I see Dobnak as the 5th starter. Smeltzer seems a great fit for a long reliever who can spot start and go 4 innings or 1....
  19. How about trading Chacin to the starter needy Yanks for Luis Gil? Seems like a win win trade
  20. I thought Hill was in the minors in 2015 and came up for 6 starts at the end of the season...
  21. I agree with this article 100%
  22. This trio will at best pitch 550 innings. They will be good but they don't have to be great to win. An above average rotation plus the best bullpen equals a top pitching staff. That will be good enough with our offensive offense.
  23. I would be happy with 25 HRs in 450 ABs this season. He is in his prime years so I can still see him being an .850 OPS guy. I'm happy with a .780 OPS from C position, which I am confident Garver can hit that.
