  1. Here is some fun with numbers. Pagan has 2 appearances this season where he pitched 2 innings and gave up 9 hits, 2 walks and 9 earned runs. vs his other 17 appearances where he pitched 19 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits and 6 walks and 2 earned runs. Outside of those 2 appearances he is pitching better than Jhoan Duran overall, I would call his season a success because he has been so good for all but 2 games. This is what makes relievers so volatile. a few games can make their season look so much worse than it is.
  2. For 2 million Solano is the ideal choice. The idea with him is he can hit lefties and like Garlick could probably pass through waivers and go to AAA for a while on his 2 million contract. Voit is the only one of those three I think the Twins would have considered. I think even more than those three the OF they almost pursued who went on to hit .150 and get DFA was the signing I’m glad didn’t happen I think it was AJ Pollak if I remember correctly.
  3. So Enlow may be a front office pitching development. That will improve their record in this department considerably. Ober, Varland, Enlow and Balazovich…..
  4. Tyler Wells was in AA and looked about ready for an opportunity at the time of his injury. He was forgotten by many on this site I think he was viewed as a back of the rotation starter with a chance to be a number 3 starter. I think he would have benefited from the Twins push on added velocity as he throws 94. We had many prospects back then and he was easily lost in the numbers. Losing Badoo was a big surprise no one saw coming. He was the type of player you leave unprotected. I think Detroit was so bad and had no farm system that they figured they could protect him for the season on their bench and stash him in the minors the following season.
  5. If Lewis can turn in a solid 5/6 seasons with the Twins and Ober keeps pitching as a solid 3/4 starter and Enlow can atleast become a solid reliever if not 5th starter then the draft would be a huge success. The jury is still out but we know who is likely to provide the value. I hope Contreras and Bechtold get chances with us as a back up. Or a fill in for injuries so they can get some chances. If they play in the minors with us for years I hope they can atleast come up for a few at bats. This is one thing I really liked about past Twins teams was giving some players chances who were on the team in the minors a long time.
  6. I think if the Twins want to keep Buxton fresh they rotate players including Buxton in CF. For now it would be Taylor, Buxton, and Castro. We can add Gallo and Kepler in there as they come back from injuries. But I would imagine Buxton could play CF once or twice a week.
  7. If only we had that ace level starter……
  8. The Twins could have kept him on the major league roster to begin the season. He was good enough to be on the roster. And I am not bashing the Decision either as this is for the 13th man on the pitching staff. I’m just jointing out something that could be more upsetting vs a trade that works out for both parties.
  9. right now i would be more upset at losing Coulombe over to them for nothing. We need good relievers and had him in spring training and just let him go. He has a 3.07 ERA at this time.
  10. I’m going to be pro Oagan in today. Overall he has actuality been good. He has 2 bad appearances. He gave up 6 runs in 1 inning in a game earlier in the season and he gave up several (4? I didn’t see the box score) against the Dodgers one of the best teams. That leaves 1 run in 14 other appearances. I would limit his exposure to close games especially against good teams but he his better than half our bullpen at the moment. Sure a new punching bag would be nice after this but let’s keep this one around for now just keep him out of key game moments.
  11. If the Twins get what they were trading for, I’m fine with Baltimore getting more long term value from the trade. That’s how these trades work. While we got passable results from Lopez last year, He has been great so far this year. And if he has a sub 2.00 ERA through next season the I think he would be almost exactly what the front office wanted when they traded for him. If Cade wins 50-60 games in Baltimore and Cano has 5 great seasons then good for Baltimore and hopefully the front office makes more even trades in the future. If I remember Cano was added as we needed a roster spot.
  12. Who is #18 Jose Rodriguez? I haven’t heard of him before.
  13. I think the point of this article is we have a pretty good rotation and it was made through trades mostly. So looking at what we got vs what we gave up. We got: Mahle Gray Ryan / Strottman Lopez Paddack / Pagan Maeda Pablo Lopez and extension. to get this we gave up: Encarnacion-Strand, Steer, and Hajjar Petty Nelson Cruz Cade Povich / Yenner Cano and 2 others 1 year of Rogers, Rooker Brusdar Graterol. Arreaz Looking at these trades as a whole I prefer what we got over what we gave up. Steer is redundant Encarnacion too but his bat seems more potent, several prospects are years away. Nelson Cruz is about done. He is having a nice season so far this year but…and loosing Graterol hurts. With the injuries to Maeda the trade is almost even but it’s still gotta be in our favor. 2020 was a playoff season so the Cy Young type showing counts more IMO even if it is a short season.. Arreaz is off to a great start this season His knees seem to be better than advertised. I guess if we want to look into trades further we could count the Berrios for Martin and Woods-Richardson trade. The pieces that Hurt are Arreaz, Encarnacion-Strand, Graterol to an extent, and maybe Petty and that’s it. I feel like Gray will surpass what Petty will provide. So overall still happy with the trades.
  14. Killeroff and maybe Lewis are supposed to be this years savior. Lee is next years savior. We can't call on all our saviors in one year. We won't have any for next year if we do that.
  15. I think it comes down to if the Twins think they can fix Miranda at the major league level. I think the decision of who goes down is for what’s best for Miranda long term. There is no reason to cut Solano If Castro has options. Either way, I suspect if Miranda is demoted, expect him back in a few weeks.
  16. So how many strike outs did these guys actually get? I don’t have enough data to figure it out
  17. I think it needs to be a fluid situation. Buxton should get some games in CF, Taylor should get fewer AB, Larnarch should get some DH time, Gallo should move between 1B, LF, DH, and a few games in RF and CF are probably ok but not necessary if Buxton played enough out there. Larnarch may also lose a few AB in this scenario. Solano will also lose playing time as well.
  18. For some reason I cant comment on Cody Pirkls article on Headrick so I will add it here. He should get a start if the opportunity arises as while 3 appearances and 8 1/3 innings is a small sample size. He has shown he is capable in all 3 outings and seems up to the task of making it through 5-6 innings. It is definitely between him and Varland if Mahle skips a start. Either way he will get more innings out of the pen with the job he has done so far.
  19. Pablo was scheduled to be here next season anyways so we still have 2-3 holes to fill in the rotation next season. Hopefully we sign one of our starters to an extension and go young. Maybe Meada on a 2 year 26 million extension…
  20. Pagan has been lights out so far this year.
  21. Headrick ceiling is to be a left handed Bob Tewksbury.
  22. With 200-250 AB for the season he should be able to finish with and above 100 + OPS. He doesn’t have much power but can hit doubles at a decent rate and with enough walks and a .280-.300 average he gets on base enough to be valuable especially as a bench player. One thing I like is we had a pretty good bench the last 2 seasons.
  23. Not only are we going 162-0 we are not giving up a run all season.
  24. There are pitchers who pitched worse than Bundy and Bundy was signed to be a back of rotation starter. He pitched almost 150 innings and made the most starts on the team. For 4 million + 1 million buyout is fine for what we got. I’m not saying he was great or anything but he was worth what he was signed for hence a success. Wisler was here for a season. The 2020 Covid season. The Twins had him make adjustments and he has been mostly successful since. Even though he is not with the Twins. But for the 2020 season he had a low ERA therefore a success.
  25. Rich Hill was a successful signing and Bundy could be considered as well since he didn’t hurt the team and didn’t get injured for 4 million. 8-8 record with almost 150 innings. pitching development started from scratch and was interrupted by Covid. We have lots of prospects near ready. I think what happens with this group determines their ability to develop pitchers. They have developed several bullpen pitchers Jax, Duran, wiseler became a solid reliever under them, Moran, Winder is close if healthy.
