  1. Way to go Falvine! Ya got 'er dun! I guess I'll need to pick off a crow this spring and serve it up to myself.
  2. BTW, love the photo, Nick. Maybe those 2017 rings should be "taken back".
  3. We probably need to let the investigations play out further for the Red Sox. I agree with your allusion to the light punishment. If Morrison is correct that this has been going on since 2014, then Luhnow should be receiving more than one year. Looking at the staff, the only holdovers from 2014 to 2017 were Luhnow and then a couple of pitching coaches: Brent Strom and Craig Bjornson. Maybe the league can get Bo Porter to shed a little light on this mess. He was kicked to the curb just before the org started towards winning. Maybe there's a little vendetta there. Porter was fired on Monday, September 1, 2014. (less to do with the team's 59-79 record than the need for "new direction" and a "united message throughout the entire organization.) I'm injecting, but perhaps Porter wasn't a fan of the "message" and wasn't willing to comply. It seems Hinch wasn't a fan either, but he was willing to comply with the "united message".
  4. Same on Berrios. I was actually a bit surprised that his arb ask was as low as it was. I thought his camp would ask for over 5 mill. I know it's a game with the arb numbers, but two All-Stars and rock durability would seem to give him a little more push. Hopefully, the club can give him something that doubles his would-be year one arb figure in exchange for a market level option at the end of the deal.
  5. Solid contract extension for the big man. I look forward to four more seasons of moonshots. With the second hardest exit velocity in baseball, Sano does provide the "impact" hitting.
  6. I could get behind waiting to call the off-season a failure until the off-season is over, but hoping for winning despite inefficiency and poor decision-making is going to be a long term losing gamble. The reference to the Dodger comparison that swept the org differences under the rug makes the argument even weaker.
  7. I doubt all these cases are going to arbritration. It's probably a plumbing issue with the news transfer. Quite the payload today.
  8. For Cruz to get in, I think two of three will need to happen: 1) The PED barrier will need to be broken. Bonds or Clemens or both would need to get in. 2) Cruz will need to get to 500 HRs. (If this is to happen, I hope they come in a Twins uniform.) 3) The Twins win the World Series and Cruz has a dominating performance while winning series MVP.
  9. Topping Harmon's single-season mark isn't out of the question, if he stays healthy. 50HR 100BB 200K? Actually, I could see an interesting race where Sano, Gallo and Judge all compete for the HR crown with a stat line similar to that. They just need to stay healthy.
  10. I don't know. Luis Arraez may be turned into Felix Fermin in HR accumulation.
  11. I think they should call the 2019 ball the "La Stella" ball. Tommy La Stella before 2019: 947 PA 10 HR Tommy La Stella in 2019: 321 PA 16 HR
  12. He'll never steal the bases, so it will never happen. Nevermind the career OBP This is a rose-colored rube-off.
  13. Nice ... You just saved me time reading two articles. Actually, once I saw Duran and Odorizzi, the guessing games were complete for me. It's sad that the guy we drafted ahead of Aaron Nola isn't even in the top 20, and here were are wishing for impact pitching.
  14. Twins GM Interview: JP: "These free agent salaries are getting really high. We aren't comfortable with where the prices are going. How do you intend to present our team as competitive without breaking the bank? Falvey: "Well, one of my strong points is mining contract data and using predictive analysis to determine what types of deals each free agent is going to sign. I could then offer what looks to be a very competitive offer while knowing that one of the big market players will beat us every time. Those few and far-between analytical fans will be pissed, but you're average rube won't notice or will give us credit for at least trying." JP: "You're hired."
  15. When my kids were younger, I used to listen to scores of parents yell "Good swing, buddy" or "Nice cut, [insert name of 13th hitter in order]".
  16. Comparing the Dodgers to the Twins by bringing up the similarities while just completely ignoring the differences is just silly. If the FO signs Berrios to a long term deal that buys out a few years of free agency, I might read this again and actually take it seriously.
  17. Wade Leblanc could be the staff ace, Trevor Hildenberger could be the closer, Blake Swihart could be the #3 hitter and this article would have still been written.
  18. If Ozuna has lost an edge defensively, wouldn't you move him to first and keep Kepler in the outfield?
  19. Luis Arraez should be the Twins leadoff hitter for at least the next five seasons, unless he gets moved to bring in pitching.
  20. Those numbers look eerily similar to the second half numbers of the backup catcher we signed for 2020, albeit for $2 mill less than what Castro got. .185/.306/.359 ---- .654 OPS ---- 4 HR, 7 RBI and 44 K in 92 AB. Gotta save that money! JP probably has his eyes on the new Rolls-Royce Phantom.
  21. Since Castro signed with the Angels, your odds of dating Scarlett Johansson are now infinitely better than him signing with the Twins. Best of luck!!
  22. I wouldn't lose much sleep over Harper being DFA'd to bring in Harris. It was a good story to see a 30 year old rookie finally realize his dream and then be effective for a good part of the season, but Harris is proven even if aging.
  23. That often empty "connected" word is still being used with the Twins and Will Harris. I'm not sure if that is interest is still there or if an offer still exists, especially now that Romo and Clippard are in the fold. If a Harris union occurs, I wonder where he would fit in this pecking order. Is he in the May/Duffey section or the Romo/Clippard section (his age would place him there, if that matters). Talk about bullpen depth! I'd guess Stashak would be ticketed for Rochester in that scenario. The popular take might be to just cut Wisler, but I think that idea is probably only popular outside the walls of the FO.
  24. Perez has the same haircut as Bailey, but Bailey's is slightly better.
