  1. Argumentum ad verecundiam ... Nice try
  2. The draft is a crapshoot. I didn't care for the Cavaco pick. I don't think I was alone. I wanted the Twins to take Matt Allan in that draft. He ended up falling to the third and maybe signed above slot. He's been a health bust so far.
  3. It's exactly what they do when they bunt, quiet their swings or choke up and shorten their swings. It's sacrificing power to gain bat control.
  4. I need to get to more stadiums. Target Field is my #1 (sans late-night LRT nonsense) Otherwise, I've only been to: Wrigley Field Guaranteed Rate Field (back when it was New Comiskey Park) loanDepot Park (actually went to the very first game when it opened as Marlins Park ) Jack Murphy Stadium Kauffman Stadium (This is my #2) Metrodome I'm very impressed by all the TD members that have been to so many stadiums.
  5. Thanks again, Riverbrian, for writing this and sharing it. I've honestly never looked forward to posts on this site more after I got pointed here by Squirrel's status entry. I read the last entry waiting for a Dire Straits cover band to play at the State Fair. So I'll leave you with this ... Most of the time you were the windshield, but in Tijuana you were the bug. Sometimes it all came together, but sometime you were a fool in love with whatever piqued your interest at the time. Most of the time you were the Louisville slugger, but, perhaps for a time in Oakland, you were the ball. It all came together, and you didn't lose it all -- well, except, almost in Tijuana. Good stuff!!
  6. I hope HotD can get some more action and adventure into the next episodes. It's been 90% house politics so far. The jousting was cool. Dragons in the backdrop are nice. A girl talking about how she can wait until 14 to be "bedded" is disgusting (Yes, I know it's its own world with it's own social norms).
  7. This is simply false. Players swing with less than max effort and alter their swings all the time (e.g. taking an outside pitch the other way), effectively placing the ball.
  8. Likely had several bloopers fall in? Or, is just better at placing the ball?
  9. I might be hearing things, but it sounded like after the first curveball to Wade, Jr. that got by Leon, Sandy was picked up saying "Oh, there you go. ****in' Gold Glover." Did anyone else hear that?
  10. Wow, that All-IL lineup says a lot. Twins are currently the coldest team in baseball along with the Angels, and they're one loss away from getting back to .500 in the wrong direction. Please win, Twins.
  11. Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable palpitating, and even gruesome, may make a good tale, and take a deal of telling anyway. - J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit)
  12. Can I get a front page article about Luis Arraez perfectly placing a groundball single between the infielders when the Twins lose 14-2? Unlikely.
  13. There you go trying to get me excited about something that didn't happen. It's just like the announcer who tells me the expected batting average on a caught line drive. There is more to this game than raw power.
  14. Astros-Dodgers 10 Triple-A Twins 0
  15. Yes, but it took a second take.
  16. So we're down 2 in the bottom of the fifth having already used the best bullpen option whilst attempting to not go 0-10 against the Dodgers and Astros.
  17. If Buxton hit.one in the second deck during a 14-2 loss, I might say something like, "Well, he got that one. At least we didn't get shut out", if I was still paying attention. It certainly would not get a fist pump, unless one of my kids caught it. I just see the product taking the game the wrong way for my liking. They even use exit velocity to try to get us more excited about what doesn't happen on a hard hit ball while trying to get us to diminish what does happen on a softly hit ball.
  18. I guess they can if that's how they judge baseball talent. In all likelihood, those fans are likely to tune in and see three Ks, a pop-up and negative defensive value. Cheers for blind squirrels though.
  19. I don't care. That's the point. I just don't get why they think any baseball fan would care about a single in a 14-2 loss by a guy who basically can't hit. It reads like it's something fans should get excited about.
  20. Is a base hit by a player who has basically failed in year one on a horrible team in a 14-2 loss a big deal or great play? No. But, according to MLB Media it's worthy of front page news. Why? Because of the exit velocity. Who cares? The point of the game isn't to see who can hit the ball the hardest. I just don't see how this is a draw for the game. I've taken my three kids to games at target field and let them each choose three players in the lineup. Whoever ends up with the most home runs wins? Hits are the tie-breaker. Runs are the second tie-breaker. I just don't think we would ever change to whoever hits the ball the hardest. This game must be passing me by.
  21. 4K+ miles down, 4K+ miles to go. Thanks so much for sharing this.
  22. Can't wait to find out if you went east or west from Houston.
  23. This should turn into a six game skid real quick. Lackluster bunch led by a robot.
