  1. Yes, please. I would love a shorter season and only playing Yankee trash six times every 3 years.
  2. Throwing two bang snaps at a time without having a wastebasket nearby for the spent debris? I don't know if we should get that wild, girls.
  3. Sounds like a mail-it-in-before-the-break strategy. It will probably be accompanied by scheduled off days for Kepler, Polanco and Cruz.
  4. I can't believe Sideshow Tebow (489 OPS) still has followers. He even gets highlighted on a Twins site, even though there are probably easily 200 other opponent players that would be more worthy. Otherwise, it's great to see Bailey Ober go 4 innings and come back throwing strikes (28 pitches, 27 strikes) .... It's frustrating watching him come and go with all the injuries. I hope the stars align and he can at least have a few seasons of health and a chance to make a real impact.
  5. I wouldn't call Mejia's performance strong. He was completely bailed out by an on the screws throw from Gonzalez. He's not part of the solution. Unless the Twins are going to trade for two starters and about three relief arms, I think they should limit the trade acquisitions to players that will also at least be on the 2020 team.
  6. Berrios going 7.1 innings the day after an 18 inning game even when he wasn't pitching his A game may end up being an incredibly important losing performance. At least Cleveland got rammed by a team that couldn't even win 1 out of 6 against the Twins. Are we really worried about a team that is only 1 game above .500 against Baltimore?
  7. Need a barrage at Chicago this weekend to keep a healthy number over 300 at the half-way mark
  8. I agree that the strategy was reasonable, but not with the player that was tasked with executing it. Tom's critique of Baldelli not using the strengths of his players correctly is justified. Other's have added some information in the comments that seem to back the critique as well. Schoop looked completely lost and out of place trying to execute the bunt. The good thing is that Arraez and Cruz picked him (and Polanco) up, the bullpen held, and the number in the W column is one higher than it was at 7:09 PM CST on 6/26.
  9. The World Champs are 7-3 vs. the worst team in baseball, and some of those games could have gone either way as well. Yes, the Royals are pesky and probably do some fundamental things a bit better than the Twins, but their formula paired with their current talent level isn't a recipe for success and the record shows.
  10. Anyone have the stats on all the hits that Gibby gave up in the 7th? Do Buxton/Kepler make outs on any of those? Astudillo's foul catch was good, if not a little goofy, but he is in over his head out there.
  11. Mondesi is nursing a groin injury, so his havoc-wreaking ways may be limited (if even available) .... Add in the Dozier injury and not having to face Keller .... The Twins need to take advantage of these unfortunate events for the Royals and come in guns-a-blazin'!!
  12. Definitely want to see more from Poppen ... He was overthrowing and definitely didn't have the Smeltzer ability to stay cool in his debut, but 95-97 with late movement will play at this level, if harnessed. Not a big fan of Arraez at SS .... Polanco got his day off, so I hope he can just play all the games at the 6 until Adrianza or Gonzalez return. Sano needs a day off. Give Arraez a turn at 3rd tonight @ KC and see how he looks there. Baldelli definitely favored rest over results in this rubber match. It's a long season, and you can't argue with the results so far, but now the double-digit lead is gone. This team needs to go down to KC and come back with 3-4 wins, because it will be right back to a series with a contender when they return.
  13. Also 12 Ks to 1 BB .... I still want some moves to shore it up, but there are some promising options .... Duffey and Littell definitely need longer looks
  14. Cora's a punk ... Even if you don't agree with a call, you don't attempt to assault the umpires after the game .... He should be suspended .... Apology is a cop out ... Learn the rules .... I can guarantee Baldelli would never behave that way
  15. St. Louis isn't going to move this guy for anything reasonable... Even if they fall out of the race, which isn't guaranteed at all, they aren't a rebuild candidate. I could see them moving Miller or Wacha, but Gant is going to be part of their longer term competitiveness.
  16. I didn't like the Polanco bunt, mostly because I though Brewer was the pitcher to attack and he doesn't have the best control. However, given the game situation, it's still a justifiable play. It was well executed. Rosario got himself out against Brewer. I would almost bet that the mound visit involved something along the lines of "Don't give this guy anything to hit" .... I can't blame Eddie for trying to get the big hit because that's what he does and he has, but patience in that PA could have loaded the bases for Cron against a bad control pitcher with a lot of pressure on him. The Parker results were as expected. That 0-2 pitch to Boegarts was just dumb. Berrios is a rock. He has got to be a contract priority soon. Don't let him get away like Johan. I just don't understand the Cruz bashing. He's been a godsend to this lineup. It's a round ball and a round bat ... You will get the bad spin. I'd take Cruz in that PA 10 of the next 10 times.
  17. And only Yankees get front page MLB articles when they homer in rehab games: https://www.mlb.com/news/giancarlo-stanton-homers-in-consecutive-rehab-games F$%#$%rs
  18. To each his own on this one .... MLB should be sure to educate the players, because there can obviously be consequences. We're all going to die. I wouldn't choose salivary gland cancer as my way out, but that's just me. I don't like people telling me what to do, so I wouldn't support legislation. However, if a team or league wants to ban smokeless tobacco, I think it's within reason for them to do that. Nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head saying you have to play for this team or league.
  19. Part of the reason the Twins are doing so well is the cohesiveness as a team. The last thing they need is some short fuse like Stroman.
  20. Please keep Stromanitis/Stromakemia out of the Twins clubhouse
