  1. This will test how deep we felt this team was this morning. Someone will step up. Right?
  2. There were zero surprises actually. Only injuries allowed Varland, Funderburk, Sands and Duarte to make the team.
  3. 84 wins for the Twins and will win the division. Detroit 1 GB.
  4. Knoblauch is a great comp. I had forgotten Chuck. I'm guessing more power from Lee. There would be nothing wrong with Lee becoming a 45 WAR player imo.
  5. We talk about Baez like he has zero chance of a bounceback, ever. Yet Correa is going to comeback to All Star status in our model. If Correa can bounce back, so can Baez. Baez has talent, he's not one of the worst hitters in the league.
  6. The jury is still out on whether Lee will stick at SS as well. I agree that Gary was more of a power hitter than Lee will become, but the game is more of a power game now than it was then. One would think that Lee will hit for higher average too. But who knows? I would be quite happy with a 42 WAR career from Lee. Whether at 3B, SS or 2B.
  7. Gary Gaetti would be mine. Drafted #11 by the Twins in 1979 also out of college. Gary played most all of his games at 3B but he was also capable of filling in at SS. That would be a high bar for Brooks. Brooks maybe a better pure hitter than Gary was. Time will tell but I'd take this as a repeat any day.
  8. Very disappointed in this FO. 1/25.They got us DeSclafani. Congrats Falvey.
  9. Some of the hitters have looked great. Pitching overall has struggled however.
  10. My only real question on the Tribe is, how did Austin Hedges turn his 2023 season into $4,000,000? I can naturally breathe as well.
  11. I concur, they finish with more than 75 wins. 79 or 80, with some luck maybe more. Good chance their pitching is good. Winning the AL Central in 2024 is no gimmee, and the Twins chose to fall back closer to the pack instead of widening the gap.
  12. Call me less than optimistic, but I will be very surprised if Duran is back anytime much before June 01. Obliques are nasty, and you don't want him injuring something else coming back too soon.
  13. That is a great group overall. Some disappointments. Some fulfillments of hopes already. 2018. 2019 I thought Colina was going to be very good. And then he wasn't....
  14. My prediction is still for the Twins to win. 84 for the Twins. 83 for Det. 79 for Cle. Then Royals in mid 70's. With the Sad Sux in misery losing 100. But Twins are no shoe in.
  15. The Royals haven't made up 30 games with their improvements. But they will be a lot better in 2024. That being said I look at them as somewhere in that 73-77 wins or so. I'll agree with Dave above, will possibly embarrass the Twins in a series or two. The Twins will not have a cakewalk to the AL Central crown. If these pitching injuries continue we may not even win this division.
  16. Carly Simon also sang about Jesse. These could also be the words of Falvey to Jesse as well. Jesse, I won't cut fresh flowers for you, no Jesse, I won't make the wine cold for you, no Jesse, I won't change the sheets for you I won't put on cologne I won't sit by the phone for you.
  17. Drew Pomeranz is now available for the taking. Signing him would change your thinking I suspect. On another note, Monty is going to end up somewhere soon. For some reason I have not given up hope that he signs with us. He's the guy I've wanted from the start. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, but maybe allow just a little.
  18. Now that Jesse is gone I want him back. I miss him already.
  19. This is either the work of Randball Stu, or it is a lead in to his next great article.
  20. Once again another "low risk" move. The greater risk has been taken by this organization this off season as we head into the regular season. The greater risk being not taking any risks. This signing actually makes me feel less enthused about this club. Sorry.
  21. Fangraphs predictions suck. The Rangers win more than 82. The A's lose a lot more than 89.
  22. The league has opened up an investigation. As for gambling,it's reached some terrible levels in society. Our own state having promoted it for years and continuing to do so is disgusting at best. I watch people over and over buying many dollars worth of tickets at the convenience stores. Who are most of these people as a general rule? The less well to do of society is who. Those who can ill afford to lose the $50-$100 they will lose. Our own government is preying on its people. That's my opinion anyway.
  23. The Mariners made this trade believing they made a good trade. They do not feel as though they were fleeced. This is how I break it down: The Twins got Topa and cash for taking DeSclafani. I'm honestly convinced of that. The M's had no use for DeSclafani. The rest of the trade is Polanco for Gonzalez and Bowen. We will not know for a few years at least if this trade works out. But at the very least the FO was not honest. We were told that Polanco would not be traded for prospects but he was imo. And the SP that we were told was the highest priority ended up being Topa an RP.
