  1. This deal clears one more player out of the pathway for E Rod eventually coming up soon, since he's already on the 40 man. If he lights up Wichita, which I suspect he will, an August callup isn't so far fetched.
  2. I would say this assessment is spot on. If we don't see Rodriguez up until 2026 sometime then my estimation is that we have next to nothing in this player. He's just a player and not a special one. 2024 is a huge year for him.
  3. If E Rod can show what we think he can its not inconceivable that he could be called up in September. With Kepler likely moving on after 2024 it is a good chance that E Rod is starting in the Twins OF on opening day 2025. Just my opinion.
  4. Gonzalez is certainly a wild card. I don't think even one of us has any idea what we have. I'm surprised he got on the Top 20 list at all. Onto E Rod.
  5. I would guess virtually zero chance he pitches at Target this season. If he does then a lot of things must have went wrong at the ML level. Should be fun and interesting to watch him get stretched out.
  6. I'm just curious how we can claim to have developed Joe Ryan? He came up to the ML with the Twins but did we develop him? Varland, we still don't know whether he'd be an SP or RP at this point either. I'm not sure if at just under 100 IP if he's developed or not. Ober imo is very much a success story at this point.
  7. For Cease; Varland, Funderburk, Gabriel Gonzalez, Competitive Balance Pick I wouldn't give up much more than that.
  8. I like pitching prospects as much as the next guy. But why don't I get overly excited about them? Jordan Balozovic. He was just DFA'd. Good Luck David Festa. Hope you make it.
  9. There was a guy from back in the day that had a similar comp to Lewis, that was Pedro Guerrero. Pedro had the ability and he did it over and over, and that was to carry the Dodgers on his shoulders for 2-3 months at a time. Royce Lewis showed that in 2023.
  10. I think it would have been interesting to see if we could have swung something for Burnes. The price they got from Baltimore was good yet it still didn't deplete the farm. Perhaps Gonzalez, Varland and the competitive balance pick might have been close. I would have thrown in another prospect to get it done. Bauer? I would. But we won't. I am 100% positive on that one.
  11. If we sign MAT, or some other run of the mill CF, then it shows me that they have little regard if any for Martin. Time to let Martin play if he is any good. If he's not then lets stop pretending we have a top prospect. I would guess no TOR to start the season. They are going with what we have. It would have been fun to see someone slide in behind Lopez but it is what it is.
  12. 84 wins for the Twins. Detroit or Cleveland will win 82. The other one will come in with 79. I'd like to see them do something that widens the gap. Not holding my breath. It will be a tight Central.
  13. I would add to your reasons,1. injuries happen every year and 2. He is at the top of the list of subs. He will get his chance this season.
  14. I agree with others, I'd like to see Martin on the 2024 Twins over Nick Gordon. imo Gordon should almost be in the position of a non roster invite at this point. Sorry Nick but you've had your chances, you lost the advantage.
  15. When I said way too high I guess that would be relatively speaking. I think he is outside my top 10 is all. I guess I just see guys like Lewis, Soto and Winokur as more high upside prospects at this point. I do like Martin and think he has a chance to be valuable to the 2024 team. I wish him well and hope he comes through.
  16. I think who is called up could also depend on whether he's being called up to start or if it's to play 2 or 3 times a week. I don't think Martin gets the call unless it will be to play regularly everyday. I could certainly be wrong though.
  17. Just a request here: Other years you list the already reviewed players on the list at the end of the article with links to their review article. Any chance that could be done on the Top 5? Its just nice to look over the whole list each time. Otherwise, imo you guys put Martin way too high. But love this feature. Good work.
  18. I would agree with this. Right now the Twins are swimming in those same waters this off season. WE have used this off season to draw closer to the pack instead of widening the gap. We needed a legit SP to slide in behind Lopez. We get DeSclafani. Burnes was available. He did not cost the entire farm. He did bring a good price but it would have been a bold move for us to meet that price. It would not have taken Jenkins or Lee. We needed a big bat. We got Carlos Santana. Rhys Hoskins was available and he would not have blown up the future of the franchise. I am disappointed in drawing closer to the pack.
  19. Lopez is not the best SP in the Central right now. That distinction belongs to Dylan Cease. Will Lopez put up the best numbers in 2024? That is a good possibility. But yeah, Bibbee, Ragans, Skubal, Lopez and Cease are all going to be really good. Right now if I could choose just one for my team for 2024 I'd go with Cease over Lopez.
  20. You are very correct Woof. No one absolutely no one expected the Twins to fail in 2011. I would venture to say pretty much every Twin fan expected us to win the Central that year. No one expected the 2023 CWS to lose 101 games either. We are taking for granted that we will roll through the Central this season. We are not as good of team that beat Toronto in the PO last season. Other teams in the Central are better. 2024 is no gimmee.
  21. Tbh beast we are seeing the same **** show that we have seen for the past 20-30 years. WE actually do have a competitive team again. It went to the PO's and even won a series and some games. Great. Lets build on it. But nope. We're going to cut payroll. Lets sign Josh Staumont, Jay Jackson and Carlos Santana and trade for DeSclafani and pretend we improved the team. This mirrors Terry Ryan. Good teams in the 2000's and he signs Livan Hernandez and other bottom dwelling FA's. In 2003 JimThome was an FA. He would have come here, instead the Phils paid him the money and he didn't. He was available in trade again after 2005. Does Ryan go out and bolster a good team with that last needed piece to make it great? Nope, he lets CWS acquire him. We're seeing the same thing again now where the team thumps its chest because they are good when a bold move or two would make it great. To this day I believe the lack of the dominant Jim Thome being brought on board was the difference between us being good and winning a WS.
  22. I like Lewis. We have become obsessed with 99-100mph pitches. We would now turn our noses up at Greg Maddux in his prime. Good Luck Cory, keep doing what has got you here.
  23. How about if we do what the Royals and Tigers are doing with their up and coming and established talent? The Royals just handed out an 11/288 deal to Bobby Witt JR. We should be extending Lewis, Julien and Duran. Instead we are signing 36 y/o relievers with virtually no track record. "Be happy Twins fan. You have a team and it is competitive."
  24. Fully agree with not extending Kepler. He's not what I would call a streaky hitter. But he is what I would call an inconsistent performer. Absolutely no to a new deal for Kepler. If it made the team better then yes I would trade Kepler. Unfortunately we are thin in the OF. Very thin, so the trade would have to be very good.
