  1. For those clamoring for Bert, remember he wasn't adding much to the telecasts in his later years. His contributions had gotten to the point where they mainly consisted of regurgitating stats from the media guide. I guess if you just wanted him around for the clown aspect, that's fine, but he's not someone who's going to provide insightful commentary anymore.
  2. It doesn't matter what any of us think. The proof will be on (or off) the field. The Twins are historically reluctant to be fully forthcoming with injuries, so, like Buxton, let's hope for the best.
  3. I want to believe, but I won't until I actually see it. Seems like a good guy, but at some point you have to produce. If he can't play in the field or hit better than .220 as a DH, there's really no spot for him.
  4. I'll take it. Jorge has been on the field for fewer and fewer games over the last couple of years, so this seems like a decent return.
  5. Thus far this has been an incredibly disappointing off-season, and this move does nothing to alter that view.
  6. Houston was the better team, but there's no reason we can't be at that level next postseason. We have a great foundation to build on. In the postseason, I'd concentrate on: Dumping Kepler and replace with guys already in the system Dumping Popkins Dumping Polanco and replacing with Julien at 2nd. Acquire a center fielder who can hit Figure out how to let Buxton go and maybe collect insurance on his contract? The guy is washed IMHO. Get Paddack ready to start again, assuming we lose Sonny Not sure about Kiriloff. He really needs to stay healthy and produce. We need a full-time power guy at 1st who can hit 40 HRs
  7. I just hope Lewis is OK. He was noticeably limping at the end there. If he can't go, this team really needs someone else to step up.
  8. Don't see anything to argue with here, including leaving-off Buxton. Hopefully Lewis can contribute.
  9. Our starting rotation bodes well for the playoffs, but I don't have a whole lot of trust in our bullpen with meaningful games on the line. Can you image the butt-clenching if Pagan comes in with a 2 run lead in the 7th inning of a playoff game? Our offense seems to be a roll of the dice, and you never know what you're going to get. Should be interesting.
  10. When you tank against teams like Detroit and KC and take a series with Philly, I'm inclined to say strength of schedule down the home stretch is meaningless.
  11. I can't believe we're still discussing this guy in August. He should've been DFA'd months ago. Where's the accountability? It's not fair to the team to have him in the lineup.
  12. Imagine looking at this team and saying "we're good".
  13. Let's pump the brakes on the Paganaissance. He's had a stretch of adequacy that may or may not be over, but is this a guy you'd really be comfortable with holding a lead in a playoff game?
  14. Fixed the headline for you: Twins Struggles Against Lefties Tied to Byron Buxton's Ineptitude and Futility
  15. For once I completely agree with a TD article. Wallner will have growing pains, but let's start letting him go through them. At least at the moment, he has a higher potential ceiling than Kepler. I'd make other moves as well, but these would be the top 2 for me.
  16. Don't drink this Kool-Aid, folks. Pagan had no right being on the roster to begin the season, and even less so today. If Rocco continues to put him on the field, it should be only in situations where the game is obviously well out of hand already.
  17. Seems like this front office displays little accountability with its consistently under-performing players- until it's literally years past the time they should've been jettisoned.
  18. With their track record of being fleeced in trades (Joe Ryan is a rare exception), they're better off not pulling the trigger on anything except dumping Pagan and Kepler. At least those moves would be addition via subtraction.
  19. Am extension would be a mistake, but would be very on-brand for this organization. We should continue to develop young pitchers, and then hang onto them instead of trading them for injury-ridden retreads.
  20. "A pleasant surprise" - Sure "Struck gold" - Let's pump the breaks on that and see how the season shakes out
  21. "Devoid of emotion and heart" is as good of a description as any. Nobody looks like they even want to be on the field. Buxton is completely lost and seems like he just wants to get back to his spot on the bench with as little effort as possible. Today was the first game I've watched in a while, and I won't be putting myself through this again unless they can find some kind of spark. Life is too short to devote any mental or emotional energy to this team. If they don't care, why on earth should we?
  22. We could use replacements/upgrades for Pagan and Moran right away. Otherwise, I'd hold off until we have more data on Kiriloff and the rest of the team before pulling the trigger on anything else.
  23. Geez, people. I'm not arguing that the offense (or Celestino's bat) wasn't bad. Just saying that without depth, defense wasn't stellar either.
  24. While I don't disagree the offense was a problem, when you rely on someone like Celestino as a primary backup at multiple positions, you have a defensive problem as well.
