Earlier in the season, Morneau had stated from the minor league stats that the umps strike zone widens out when a team loses all of their challenges.  Haven't heard anything about that since May, but I bet that would still be true for ML umps as well.

I think that is just a manager thing in general.  The whole reason we have Hoffman now is because he imploded and Toronto waited too long to replace him.

As quickly as ABS has slipped easily into the flow of the game……I can’t wait until it is used on every damn pitch! 
We have seen how gawd awful umpires are on calling balls and strikes so lets get every call right!!

Tennis gets it right, baseball can too! Umpires can still call plays at the plate/bases and fair/foul calls etc but it is beyond obvious that they can’t call balls and strikes accurately enough to not determine outcomes of ball games

Speaking of Hoffman.  I could see him taking over the closer job in 2027.  He is still signed though next season.  Morris/Funderburk should slide into the 8th.  Funderburk has looked a lot better in this iteration.
