Austin Martin Doesn’t Fit the Current Twins Roster

I hope there's some "positive regression" in store for Martin, even this season. He can be a great fit as a weak-side platoon with all the LHH OFs we have on the roster.

Martin is the team’s best defensive corner outfielder and it’s not close. He continues to get on base at an above-average clip against LH pitching. His value to the Twins and to any other team would plummet if his last option was used for the remaining two weeks before roster expansion.

He hasn’t improved enough to merit a full-time role, but he’s shown an ability to improve year-over-year both oin facets of offense and defense.

The move of Keaschall to the outfield does make his roster spot more shaky and I could understand moving on from him

So, I happen to like Austin Martin's game for the most part. The times when he forgets he has two strikes and takes a pitch down the middle or does something  confusing on the bases aside, Martin hustles and plays as hard as any other guy. He is a tough out.

Austin is the best corner outfielder and yet he is barely average out there. This is quite a commentary on the fellows the Twins play in the corner outfield positions. It is an area for clear improvement going forward.

Kind of hard to justify the trade of the best pitcher we developed in decade considering the return we got.

Maybe .... I don't know. Not so much that .... more that it seems so outdated to focus on hair, tattoos, jewelry, eye black, style of wearing uniform, etc., but we see it on this site and we sometimes hear Cory and Kris Atteberry wax on about these things. Maybe it has become ok to say stuff that was once objectionable. Whatever ..... would be better if people didn't, but that is just my opinion too.

Old-timey scouts used to use "good face" in their reports on amateurs.  Maybe being old-timey they should be ignored, or maybe they were onto something that was difficult to quantify.
