Biggest issue with rye is it comes back volunteer so easily next year. Many farmers either have to kill it chemically or burn it off. Neither is really preferable.

We doing any tilling here?

Your fingers are either loaded with butter, salt and pepper… Or you’re one of those that bought into the scam of corn holders to stick into the ends of each ear.

100% I'm using corn holders. I'm a priss. I also don't like barbeque ribs because of how dirty they make my hands.

I sickled it down in the spring for the vegetation and plowed it under. Never had that much of a problem and I oversowed...heavily.

No holders - holders are for children and communisits.

I have great technique, keep the mess to a minimum.

I can also eat wings while dirtying only three fingers.  I'm a man of many talents

Not in dryland farming. All no-till. Need to keep every drop of soil moisture possible.

I have noticed more and more farmers employing no-till in the areas surrounding the Cities.

Why do they do this to us?  Thought I could have breakfast and watch this historic game, but noooooo......

Mlb has to stream it on yet another app that some folks don't have.  I hate this.  Paid my $$$ for mlbtv as always, and get shut out, this time by not having netflix?!?  They've got all the $ in the world, including mine, and they need to grub more?  Fortunately Phils radio has a couple of guys who know some adjectives and are describing what I paid to be seeing.  Mlb, bite a fart!

How to Make Cooler Corn
  • Clean the cooler: Wash a clean plastic cooler thoroughly with hot water and soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach that can leave a taste. [1]
  • Prep the corn: Remove the husks and silk from your ears of corn, then rinse them. You can leave them whole or break them in half to fit more. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Add extras (optional): Drop the corn into the cooler. Add salt and a few sticks of butter if you want extra flavor. [1, 2]
  • Pour boiling water: Carefully pour boiling water over the corn until all the ears are fully covered. [1]
  • Let it steam: Close the lid tightly and do not open it for at least 30 to 45 minutes. [1, 2]

It's a more efficient use of nutrients as the residual plant matter builds a better soil base. The trade off is a massive use of chemicals and dependency on Roundup Ready crops

Sick brag, Mr. Giant hands 😆

Another question for the crowd, what’s the preferred method of choice cooking corn on the cob?

I do enjoy elote from time to time on the grill, but boiled corn is nostalgic

Wouldn't that add more starch from the sugars?
