Been stated before - the Yankees can acquire Jeffers but it will be an obvious huge price .... Elmer Rodriguez and more.

I'm firmly on the "Give Jeffers the QO" bandwagon, but I do think the value of the, say, 35th overall pick is a bit overstated. 

We've actually had some pretty good luck drafting in that range (shown below) the last few years, but I feel like a prospect at the bottom of the top 100 has a lot more value than a Compensatory A pick. Having a Comp A pick turn into a Top 100 prospect feels like about an 80th percentile outcome. 

I still say keep him and give him the QO, but I don't think the value of what me might get in trade versus what we might get as a comp pick are as close as people are assuming.

I guess if the Yankees want him, there's nothing anyone can do about it, have to let them have what they want. Just honored that they let the Twins play in the same league with them.

I don’t know prospects well enough, but as a fellow QO preferer, I also wonder if people overestimate how much the Twins will get for him. Supposedly the Yankees are desperate, which in theory means they would overpay, but an added dynamic with catchers is that they don’t play every day. They have 47 games remaining, so they are only trading for maybe 32 games’ worth.

Your list is really helpful. Would Quick, for example, be enough to get him if the shoe were on the other fit?

I actually think that unless the Twins get what is perceived as a huge overpay for Jeffers, the front office just won’t do it. 

So, I’ll be sad if he’s traded, but I’m also prepared to be like “well… for that, I guess I understand”
