Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 If I were the GM (you should be grateful I'm not), I'm trade Royce for Luis Arraez. I'm moving Clemens to first. I'm signing Luis to a 4 year extension, that includes a bonus this year of 10MM to an 80MM deal. Twins are much better on offense this way. It also makes it possible to deal Houston for a great player or three, if you are so inclined. HarmonK03 1
DJL44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 If you want to pay Arraez 4 years and $80M this offseason you would probably be the high bid by $25M. You don’t need to trade Royce Lewis to overpay Arraez. RpR 1

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 But you do realize that if we trade Lewis now, we'll miss out on the opportunity for eleventy-seven "should the Twins non-tender Royce Lewis" articles on TD between now and November, right? 🤣 USAFChief and Mike Sixel 1 1

Potentially even "win-win-win" when one considers the possibility of missing a similar number of "now that we've tendered Lewis, we should trade him" articles from November to March.* *See also: "2025-26 Offseason: Larnach, Trevor." Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 mike sixel 1:00 Royce Lewis for Luis Arraez, who says no? Also, super happy you get to go do a thing you love every year! Jay Jaffe 1:01 Thanks! Right now I'm not sure teams are that keen on Lewis, who's been terrible this year except for June, hasn't hit for a 100 wRC+ since 2024, and still has never played more than 106 games in a season. The Giants would probably say no because they can do better in dealing Arraez. Hawkeye Bean Counter and DJL44 2

ashbury Verified Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I wouldn't trade Tristan Gray for Luis Arraez. I'm a broken record where it comes to Luis, and I don't hate the guy nor do I mean to pick on you. But I've seen his name come up during this trade deadline by other posters too, so I'll try to say it once and then not keep bringing it up. For all his elite batting average skills, the man has scored as many as 88 runs one time in his career, even though he generally plays a full season, and where the league leader generally scores well above 100 runs (Ohtani scored 146 last year). "Oh, but the OTHER batters aren't doing their job! They aren't driving him in! He's on a weak offensive team, what do you expect?" Exactly. He is PART of a weak offense, this year with the Giants, last year with the Padres, before that with Miami. Eventually I have to conclude that he's part of the problem, not part of the solution. If he were on a MLB minimum contract, sure, I could find a place for him I suppose, though I can find a place for a lot of guys with similar run scoring potential, as long as the 26-man roster isn't already full of them. But devoting significant dollars to him, no. I am confident there are better uses for the magnitude of salary being discussed. There, Whew. Got that off my chest. I should be good for the next 48 hours or so. 😄 DJL44, DocBauer, Linus and 4 others 6 1
