Seems like he put his head on his helmet as a habit. Not an intentional challenge

Guy for the Mets I think did the same last week

But with the challenge rules, he needs to change his habits.

Agreed. But in slo mo it looks like he did that as a natural human reaction “you dummy” maneuver. He was walking back to the dugout and wasn’t looking at the ump

If Buxton has to DH,James Outman has to play centerfield just as Victor Caratini has to catch quite a bit because Ryan Jeffers is out. The Twins are using Ryan Kreidler quite often but the options are limited. Both Emmanuel Rodriguez and Walker Jenkins are injured. The only other choice is Ben Ross. Kyler Fedko is a decent player but he will never see time in centerfield at the highest level. It's a tough situation. I wish Buck could play every day, but apparently he cannot post.

I have seen this in multiple games this year, players are going to have to adjust.  The umpires are being pretty consistent if you go near your helmet, they consider that a challenge.

It is a lesson learned and it's all umpire discretion.  You should be intentional about your helmet touches.  All of this ABS is a moving target, and some umpires have been getting excoriated for not granting challenges.  As @karcherd stated, players are going to have to adjust their habits.

Excellent post. Just to add, I think we are starting to see a few umpires get a little cranky. Close pitch .... batter looks unhappy ... umpire tells the batter to challenge if they think they are correct. Of course, two challenges disappear pretty quickly when the batters get but hurt and challenge foolishly.

Easy solution, bring up Culpepper for short and put Kreid1er in center.  Outman has not earned a spot on this roster.

Let’s score, one run might be enough the way Ryan is going.

You rang?
