Love is cleared to play but the Packers are going to play Tune.

https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-news-roundup-latest-league-updates-from-thursday-jan-1

Tune has thrown 27 passes in three years, and three of those were interceptions. He's also been sacked 8 times. I have no idea if they do over/unders for sacks in Vegas but take the over if they do.

This and the teams they've played (who weren't trying?) the last few weeks makes me really question what we really know about this D (though, the Lions were clearly trying.....).

Trying's not the right word. Like a 7th round LT is going to try and not get his QB killed but I get what you're saying. I think Aggie's right about the season being too long. I don't think our defense has faced a fully healthy o-line since maybe the Packers game. And the Vikings depth on the dline is pretty good so they can constantly send good rushers. I think smart teams are going to start prioritizing players like Brandel, who can competently play multiple positions but maybe find ones even better than Brandel, if that makes sense.

The Giants coaches were not trying, imo.

Ok...I'm happy to have this reason to watch.  But if he plays well against a team that mailed it in....how should I feel?

(I know how to feel if he stinks!)

Nobody is TRYING? Players and coaches aren't TRYING?

Coaches are always TRYING to keep their jobs, or at least not suck so bad they can't get another job.

Players don't TRY when the whisle blows due to pride and hope for next season and possible signings next season?

Unless someone is just a malcontent who simply doesn't care about ANYTHING,  coaches and players always TRY, even if a small part of them is depressed. Their FUTURE depends on what they do. I don't buy in to any coach or player that just "gives up". If I was a FO and thought for a moment that a coach or player "gave up" instead of just coaching and playing hard despite a disappointing season, I'd NEVER hire them or sign them.

I generally agree with this but we've all seen games where a WR runs half-hearted routes or such. Or a team just looks like 11 guys thrown together. I think that's generally what they are suggesting. In the Giants game, the interim HC ordered the team to go for it inside the ten on 4th and five instead of taking the FG. I think that was a bit of not caring if they won the game and giving Dart an opportunity inside the 10, for instance. If they needed that win, they would have taken the points. But straight tanking, like actively trying to lose, I don't think that happens much, certainly not team wide. That was one of the things exposed in the Flores allegations against Miami and the only thing that the commissioner came down hard on Miami's owner for was suggesting that the HC lose on purpose and offering him money to do so.

But if I'm Packers' QB Tune, I'm thinking I can show teams I'm more than a practice squad guy. I'm gonna try my darnedest to win. Ditto with any backup getting playing time or any potential free agent. Plus there is pride in a rivalry game.

You think the giants coaches were trying to win that game? If so, they are the worst coaches ever.

You think the Packers are trying to win, by benching Love, and likely others?

Taunting on a run where you don't even pick up the first down is incredibly N9NE

Nothing worse than these guys who haven’t accomplished a thing but love dancing and jumping around making fools of themselves on ordinary plays. But that’s most athletes, can’t even blame the kid. Doesn’t know any better

There are worse places to be stuck than Palm Springs, but you know once you're out of vacation mode and back to reality it's frustrating when plans change.

I was waiting to board an overbooked flight a few years ago, and the rewards being offered were increasingly eye-opening, and even still, no one was biting.

Someone eventually took the cash+extra day vacation, but still. People either need to get there, or want to go home.

Turner looked like he was shot out of a cannon on that sack

He's taken a great development step these last two months.  He's becoming a legit force.
