Jalen Hurts admitted that the Eagles were on their A game and extra motivated for the Vikings due to the prior two losses:

Of course that poor timing of their prior two losses is such a Vikings thing.

Still, the Eagles could have still lost despite the extra motivation, and the fact that they couldn't bring it the prior two games doesn't bode well for their chances of repeating.

If McCarthy doesn't get rid of the ball faster than he did the first two weeks, he's not going to stay healthy for the entirety of the last 11 games.

Yeah, he’s going to have to show a lot more competence than he did in his short sample size. Wentz isn’t good but he showed an ability to move the ball in a way that JJ did not. Admittedly two games is unfair to judge a young guy, but how much better would he have done yesterday under that pressure and beating that wentz faced? I have my doubts.

Not to mention keeping Darnold would've meant most of the other offseason FAs wouldn't have happened.  It's been a mostly underwhelming performance overall from that group, but try to imagine what this o-line would've looked like without Will Fries and with Walter Rouse (or whomever after all the injury juggling) in his place.  I feel pretty confident in saying the Darnold we've seen in Seattle would've been different than the Darnold that would've been playing behind an even more depleted version of this o-line.  There's a decent chance the narrative would've been the Vikings foolishly ignoring what happens to Darnold when the line breaks down in front of him like it did at the end of last season

All of this is exhibit A for why Kwesi needs to be gone--his inability to draft, coupled with the disastrous decision to give up 7 picks in return for Dallas Turner and LDR has robbed this team of sorely needed cheap talent.  That's why the Vikings HAD to go cheap at the most important position, despite having the oldest team in the NFL in 2024, and 5th oldest in 2025 (read--the window is now).  If Kwesi hadn't whiffed on almost every pick he's made, or at least had 5 more cheap players on this team, maybe the QB decision could have been made for a reason other than money.

Inclined to agree here. We do have to know for sure with him though. I just expect nothing, really. The QB position will keep the Vikings out of the playoffs, whether it’s wentz or JJ

No, this can't be accurate.  I've been assured that KOC is the QB whisperer, and an elite offensive mind.  No way that his hand-picked QB is the weak link.

Kwesi’s fate will be tied to McCarthy whether he likes it or not. If McCarthy goes bust in 2 years he’ll be out too.

The previous offseason was full of miscalculations. The big money guys on the DL Allen and Hargrave have been disappointing at best. Kwesi misjudged the situation with Redmond and LDR already looking better than them. Not to mention poor Harrison Phillips traded to the worst team in the NFL as a salary dump.

The biggest miscalculation is at QB. Wentz is not good enough to miss all of training camp and save the season off his couch. Sam Howell they knew from the get go he wasn’t good but kept him through training camp.

Finally, the panic trade for Thielen who has been a complete non factor on the team.

McCarthy listed as “limited” although practice did not happen today, it was an estimate. Can’t imagine you’ll see him start Thursday. And if you don’t see him start the following week either, you can start asking tough questions nobody wants to ask.

I think that's the right timeline.  This 2-4 week injury that somehow became "a 6-week injury all along" somewhere along the way is now coming up on that 6 week mark.  The short week helps makes it plausible to stick with Wentz as part of JJ's recovery process.  But after that?  Yeah, time for some tougher questions

Also, the idea of a hypothetical practice injury report is kinda funny

There's a decent chance Kwesi is gone this offseason, unless the Vikings can figure out how to get to the playoffs.  Since Kwesi took over, the Lions have passed us in organizational quality, and there's a chance the Bears might be doing the same (not saying they are, just saying the Bears might finally be getting organizationally right.  It also sounds like the defensive players Kwesi has brought in the last two years are mostly based on Flores identifying them, so if Kwesi doesn't draft well, and he's not identifying talent to sign in free agency, what exactly is he doing?
