strumdatjag Verified Member Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 I just saw a TV News segment on this team that dances between and during innings and has sing-alongs with the crowd. (There is some religious preaching too). The actual game is secondary. It will spread. At Twins games look for more “dance-offs”, maybe music playing while the players are playing (like the NBA) and a whole host of things to “attract more fans” (of course with massive commercial endorsements too). The Twins can keep Faith Formation Night, even though that was more fun when they had a Pagan (Emilio) on the team.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 Yeah, you can definitely tell what they're doing is hated by everyone and it's a complete lost cause to look at them as potentially having hit on something baseball has lost...... This post is giving up perfect vibes of this classic: shortround81, Danchat, Vanimal46 and 2 others 4 1
strumdatjag Verified Member Posted July 21, 2025 Author Posted July 21, 2025 I’ve had this feeling before (The Minnesota Kicks, Disco in the 70s …). I think - Why should I be so critical when people are having fun? I thought the same about the Independent League St Paul Saints. I like the Harlem Globetrotters once every 25 years. I like Pro Wrestling. So, I’m not a no-fun dude But this baseball as sideshow to the sideshows simply annoys me.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 The Bananas are in town this weekend and tickets at CHS Field were going for $300-400 bucks a piece, they certainly have demand. I like how they keep the audience engaged... but all of the dancing and extra stuff is a bit much. I was watching one game where the ump started twerking... no thanks. Vanimal46 1

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would care. Barnstorming baseball teams ended up having unique rules back in the day. They'd play in farm fields and didn't always have enough players to fill up a lineup. Locals would get to grab their gloves and play not only against but sometimes WITH the touring players sometimes too. Can't remember the last time I heard anyone complain about the Harlem Globetrotters either. gil4, Mike Sixel, Vanimal46 and 3 others 6
gil4 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 My brother went to their game at Clemson (sold out 81,000+ seats.) He said it was a lot of fun. His wife said it was maybe a bit too much to absorb. I like seeing their clips on YouTube. Definitely entertaining, but I wouldn't spend $300-$400 per ticket (or even $100.)
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Savannah Bananas are infiltrating Target Field in August 2026. I will bet multiple months' mortgage that this weekend 8/7-9 will be the only time Target Field is sold out in the entire season. The Great Hambino and Danchat 1 1
