Rookies are very different; they all have different talents & progress offensively differently. Players have to adjust at each level, but the adjustment to MLB is by far the hardest. We need a lot of patience with them. You have rookies who are very adept at hitting like Keaschall, they come up hitting practically right away & then you have rookies like Kody Clemens who came up at 26, who was given a lot of regular ABs over 3 yrs. Who had started out with the same results as Keirsey (who though, had very rare regular ABs), Who has progressed very little in that time. This year, PHI gave up on him & they stopped giving him regular ABs & failed to get a single hit. Magically, after MN claimed him, gave him regular ABs, & 400 ABs, everything clicked.

Keirsey is a better fielder & baserunner than both & he's at the point where he still needs a lot of regular ABs & it takes him 4 ABs in a game to get grooved in. In those times he has come through with key hits. Just when he's ready to hit, they take him out. Twins quit micromanaging & let him hit his 4th AB.

I have to admit that there are players that I don't have as much patience but with Keirsey he has what it takes to contributes to the Twins if given the opportunity.

Kiersey ranks 377th of 379 hitters with 50 PAs.  It's not like he is below average.  He is in the bottom 1%.  This is not a last place (rebuilding) team.  He is a detriment every day he is in the line-up.  I can't wait for Wallner to get back!  Promote Holland if we need a defensive role player later in the year.  He has more speed and the ability to back-up several positions including CF and SS.  Gett Wallner back on tomorrow.  I don't want to see Kiersey in the batter's box.

Contrary to some thought, MLB is the most important part of player development. Many would criticize a pitcher for not going 5 innings & clamor for his removal, Zebby in his 2 outings has averaged 3.5 innings & 3 runs per game, leaving the Twins a hole to crawl out of. Yet in these 2 games, it has been very valuable in Zebby's learning progress & for the Twins in the long run.

Very impressive, the Twins coming back from a 4-0 deficit. Go Twins.

I've stated before, Keirsey should be sent down because he's not getting regular ABs. Now that he's starting more often & rare times he's given 4 ABs in a game he has came through with key hits. But too often when he's finally ready to hit in a game they take him out. I don't care if we aren't a rebuilding team, we are winning with Keirsey in the lineup.

If Keirsey were a veteran who had 50 consecutive regular ABs, I'd be very concerned with the stat you stated but Keirsey is green & has not been given regular ABs so he's exactly where you expect him to be. It's not a slam on Keirsey it's a slam on the Twins.

Keirsey plays CF, plays it better than Castro by a lot, and with Bader coming off a tweak he's there to play defense until Buxton is back. He seems ticketed for AAA since he's performing so poorly at the plate, but at least he has a role. I don't really know why we called up McCusker, since Rocco's uninterested in playing him. Yesterday was the day to play McCusker, with a LHP starting and he couldn't crack the lineup then either. Wacha as a RHP at least you could understand, but if there's no room for McCusker against a LHP than he's little more than insurance on the bench. seems like a waste to me.

Still a very nice win. Right now, if the Twins can just keep winning series they;re going to be in very good shape, and scratching out a win against a division rival like this is very nice work. Shame they couldn't be a little more efficient, because they're really using a lot of pitchers again, but at least that means they're competing and winning games.

The increased bat speed sure seems to be making a difference for Clemens and he's doing a very nice job. Sometimes you can find a guy on the waiver wire. It's a fairly small sample so far, but he's been a lovely surprise and shows no signs of yielding his job.

McCusker is starting today in RF. He isn't getting much of a chance, but I have to think that the Twins ahve already decided that he and Keirsey go back to AAA when Buxton and Wallner come back next week. Keirsey can't hit water if he fell out of a boat but he at least offers above average defense and base running for late inning use. Those two then fight it out for first man back when an OF goes on IL.

I think Clemens has won a job for the rest of the season unless he falls off a cliff. I see him as part of the Correa/ Lewis/ Lee/Clemens group for the 2B/SS/3B spots playing 2B against RH pitching and also getting some DH ABs. I think Bride may stay as well for awhile as the 26th man and really the only backup 1B. I would work Clemens at 1B as much as possible in practice so he can play there on occasion as well.

Keirsey needs to be twice as good as the best center fielder to ever play the game to justify his roster spot...

I believe that Clemens deserves big credit for helping boost the clubhouse vibe/morale!

This is a little off topic but I had to laugh at JM’s comment about how MLB has changed and Roger Clemens maybe plunking him in the ribs next at bat for the way he flipped his bat after the home run. 😁

Kody Clemens is really bringing some attention to himself. Must feel like a dream to a guy on the verge of washing out of MLB. His "average" exit velocity is 96.8mph right now which is basically at career best for Aaron Judge despite Clemens having like 55 grade power instead of 80 grade. Like every ball is being barreled, haha. None of this makes sense, but it is fun to watch.

He’s 6-53 with one XBH ……he has decent speed on the bases and he’s average to better on defense……he can’t bunt to use his speed to his advantage in certain situations.

Other than he’s had some success in St Paul……I don’t see the allure. Guys that are ready and that are going to be effective, show more than he has IMO. He’s not up because he forced his way on to the roster with performance, he’s on roster strictly due to injuries. He’s filled a role but there’s no inflating what he would/could be with more AB’s in my eyes.

FWIW Clemens’ defensive stats at first are good. A snapshot of a game or two (or a play or two) may not be representative of his ability as a defensive first baseman.

Your adoration of one of the worst minnesota twins in this century is just baffling man.

He can get those ABs in AAA or Korea, for all I care.

Saying he's a better fielder & baserunner than Keaschall & Clemens & defending him from prejudice is hardly adoration. As long as Keirsey isn't playing for your NYM, why do you care about anything he does or what any Twins fan think?

Calling him one of the worst players this century is fact, not prejudice. Sorry DaShawn Keirsey Sr.
