I’m shocked that not one of these position player pitchers has ever been smoked by a screaming line drive

Personally, I would not allow it. MLB has 13 person pitching staffs and teams rotate pitchers up and down through options and waivers; there are options. No excuses for it. Next we can expect a Manfredball 10 run rule. 

To be fair, position players have pitched on rare occasions all through baseball history. This was usually in extreme circumstances and teams formerly had 8-10 person pitching staffs.

I remember the position guys putting in more effort than they’ve been. This is bordering on beer league slow pitch softball arc

Maybe MLB should enact a rule that when a team does this the last pitcher used has to stay in and DH, or maybe they lose their DH for the next game. Nobody wants to see a pitcher hit any more than they want to see a position player pitch.
