He walked twice last night and had a double. That’s really good.

If he didn’t have a weakness with sliders he’d be next to perfect & he’d hit .450………..there are no perfect players…….back to reality.

Just think how many home runs Pete Rose would have hit if he was only 6’2” and 210lb.!!

How did this turn into expecting perfection.  If you want to get back to reality, Buxton has a very low walk rate as a result of either poor pitch recognition or poor discipline.  That's reality.   It's a problem that prevents him from producing much better than he has for the last 1 1/2 years.  Should we say oh shucks, nobody is perfect and not hope that players improve upon their weaknesses?

Serious Question: Why aren't Canterino or Headrick on the 60 Day IL? Twins need to add Brooks to the 40 man if he's going to get called up, which I think is the appropriate move. But it is full right now since those two appear to be on there yet.

Service time. Neither pitcher is accumulating service time while on minor league IL. I don’t think the Twins could recall either guy since they’re already on the Injured List, in order to create a 40-man space or spaces.

If Lewis' groin was so tight he couldn't run, he's probably out till after the All Star Break.

Is there anything they can do that is preventative?  Frustrating all the way around.  He has been in a rut the last 7 games.  Could this have been part of the reason?

Someone wrote he has been ill since the Oakland series. Don't know with what.

It will be interesting, for sure. It is defensible to recall either player from a roster construction standpoint and Wallner has performed very well for the Saints. Julien hasn’t performed as well, but (I noted he has made 8 errors in the field for the Saints) he is an infielder who would replace an infielder.

I think the Twins will promote Lee because he is hitting well and he can be a good third baseman and he has time there.

The wild card is Miranda. If the Twins want to give him run as a regular third baseman, then recalling Wallner or Julien is prudent.

Wallner makes sense in that we could use a LH bat with real power to balance the lineup a little against RHP, he's performing well at AAA, and played very well last season for the team. The only real call for Julien right now (who hasn't been great in AAA) is to go INF for INF without adding anyone to the 40-man.

I'd add Brooks Lee to the 40-man and give him a chance to show what he can do. He could play both 2B and 3B and Castro could still get plenty of time in the OF. I'm not worried about burning an option year with him; if we need to run him back down to the minors in 2025 and 2026, then we have bigger problems. He looks ready, so let's see what we've got if Royce has to miss 3-4 weeks.

But calling up Wallner wouldn't be a crime with Miranda playing so well and able to slot in at 3B again, and Castro able to drop in there too.

It's always complicated: you want guys getting stronger, being in the best possible shape, but that combined with the grind and strain of playing can lead to injuries. Some of it can be about the way they play: you love seeing a guy make a great play in the field by stretching way out and doing something amazing...but sometimes guys end up pulling something when they try to beat out a throw.

I find the idea that the twins have been ignoring conditioning or not investing time in trying to keep players healthy baffling: despite what many around here may think, they're not objectively stupid and they haven't been trying to run things like their medical and training operations on the cheap (even if they have had a long history of going cheap on payroll).

I have a hard time imaging baseball would be more of a strain or grind than football, hockey or basketball..  Perhaps they have so much sitting or standing around they get "cold"?

Wondering if there's something with Lewis' front leg and how he swings the bat. IIRC, the injury he suffered against the Reds last year was similar in the sense that it happened during the swing rather than running out of the box.

Nice win although we had to burn through our three best relievers.  Hopefully, Festa gives us 6-7 tonight (highly unlikely though) and we don't need to rely on the pen much.

9.35 v. 9.00 ERA’s starting tonight……hoping for 4-5 innings & 3 or less runs….,not worried about depth of start - unless Twins get up 7-0 or something crazy. Just need a chance from Festa.
