Wild Card Game One: Blue Jays (Gausman) vs Twins (Lopez): 10/3/23, 3:38pm

Roster comment: in my mind the last player picked was Funderburk over Buxton or Luplow. I guess we'll see Wallner face lefties (Jays have two lefty starters, at least one should make postseason plus Mayza).

Jays activated Kikuchi, but not Ryu. Kikuchi to be available out of the pen.

I predict there will be a few strikeouts in this game.

Yup lol. Twins and Jays pitching finished 1 and 2 in strikeouts.

Pretty crazy the Twins finished with the most strikeouts hitting and pitching

Ok, lineup guesses now.

Gausman gives up an OPS 100 points higher against lefties

Julien
Polanco
Lewis
Kepler
Correa
Kirilloff
Jeffers
Wallner
MAT

Gausman that much worse against LH's. Could we see Castro in CF instead of MAT........

I did think about that but Taylor is just so much better defensively than Castro is in center.

Castro is much more valuable off the bench than any difference in center.

I'm attending my first Twins postseason home game so if they win and break the streak, I'm taking all the credit.

You can't take all of it.  I'm NOT attending for the first time since before the streak started!

Jays carrying 3 lefties. Kikuchi, Mayza, and Cabrera. Rocco going to have to be on top of his game.

That’s why I always have gameday running along with the video … so I know when to watch and when to close my eyes 🙂

I'd venture a guess that more 45-year-olds than not knew that one.

That show was definitely a weird phenomena for a very small demographic window.

Middle of the lineup looks like a lefty trap. You would probably let Kep hit but then he would have to stay in for Solano and Correa.  Same for Wallner spot.  Lineup is set to give maximum pinch hit value to make their lefties pitch to righties.

If they win today, I'll set up a go fund me account for you to attend the next 12 games.

In the best possible scenario there will be a total of only 7 postseason home games.

I had a whole thing typed out and then figured out you meant sweeps.

I'm just going to assume you used your moderator powers to make me look foolish.

But it is a nerve wracking day, it'd probably best to get them under a layer of booze to get a head start on the game.

Just got back from the future, you're going to like today's result.

The Blue Jays simply forfeited in order to relieve of us all of a lot of undue angst?

What makes you think you are limited to only one or the other?

Perhaps he's asking in order to make that last might liquor store run and he's inviting us all over to celebrate?  He's simply asking our preference.

That's how I read that anyway.
