10 Years of Blogging - 5/29/03 to ???

Recommended Posts

Just realized that it was ten years ago today that I posted my first blog article at SethSpeaks.net. It was terrible, and looking at the Archives, it definitely took awhile to get it going.

Here's that horrible first blog: Thursday

Originally, I wanted it to be about all sports, especially baseball, but also things like TV, movies, etc.

It's kind of surreal to think about having done this now for ten years. Surreal, or sad, or something... but it has been good. And, the thing that keeps me going is the response from people who read it and agree or even disagree. It's that conversation that makes it a lot of fun. Even if I get a bit frustrated by certain aspects of it, it's definitely a huge part of my life.

Thanks to everyone who have helped make the transition to Twins Daily a pretty smooth one. I still get a lot of e-mails from people telling me I should go back out on my own because of the negativity here on some things.

Life has managed to get much busier over the years, but I do still enjoy being able to write about the minor leaguers, and getting to know the people beyond just the box scores. That's what makes it all worthwhile.

So, ten years... that's a long time... but thank you to everyone who has made that time a lot of fun for me!

Cool. Liked your old site although I think I found it a bit later, maybe 2005 or 2006. Always liked the prospect review, especially since it wasn't that prominent at the time. Best.

I just read your 2003 NBA finals preview and you totally nailed it. I thought the Nets were going to win too. I'll never forget that Game 6 when Stephen Jackson just completely caught fire. I still don't fully believe that happened.

What fun. I wish I had all my thoughts on sports and other stuff written down somewhere. I barely remember the NBA in 2003, but that really jogged my memory.

Wow. You're old.

Congratulations Seth. I'm so glad you started doing this. You have, almost purely due to your passion and sheer will, become the preeminent expert and voice when it comes to the Twins minor league system. I've learned so much from you and really appreciate all the work you put in and how much you share.

I'm also very glad you did this because it has allowed us to connect and become friends. I really value you.

Sincerely,

John

Cool stuff Seth. I've been reading and commneting for some time, not always how you want, but you keep me interested. More non-sports writing from you would be great.....

If you consider that initial blog article horrible and terrible, then I will thank you to not visit my blog space here ever. :)

What the hell does that mean?

I would guess it means either he was joshing with Seth, or else is in a small minority who aren't fans. Either way, meh.

Twins are 2-15 in the playoffs since you started with no series wins of course. I'd say you have far out performed the Twins in that time.

Keep up the good work.

Seth, Congratulations. I doubt many blogs have lasted ten years. Your writing is always fair to those you write about. I think you always give players and FO types the benefit of the doubt. That is refreshing. Thank you for many entertaining reads.

Seth, did you start blogging before DTFC, or has it really been that long ago that I first read your minor league prospect material?
