This games looks a whole lot different if Buxton isn't robbed of a 3 run HR again. By Mullins again.

This game was won by the O's defense more than the lack of the Twins offense 🤷

Always tomorrow.

That is a really positive outlook.. however, 3 hits off the mighty Cole Irvin and 5 over 10 innings won't win you many games. The Mullins catch was nice, but the lack of offense wasted another quality start... that has to be like 30 quality starts wasted this year.

Ober gets another no decision because the manager can't manage. Again with a heavy RH bat lineup against a pitcher with a 6+ ERA. And of course swing for the fences in every at bat. Been a fan since 61,losing interest in style of baseball. Think I'll start paying attention to the Vikings with camp starting soon. Please Polhad's look at what you have and make changes before its too late.

If Lee is what is expected next year by mid-season, I don’t see a spot on the field for Julien. Have been saying this same thing since late April. Not a hater by any means but trying to be realistic……..Miranda - Julien - Winder - Varland/Maeda - Larnachvare all reasonable trade pieces to fill our holes.

Lee is fifth in his league among SS in OPS....among SS. He shows no sign of being ready next year. And I thought he might be ready this year, and I'm a believer....but nothing in his hitting screams "I'm ready coach, put me in" any time soon.

You want the manager to hit for these guys? This is how it has been all year.....this is about the hitters.

I could have sworn we were talking about offense. It's pretty clear that when I said he's replacing him, that I consider him a second baseman only on this team.

Also, can we stop insulting people with phrases like shiny new toy, implying we are stupid? Sigh.

Again, have been choosing Polanco over an unproven rookie with 100 AB’s or less since he came up, and people (many, not you) anointed him a star from his performance at WBA or whatever it’s called.

You did mention he was 2nd best hitter in our line-up…….if that were obvious he’d have a hard time being displaced by Polanco or anybody else. Enter the defensive side of the game…….his potential to play elsewhere if Polanco is in the line-up.

How’s describing him as “he’s the new guy & he isn’t hurt 50% of the time like Polanco” for a description. I get it. I think Polanco, if healthy is a better option with his experience - I guess we agree to disagree.

Agreed on his progress to date - qualified statement with, “if Lee does what’s expected” …..he may never play 2B for us.

Julien is already one of the best hitters on this team in his first 150 PAs in his career, and this team is already clogged with a bunch of veteran players who can't hit. Yes he's bad defensively at 2B, but this is giving me flashbacks of people arguing how about we should have kept Schoop at 2B in 2019 over the up and coming Arraez who was doing far better at the plate.

To date in ‘23:

120 AB’s for Polanco - .250 BA - 9 doubles - 5 HR - defense he brings - 30 games, 16 RBI - .450 SLG% - experience

125 AB’s for Julien - .256 BA - 8 doubles - 6 HR - defense he brings - 41 games, 11 RBI - .464 SLG% - positive energy

Offensively, pretty comparable, IMO.

Defense seems to be the decision point if both healthy - right?

This is not true at all. Correa has been basically slap-hitting lately and Joey Gallo slapped a dribbler to the 3B gap for his single.

I wasn't necessarily arguing Julien over Polanco because Jorge isn't one of the veterans who are stinking it up at the plate, but the only other spot he'd probably fit in is DH. When Polanco is healthy they should try to get both of them in the lineup every day, but that will be hard with Buxton locked in at DH.

Right, Polanco does not fix the offense, because he and Julien are nearly the same on offense. We were talking about offense...not sure how to make that more clear. If you want to fix the offense, then subbing Polanco for Julien does not do that. They need to fix 3B and all three OF spots (well, those are the spots most fixable anyway, no one expects to fix all three).

No place did anyone anoint Julien a STAR. No place did anyone say he was an overall better player than Polanco.

Another one run game for the twins offense. I don’t care what color lipstick you put on this pig you can’t cover up the fact correa in Buxton are hurting this team. Every time solarno, Julian or Kirilloff (when he gets a chance to play)get things going it seems  like either Buxton or correa come up and hit  into double play or gallo strikes out to end a rally.Moving correa to lead off doesn’t make sense. He’s so inconsistent he should be batting 6th and Buxton should either be playing centerfield, or be put on the IL. He still continues to swing wildly at pitches hoping for another homer. I’m beginning to feel like I’m watching a replay. Today I turned the game off in the 4th inning. Welcome to second place in the worst division in baseball!!!

First base, where he should be playing anyway.
