Wow the Twins were lucky to win this game. If our 2 overpaid stars (double play Correa and strikeout Buxton) had not left the game the Twins would have lost this game. Just do not understand why Rocco keeps batting Correa is the 3 spot, he  is the worst 3 spot hitter in baseball. If Rocco doesn't change then he needs to be replaced. No other team in baseball has a .200 hitter in 3 spot.  I keep wondering how good the Twins would be with an experienced manager, but we will have him for many years to come due to front office.

4 years and 500+ games is inexperienced?

He did not live through the Fernando Rodney Experience like the rest of us, so, yes, inexperienced. 😀

He has appeared in 21 games this year.  He gave up 1 run in one game, 3 runs once, and 6 runs once.  He walked two and gave up a 3 run homer in the game with 3 runs.  No runs in the other 18 appearances.   It's not too troubling if Pagan is your 7th or 8th guy out of the BP which he will be with Maeda and Thielbar back.

I was looking across both seasons and I think I referenced last year. Your point might be that he is a different pitcher now and last year doesn’t matter. I am not sure he has changed from the pitcher that is prone to command issues that can lead to walks or hard contact. I also wonder if we should consider how he has done with inherited runners.

Sure we should consider inherited runners.  I could care less if they DFAed him today.  The point is THIS YEAR he has done a decent job.  Talking about years past in regard to relievers is of modest value.  What he has done this year and what he will do going forward is what matters.  I just think fans tend to frame these sorts of discussions in whatever form they like while ignoring what is actually happening.  He has been decent and fans still want to persecute him for last year.  Keep in mind a significant portion of the people here wanted Jeffers out a couple months ago.  Bailey Ober was framed by many as a mediocre SP.  Kirilloff was written off by many as well.  The sky was going to fall if we didn't resign Correa, etc.  The over reaction is a product of passion so it's not such a bad thing but it's a thing.

I care about looking forward and how the past will inform looking forward. I will never be swayed by a partial season sample. My original comment that he tends to give up runs in crooked numbers and also put up a good number of clean outings is what I expect moving forward based on looking back long enough. I think there are game situations where going in with that expectation or likelihood is more helpful to winning that game than others.  The Twins really needed a clean outing when down 3 mid game. They got the clean outing. It helped them win the game.

I agree with the concerns about Lopez, but this implication is off, to me. Do you really think he’s not working and just sluffing off because he signed a new contract? It’s a nice contract, and I’m not sure what’s happening with him, but doubtful he’s just off somewhere enjoying it and not working hard. I hope he can get back to how he started the season.

I am not thinking that he's not working, but the same concentration that he had at the beginning seems to have slipped. It is possible to relax after something is good as as contract comes and lose the edge that he started with. But also look at his baseball reference page. It has never sustained the quality that we all know he has in them and that he demonstrated at the beginning of the year. Whatever it is he needs to get back.

This I agree with. I’m not sure if it’s lost focus or what. Or maybe trying too hard to prove his worth? But he is capable and hope he gets there soon. I still believe in his abilities. And maybe it’s just a down year. Hard to say.

True, but Kirilloff has somewhat quietly been taking the most consistently productive at bats. A nice pair to add mid-season no doubt. Kirilloff doesn't maybe have the charisma, but man he looks steely and confident at the plate. The opponents don't seem to know how to pitch to him.

If both of them can continue to meet the expectations, stay healthy, and help stabilize this lineup, things might take off...
