What about Thor?

Syndergaard is pitching ok for the Angels with a 3.69 ERA but with 5.8 strikeouts per 9 innings.  He is also averaging a hair over 5 innings per start.  He is on a 1 year 21 million contract.  Should we trade for him and what would it cost to acquire him?

I don't think so.  I'd have to see more from Thor to warrant my interest.  The low K rate concerns me and we've got enough 5-inning max starters as it is.  The Twins need a #1 who they can count on for 7 innings virtually every start.  Thor, at best, would be Archer 2.0.

With the expanded playoffs and their payroll, the Angels seem like a team that's going to push for a WC spot until it's absolutely a lost cause.

Even so, it looks like Syndergaard has lost about 4 MPH off of his once devastating fastball. The poor strikeout numbers seem to reflect this and if he's lost the strikeouts, I'd put money on his other numbers falling apart soon as well.

Yeah I would not give up much for Noah.  I have not seen him pitch this year, but looking at his numbers his K rate is down a ton, his walk rate at about career norm, so not like he is getting early contact outs.  I would pass unless it was more of a waiver claim situation.  He does not clearly rank higher than any of our current rotation, other than his numbers from several years ago of 2018 and 2016 really. Unless our starters start missing the full year I give up nothing other than money for him, and if we have a healthy staff he would most likely slot near Archer. They are baiscally having the same season overall, just Thor has gone deeper generally in starts, but on the Twins that may not happen.

Thor would be cheap if the LAA would be interested in trading him. I'd doubt they would IMO they try to compete until the very end. They desperately need pitching

I wouldn't be interested in acquiring Syndergaard right now and the Angels won't be interested in moving him. Syndergaard has a history of picking up velocity in the 2nd half of the year and he IS pitching well on a team with strong aspirations of the World Series.

The Angels have the 2 of the best players in all of baseball with Trout and Ohtani.
