It is so fun reading the responses to Eddie's great run here. The team we root for is the players, or at least it is for me. That is why I despise the current track of strangers year after year, and trading away (or non tendering or releasing et al....) the players we love to improve the team (which hasn't happened, and rarely does) with hope and dreams prospects. I love seeing the feet in mouths. Keep on spouting the WAR et al. One cannot deny that Eddie is clutch this postseason. Or you can, and I can laugh. Here's to Eddie. He was ours and the so smart FO got rid of him. Now the Twins are more of a house than a home.

Isn’t every prospect a “hope and dreams” prospect? Believe it or not, every MLB player right now was a “hope and dreams” prospect once.

It would be really interesting to know if Atlanta's coaches actually influenced change.  They did not even use him the first month he was there.  He had 11 PAs.  Were they working on something?  After Sept 1 he had 98 PAs and an OPS of 916.

Rosario was on the IL when Atlanta traded for him and he wasn't activated until Aug 28. That's why he had only 11 Aug PAs.

Thanks for that info.  That's a relief in a way.  I was wondering if their coaches had an impact that quickly which would be a little depressing.  The ability is there he just can't seem to harness it with any consistency.  It's going to be interesting to see how much he improved his stock with this playoff run.  He was looking at $5M or less before September and the playoff run.

Congratulations to Eddie rosario and to Jorge Solar. The year started rough for them.

BTW, the home plate umpire in Game 6 tonight has been spectacular. No way an electronic umpire is as good as this guy is tonight.

It looks like Rosario was already warming up after a rough start in Cleveland, before he went to Atlanta.

Rosario's last 100 PA in Cleveland:
100 PA, .330 OBP, 14.0% K%, 11 XBH

Rosario's Sep./Oct. for Atlanta (regular season):
98 PA, .337 OBP, 14.3% K%, 12 XBH

Of course, in Atlanta, he got a few more of those XBH over the fence! Which could have been helped by coaching, but also could just be a hot streak.

There were a number of Eddie's ABs in the post season that he laid off pitches he'd almost always swing at when he was in MN. He has always been a "prime time" type player who locked in more during high leverage situations so it may just be that he was able to lock in more throughout the playoffs (he was good in the playoffs for us too), but it'll be interesting to see what he does next year during the regular season. Did something in him change and he'll come out with a more patient approach all year next year or will he be the streaky Eddie who dominates mistakes for a few weeks at a time while getting himself out swinging at everything for other stretches?

Great to see Eddie and Ehire get rings. Will be fun to see how this run changed Eddie's stock in free agency and if he'll be able to change his approach for 162 games next year.

Looking at Rosario's postseason, his slash line looks incredible but in some ways not unlike his regular season streaks I mentioned in my previous post:
68 PA, 14.7% K%, 7 XBH

His first 5 postseason games this year, he had 5 singles (1 in each game), zero XBH, zero non-intentional walks, and only 2 K's.

Then NLCS Game 2 he collected 4 straight singles, but pretty much continued his contact approach. Video of all 4 singles here. Two infield singles -- one he barely beat on replay review, and another which could have been an error (off the infielder's glove) -- plus another poked through the left side of the infield to beat the shift.

Next game, a leadoff single was followed by two non-intentional walks later in the game, and the game after that, he collected 3 XBH, his first of the postseason.
