Gardy called him a loose cannon.  Ozzie Guillen called him a piranha. 

I will forever remember him from "Game 163", the final act of the Minnesota Baseball Confederacy (Kinsella fans, you get it).

I will forever think of Go-Go Gomez in context of shouting on my couch “Look at him go!…. Awe, he’s out” and muttering “jeez! Hit the cutoff man!”

Gomez played  in the Dominican Summer League. Major League Baseball retired him after the 2019 season.

I'm glad Gomez ended up having a nice career for himself but woof, he was one of my least favorite Twins if comparing skill vs. on-field style of play. For whatever reason and probably more than a little irrationally, I couldn't stand watching the guy unless he was playing defense.

This was during the ninth inning with the game on the line, mind you, and Gomez just started cussing out bugs and taking an enraged hack at them.

He was perhaps the most frustrating bundle of glimpsed-but-unfulfilled talent that the Twins had in a long time. He could do amazing things. The video of him swinging at bugs is a good meme.

Man, if only we had kept J.J. Hardy. What a complete disaster of a trade.

The guy capable of the most amazing plays, and also the most ridiculous ones. I remember when he bunt the ball into his face. People didn't know whether to worry or to laugh. Another one for the memories, was one already playing for Milwaukee against the Twins. Twins were winning like 12 to 2 and he hit a homer off Blackburn (not that difficult to do) and started to admire it. And all the players were like, what's wrong with this guy? After the game all were saying, nothing wrong, it's just GoGO.
