Azviking101 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 It’s really too bad that guys like Simmons and Happ have been so awful all year and so awful recently. Simmons has like 1 hit in his last 12 games and Happ can’t even get the Tigers out. They have no value to other teams.
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Unbelievable. Have to wait til he gives up 7 runs before he comes out. Tired bullpen? Bull excrement. There are several arms who most certainly can pitch as well, if not better than Happ right now. If there was some plan, theory or strategy to explain this debacle, I'd love to hear it.

Azviking101 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 This is a time of the year where not only should the twins be bringing prospects in but teams are DFAing guys like crazy. Any of those guys would be better than Happ
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 With Happ's recent experience, he should have been stoking beer well before giving up 7 runs .
wavedog Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 If you are looking for a silver lining - the bullpen won't blow a lead today.
wavedog Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Uncle - what do we do for the next 6 innings.

What's the difference? Game is lost. Might as well give a young guy some experience. The only poison is Happ's performance and Baldellis lack of action.
wavedog Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Even all their outs are productive - sure would like to see that with the Twins.
Linus Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 That sound you don’t hear is teams not pursuing Happ.
Azviking101 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 And that’s why they didn’t remove Happ earlier. If it’s not Berrios or Maeda it doesn’t really matter because they’re all gonna get shelled regardless

insagt1 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 we've all said it...it will be a very long final 2 months to endure this team that clearly has nowhere to go anymore. This is rich. Sano pounds one out when its 10-0 bad guys. Hit 'em when they count Sano. Too much to ask?

It’s not like he’s directly caused the 10-0 deficit (checks quickly to make sure he has no errors yet) and he’s reached both times.

Purchases a $15 baseball for kid, who inadvertantly throws down a stair well 4. Hot and humid 5. Butt and legs sticking to plastic seats 6. While watching game, someone keys your car 7. Trip and fall down one flight of concrete steps 8. stands in puddle. while using restroom 9. Can't find seat, spend 20 minutes, sweating up and down concourse 10. Twins blown out by 4th inning.

Too much to ask? it's going to be a monumentally long final two months. if rogers is shelved for the year and no one else capable of closing games without getting "sick", look out. we could still make a run at 100. we have to win 20 out of the final 60 to avoid 100 losses. it's more than doable.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 An offensive response? What is this?!
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 Catchers hitting grand slams like crazy this series!
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 I feel like eating 'crow' for dinner. I'd love to find the biggest, oldest, funkiest crow, I can.
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Well, I just tuned in from work. I guess I don't have to worry about watching this game and g being unproductive. So let's see, possible trade candidates we were hoping to see go for prospects; Robles - Gave up grand slam to blow 4 run 9th inning lead last night, ERA now 4.91, left "feeling dizzy"; Colome - Blew lead Monday night, at least 5 blown saves, -1.1 WAR year to date; Happ - With today's performance, ERA now 6.77, which I believe is highest starter ERA in American League; and Simmons - .217 avg, .571 OPS entering game. 152./212/.196 slash line last 30 games. Hmm, I'm thinking big haul here.

RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Grandslams are nice, but they also show how krappy the pitching can be.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 and this is why you don't punt on a game and leave in a guy who has nothing, in the 4th inning
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Wily Peralta, 10 run lead, melts down, taken out and can't get through the 4th inning. Wonder if we can trade for him? He'd fit right in.
