GAME THREAD: 4/3/21 Minnesota Twins @ Milwaukee Brewers, 6:10 CDT

Welcome to Game 2 of the 2021 season! Pretty fun Game 1, eh?

I have some commitments on Friday and during the day on Saturday, and so I am for once not procrastinating, and am writing this intro on Thursday during the mid-inning break, heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Solid outing by most in the lineup, with enough hitting to rack up 5 runs. Would have liked a couple of insurance runs when Garver almost hit one out just now, but those surely won’t be missed. Great to have Buxton go yard - not like he swings for the fences every time, and it’s nice to see him mix in the occasional dinger. Too bad Donaldson got an owie while legging out his double in the first inning, but I'm sure it's nothing serious and he'll be back in the lineup in a couple of days.

On the run-prevention side, Maeda has worked out of a few jams to limit the Brew Crew to a paltry pair of runs, barring unlikely events the rest of the way. Looking for Berrios to build on this success on Saturday. A little disappointed not to see Dobnak in there today, so he can try out his new-found strikeout pitch, while the pressure is low with a comfortable lead. There, Colome just got the first out, a bit of a loud one but an out’s an out, right? Kepler hauled it in and he’s always reliable. Is it crazy to dream of 162-0? Nothing falls but raindrops with this defense – could be best of all time.

Oh, and speaking of time, it’s time to go enjoy dinner. See you all Saturday. Lineups from mlb.com to follow:

There, have I acknowledged the elephant in the room sufficiently?

Please, I ask, return the favor, and don't everyone keep banging the same drum over and over as we have (more than justly) done the past couple of days.

It's a new game tonight, and if they stink it up, then feel free to tell 'em so. But conversely, let's root for a win and then enjoy one as it unfolds, okay?

I really like the 1. Arraez, 2. Polanco, 3. Buxton. Why not try Cruz in the cleanup spot one time?

1. Arraez

2. Polanco

3. Buxton

4. Cruz

5. Donaldson

6. Kepler

7. Sano

8. Garver

9. Simmons.

I think Rocco should give it a shot one day.

What are our drum options? Bongo? Snare? Kettle?

Is there "tuneful" percussion?

May i be triangle man?

Yes, on that one day when Donaldson is healthy.  :D

I dated a drummer once. She two-timed me. I took it as a cymbal.

Q: How can you tell a drummer's at the door?

A: The knocking speeds up.

Brandenburg Concerto 3, by JS Bach. One of the most perfect compositions of all time.

My prediction?

Team leader and sleep specialist Cruz will have the team well rested after an off day and convince everyone opening day was just a bad dream. His personal chef will fix a wonderful pre-game meal to have everyone at full strength. The Twins are going to win game #2 and everything will seem right again in the world.

There was an orchestra on tour and there was a terrible plane crash. All the musicians were killed, and so were the percussionists.

Ahh yes, I love those famous 12-minute triangle solos, giving the rest of the orchestra time to go backstage take a leak and smoke a quick joint :)

Berrios is my pick to click. He will have his best season this year.

You like the way the first inning played out?*

That curve to strike out Yelich was a beauty, particularly coming after what looked like a changeup that the batter had sized up and barely fouled back.

Hope Yelich remembers that, so that Jose can send a rising fastball past him next time. :)

/ * I see now that you posted your view. Takes me a couple of minutes to post, sometimes.
